1325:Rinpoche’s Great Compassionate (maitrī and karuṇā) Vow Power Rescuing My Ancestors and Protecting the Disciple
Prostrations to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, Dharma Protector Achi, the Lineage gurus, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Greetings, fellow believers and Dharma brothers, I am Xian Zu Ming from Group Three, and my Dharma name is Gong Chu Ding Wei. My mother is Liao Ling Jie, and my sister is Xian Zhi Qin, both from Group Four.
I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for granting me the opportunity to praise the guru for how he has helped my family and me and to repent for the evil karma I have committed through my body, speech, and mind.
In 2001, my grandmother suffered from tongue cancer. Through an introduction by my uncle’s friend, my mother was then able to seek an audience with His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. I am grateful for Rinpoche’s blessings and help, which allowed my grandmother to be spared from the torment of chemotherapy and to be able to recover. In 2004, our whole family moved from Hong Kong back to Taiwan to settle down. My mother immediately took refuge in Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and my elder sister and I also took refuge together in Rinpoche the following year to learn Buddhism.
Two days after the Lantern Festival in 2021, my mother suddenly received news of my grandfather’s passing away. She hurried south to Pingtung with my uncle. As my grandfather had been away from home for more than thirty years, all relatives and friends were in the north, my mother and uncle decided on the spot to bring my grandfather back to Taipei overnight, and contacted a funeral company to assist in handling the funeral affairs. At that time, as my mother had just received a vaccine less than two weeks prior, my elder sister and I went to the Buddhist Center to seek an audience with Rinpoche. After listening to our report, Rinpoche only said, ‘No fate.’ We then stepped back. I am grateful for Rinpoche’s great compassionate (maitrī and karuṇā) vow power that, in the Chod puja held in that month, Rinpoche still compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) transferred my grandfather’s consciousness. My grandfather’s funeral affairs all proceeded smoothly and were completed perfectly. After the cremation, two small round holes were even found on the skull, and the other bones also appeared pink in color. Upon seeing these auspicious signs, relatives and friends all marveled that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s great-maitrī and great-karuṇā awe-inspiring power was non-dual and indistinguishable from that of the Buddha.

I am grateful to Rinpoche for compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) transferring my grandfather’s consciousness. After my grandfather was cremated, the auspicious sign of two small round holes was found on his skull.
In 2022, my grandmother was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was forcibly admitted by the hospital into an isolation ward. I am grateful for Rinpoche’s compassionate (maitrī and karuṇā) blessings, after 11 days of hospitalization, my grandmother was then able to recover and be discharged. In late October of the same year, my grandmother suddenly fell down and sat on the ground at home due to weakness in both legs. Afterwards, her mental state and mobility both began to deteriorate; she was bedridden and was unable to eat. Hospital examination reports showed that her body weight and various indicators all declined. An examination in May of the following year revealed that a tumor had grown in my grandmother’s stomach, and she also developed conditions such as vomiting blood and being unable to have bowel movements.
On June 24, 2023, my mother, my elder sister, and I brought my grandmother to seek an audience with Rinpoche. My grandmother, who had originally been drowsy, became immediately full of energy as soon as she entered the Buddhist Center. Rinpoche asked us what the matter was. My mother replied, ‘My mother’s health is not good; she cannot eat anything.’ Rinpoche asked what my grandmother was usually given to eat. My mother answered, ‘Porridge, soy milk, and so on.’ Rinpoche then asked, ‘What fruits do you give her to eat?’ My mother replied, ‘Kiwifruit, grapes, papaya.’ Rinpoche expounded, ‘Your mother already has no teeth; how can you still let her eat kiwifruit, which is so cold-natured!’ Rinpoche then asked, ‘Have you taken her to see a Chinese medicine doctor?’ My mother replied, ‘Yes.’
Rinpoche, with great compassion (maitrī and karuṇā), asked my grandmother again, and she said she had no appetite and could not eat. Rinpoche asked how old my grandmother was, and my mother replied that my grandmother was 92 years old. Rinpoche expounded, ‘She has eaten for the whole lifetime. I am 76 years old; I also have no appetite, and do not eat as much as before. When one is old, one naturally eats less.’ Rinpoche then asked my mother to repeat Rinpoche’s words to my grandmother, and further expounded, ‘Giving her soy milk to drink would just be fine!’ My mother reported that there was something growing in my grandmother’s stomach, and Rinpoche expounded, ‘Let your mother follow fate!’
I am grateful for His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassionate (maitrī and karuṇā) teachings and incomparable wondrous blessing power. My grandmother, who had been constipated for many days, finally had a bowel movement about two hours after returning to the hospital following the audience. The next day, she was also discharged with the doctor’s approval and smoothly transferred to another hospital for continued treatment. A week later, my grandmother insisted on being discharged to return home. In the morning two days later, when the long-term caregiver aunt came to bathe my grandmother, she noticed that my grandmother was especially listless that day and had little strength throughout her body. When the aunt left, she specifically told me to pay attention to my grandmother’s condition at all times. After noon, my grandmother had no strength to drink water with a straw, and her breathing became more rapid than usual. I tried to measure her blood pressure, but the machine could not obtain a reading. After reporting to my mother, my mother reminded me to show my grandmother Rinpoche’s Dharma portrait, and to continuously play the recording of Rinpoche chanting mantras. I also placed the precious nectar pill bestowed by Rinpoche into my grandmother’s mouth, ceaselessly chanted Rinpoche’s Dharma name for my grandmother to hear, and visualized Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche bestowing blessings on the top of my grandmother’s head. At around five in the evening, my uncle’s whole family, along with my mother, father, and elder sister, all hurried back to my grandmother’s home.
