1329：Open Repentance Report by the Directors and Supervisors

Prostrations to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Dharma Protector Achi, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; greetings, Dharma brothers and fellow believers.
 
Regarding the matter at the Chod Puja last week on 24 May, in which the cover page of the participants list was mistakenly printed as the deceased, all the Directors and Supervisors sincerely and deeply express our open repentance to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, all sentient beings, and all the attending believers and Dharma brothers.

This terrible negligence fully revealed that we, as the Directors and Supervisors, lacked a reverent mind, failed to cautiously and properly handle the affairs of the Buddhist Center, and did not properly fulfill our responsibility of review and verification. Because of our carelessness and laxity, we delayed the guru’s time for performing the Dharma, wasted the guru’s energy, and caused many sentient beings to be unable to participate in such an incomparably wondrous and rare Chod Puja. We, the disciples, deeply feel ashamed and repentant.
 
I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for immediately discovering this major error and compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) correcting it and reprimanding us. Otherwise, the consequences would have been too dreadful to contemplate. Even though our actions were extremely absurd, Rinpoche still, out of compassion (maitrī and karuṇā), did not abandon sentient beings, continued to perform the Dharma, and steadfastly upheld his commitment to benefit all sentient beings. The disciples’ gratitude is beyond words.
 
Here, all the Directors and Supervisors sincerely and deeply repent to His Eminence Vajra Guru, all the sentient beings, and all the attending Dharma brothers and believers.

Regarding this negligence, the Board of Directors immediately had a review meeting on that day to deeply examine the causes of the problem and formulated the following subsequent improvement measures:
 
In the future, as for all the name lists for transferring consciousness at every Chod Puja, prior to submission, three parties, consisting of Chairman Xie Cong Lü, the Director and Dharma Brother Lai Yi Qian, and the attendants of Dharma Affairs Group, must all check the content of the lists one by one, accomplish the triple-check review and verification, and confirm that everything is correct and no error occurs; only then will the name lists be submitted in order to establish a more rigorous review and verification mechanism and prevent similar errors from occurring again.
 
All the Directors and Supervisors once again deeply repent and reflect upon this negligence to the guru and all sentient beings. We repent that the disciples were unable to handle the affairs of the Buddhist Center with a more reverent, more careful, and more cautious mind. I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) granting the disciples the opportunity to serve as runners and to undertake the affairs of the Buddhist Center. In the future, we, the disciples, will certainly be more vigilant toward ourselves, and will handle every affair of the Buddhist Center with a more reverent, more cautious, and more attentive attitude, not daring to have even the slightest laxity.

I am grateful to Rinpoche, and I am grateful to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas; I am grateful to all the Dharma brothers and believers for listening patiently.
