1300:Appreciation to the Guru for Helping Me and My Family

Prostrations to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, the Lineage gurus, Dharma protector Achi, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Greetings, fellow believers and Dharma brothers, I am Wu Hong Xin of group 3, and my Dharma name is Gong Chu Din Shou. My elder sister is Wu Zhen Lin from group 8, and my younger brother is Wu Fu Ren from group 7. I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for bestowing me the opportunity to hereby share with everyone the incomparably wondrous blessings and help that my family and I have received from Rinpoche.

When I was still in elementary school, my mother went to visit her friend, Dharma brother Huang from group 8. At that time, I was too young to understand what they were talking about; I only knew that she mentioned His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to my mother. Later, my mother went to the Glorious Jewel to sign up and seek an audience with Rinpoche. I remember that my mother wanted to implore Rinpoche for permission to attend a puja at that time. I was still very young, and the only thing I remembered was that after the audience, I could get a piece of chocolate. So when I was a child, I always looked forward to going again.

In the early days when I went to seek an audience, I was still eating meat. One time, the school organized an activity and asked us whether we wanted meat soup or mung bean soup for lunch. Honestly, as a child, I had a trauma from being forced to drink mung bean soup, but I didn’t feel like choosing the meat soup at that moment. From then on, I gradually stopped eating meat and became a vegetarian. Afterward, I often went to Sunday pujas with my mother. She was the first to take refuge, and later, my sister, brother, and I also took refuge while we were in elementary school.

I remember that when I was still in vocational high school, one day, while playing badminton during the Physical Education class, something happened that left a deep impression on me. Back then, I hadn’t fully recovered from a cold, and while playing badminton with my classmates, phlegm blocked my trachea, leaving me suddenly unable to breathe. I felt extremely panicked at that moment and rushed to the restroom to cough up the phlegm. After coughing for a while, I was still having trouble breathing and felt as if I were about to die. Suddenly, I thought of His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and gradually calmed down, finally managing to spit out the phlegm. I am grateful to Rinpoche! When I was little, my body was relatively weaker compared to my sister and brother. I often caught colds, and my hands would dislocate easily. However, after taking refuge in His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, I remember that my hands rarely dislocated. I am deeply thankful to Rinpoche!

One holiday at the end of 2023, I rode my motorcycle and took my sister to a supermarket to buy bread. While returning, we came to an intersection. Seeing the light was already flashing yellow but thinking that we had enough time with the distance, I pressed the throttle to speed through the intersection. Unexpectedly, the light turned red when we were in the middle of the intersection. A rider in the turning lane also pressed the throttle and crashed into the right rear side of my motorcycle, throwing my sister and me into the air. However, the injuries my sister and I sustained were not very serious and did not affect our daily lives. I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

Since childhood, I haven’t had a deep impression of my grandfather because he and my grandmother lived in Myanmar. In my memory, they only came to Taiwan twice. The first time was around my elementary school years. When I first met my grandfather and grandmother, since I was still very young and, on top of that, we didn’t share a common language, I barely interacted with my grandparents. I only knew that my grandfather seemed rather serious and intimidating, which made me too timid to talk with either of them. Later, our whole family went to a vegetarian restaurant for a meal, and a few days afterward, they returned to Myanmar.

Their second visit to Taiwan was when I was in high school. Back then, I hadn’t realized that my grandfather’s and grandmother’s health was not as good as before. During that visit, my mother took my grandfather and grandmother to seek an audience with His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and Rinpoche blessed them. However, my grandfather and grandmother did not stay in Taiwan for long before going back to Myanmar.
In recent years, my grandfather’s health has not been good due to his age. In mid-2022, my grandfather was hospitalized in Myanmar because he was not feeling well. On December 31, 2022, my mother took the three of us children to seek an audience with His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, imploring him to help my grandfather. Rinpoche expounded that my grandfather had no fate. Rinpoche instructed the three of us siblings to do grand prostrations for our grandfather every day. When he asked how many times we would prostrate, I was too nervous to answer, and my sister said we would follow Rinpoche’s instructions. Rinpoche showed a compassionate smile and instructed me and my brother to each do 200 grand prostrations, and my sister 300. Rinpoche said that if we missed a day of doing it, we would not come to the Buddhist Center.
Starting the following Monday, the three of us siblings just went to the Buddhist Center every day to do grand prostrations. At that time, on weekdays, I often had to work overtime until late due to the nature of my job, but during that period of doing grand prostrations, I was almost always able to leave the company on time. After explaining the situation to my supervisors, they understood it and allowed me to arrive at the Buddhist Center on weekdays to perform the grand prostrations as scheduled. I am grateful to Rinpoche!

During his hospitalization, my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, and he later passed away on March 22. At that time, my mother recorded a video of my grandfather after his passing. In the video, he was sitting in a wheelchair, looking as if he were asleep, with his body remaining as soft as when he was alive. I sincerely thank Rinpoche. Afterward, on April 1, my mother and the three of us siblings sought an audience with Rinpoche to implore for transferring my grandfather’s consciousness. Rinpoche compassionately granted and transferred my grandfather’s consciousness during the Chod puja on April 30. I express my gratitude to Rinpoche!

At the beginning of November 2024, my grandmother was admitted to the hospital in Myanmar because she was unwell. On November 16, my mother sought an audience with His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and Rinpoche instructed my brother, my sister, and me to each perform 300 grand prostrations. After some time, my grandmother was admitted to the intensive care unit. On November 30, my mother sought an audience with His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, who instructed my brother, my sister, and me to each do 300 grand prostrations until my grandmother passed away.

On weekdays, due to work, I often had to work overtime until 10 or 11 p.m. At that time, I was worried that I might not make it to the Buddhist Center for grand prostrations after work, so I considered going in the morning instead, but I was also concerned that I might be late for work. To my surprise, after I explained the situation to my supervisor, he agreed to let me take an hour off each morning. I sincerely appreciate Rinpoche!

My grandmother passed away in early December. On December 7, my mother sought an audience with Rinpoche, and Rinpoche asked the three of us siblings to continue doing grand prostrations until he performed the Chod puja. On December 22, His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche performed the Chod puja. That Saturday, my mother and the three of us siblings sought an audience with Rinpoche again, and Rinpoche instructed us to immediately do 500 grand prostrations. I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for compassionately granting our imploring and performing the Chod puja on December 22 to transfer my grandmother’s consciousness. I offer my heartfelt thanks to Rinpoche.

Lastly, I pray here for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s s good health, longevity, and auspiciousness; the Dharma wheel turns unceasingly; his Dharma activities may flourish, and His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Dharma lineage may spread eternally. I sincerely thank all fellow believers and Dharma brothers for listening patiently.