Late at night, my grandmother began, one after another, to manifest the disintegration of four major elements as expounded by Rinpoche on the Dharma throne. My mother asked near my grandmother’s ear, ‘Shall I help you make an offering of the money previously entrusted to Rinpoche and donate to the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche?’ My grandmother, who had already been unable to speak, at that moment unexpectedly answered loudly in Taiwanese, ‘Yes!’ and her gaze remained fixed on Rinpoche’s Dharma portrait for a prolonged while. My grandmother’s breathing gradually became weaker and weaker, and she passed away peacefully at 2:03 a.m. My mother immediately called the Glorious Jewel to leave a message and reported to the group leader of Group Four.
Under Rinpoche’s blessings and protection, we visualized Rinpoche bestowing blessings on the top of my grandmother’s head, and after we chanted the Great Six-Syllable Mantra for eight hours, my grandmother’s body and limbs were all soft, and both her back and the crown of her head were warm; there was no postmortem lividity, her countenance was serene, as if asleep, and her mouth, which had originally been open, had also closed, leaving only a small slit. Our entire family was most sincerely grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for his incomparably wondrous blessings and help! We furthermore marveled at Rinpoche’s incredible great power!
On the day of my grandmother’s passing, it happened to be a Saturday. We immediately signed up to seek an audience with Rinpoche, and sincerely implored Rinpoche to transfer my grandmother’s consciousness so that she would not fall into the Three Evil Realms. After a Dharma brother from the side reported, I am grateful to Rinpoche for compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) granting our imploration, and instructing my mother to come to the Buddhist Center for three consecutive days to perform grand prostrations so as to help my grandmother. I am most sincerely grateful to Rinpoche for transferring my grandmother’s consciousness in the incomparably wondrous Chod puja. On the day of the farewell ceremony, it was moderately breezy and sunny. I am thankful to all the Dharma brothers who came that day. After the cremation, there was more than one round hole on my grandmother’s skull, and the bones appeared in colors such as pink and light green. All of these were auspicious signs of Rinpoche transferring my grandmother’s consciousness. My relatives and friends all marveled unceasingly at Rinpoche’s immense merit, power, and compassion (maitrī and karuṇā).
Next, I will share with you how Rinpoche has helped me. On December 19, 2025, an indiscriminate attack occurred at Taipei Main Station, causing severe panic in society. That evening, after finishing dinner, I went alone to a shopping mall near Zhongshan Station to buy some things. After taking the elevator from a side entrance directly to the fourth floor, I wanted to first go to the restroom. At that time, there were quite a number of people queuing outside the women’s restroom, and there were also a few customers in the men’s restroom. After coming out of the restroom, I found that the queue outside the women’s restroom had disappeared. While I was still wondering, as I turned a corner, two police officers holding police batons suddenly rushed over and asked me, ‘Is there anyone else in the restroom?’ I immediately raised both hands and replied, ‘I don’t know! I just came out and did not see anyone else.’ The two police officers urgently shouted for me to leave hurriedly! They then rushed into the restroom to check whether anyone was hiding inside, and successively asked other customers about the suspect’s movements. At that moment, I totally had no idea what had happened, but from the panicked manner of the two police officers, I realized the seriousness of the situation. Then, under the direction of the building management staff, I evacuated together with several shop staff via the emergency stairway to the first floor.
Only when on the way downstairs did I begin to connect it with the smoke bomb incident that had occurred at Taipei Main Station. It was only after I had safely exited the building and reached an open area that I had the opportunity to use my phone to check the latest information and understand the course of the entire incident.
Estimating from the timing of the incident, if I had entered the shopping mall a little later or left the restroom a little earlier, I might have been frightened by the horrifying scene at that time, and might even have directly faced the suspect. Fortunately, under the protection of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and the Dharma protectors, I could be unscathed and exit safely. For all of this, I should be grateful to Rinpoche for protecting disciples and the vast sentient beings at all times.
Lastly, I want to repent for the evil karma I have committed through accumulated past lifetimes. I repent that, in primary school, I caught grasshoppers and mantises and put them into plastic bottles, taking them as my own spoils; when classmates caught small shrimp in the ecological pond, I even joined in the clamor from the side, harming countless sentient beings; I repent for still worshipping the Lord of the land (Tudi Gong ) to implore for safety after just taking refuge, and for not holding the guru, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in my heart; I repent for slacking off, doing the morning and evening prayers in a desultory kind of way; I repent that I was arrogant, selfish, and self-interested, that I engaged in divisive speech, harsh speech, and lying; that, thinking myself clever, I cheated in exams; that I wasted the company’s resources at work; and that I did not believe in karma, talked back to my parents and did not respect my teachers and elders.
I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for his incomparably wondrous teachings, teaching the disciples to be liberated from reincarnation, to learn the Buddha Dharma with a reverent mind, to deeply believe in karma, to practice in accordance with the teachings, to listen to the guru and constantly correct our body, speech, and mind, to examine ourselves daily with the Thirty-Seven Practices of Bodhisattvas, and to apply the Buddha Dharma in the life.
I pray for His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s good health, longevity, and auspiciousness; his Dharma wheel turns unceasingly; his Buddha Dharma activities flourish; his Dharma lineage spreads eternally; all at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche are perfect and smooth, benefiting immeasurable and boundless sentient beings. I thank all fellow believers and Dharma brothers for listening patiently.
