1321:Appreciation to the Guru for Saving My Father and Protecting My Mother, and Praise the Guru for Constructing the Pure Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche
Prostrations to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, the Lineage gurus, Dharma Protector Achi, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Greetings, fellow believers and Dharma brothers. I am Zhang Gui Hua from Group One, and my Dharma name is Hui Zhong Drolma. My younger sister is Zhang Lian Hua from Group Six, and her Dharma name is Hui Li Drolma. I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for bestowing me the opportunity to hereby praise the guru’s merits, the guru compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) blessing my mother and transferring my father’s consciousness, and to repent for the evil karma I have committed in the past.
I took refuge in His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche on July 27, 2025. As for the fate origin, please refer to Article No. 1046 on the Traces of Liberating Beings on the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center official website for details.
On the evening of May 4, 2018, my mother had a traffic accident while riding her motorcycle home, causing a comminuted fracture on the right side of her left knee and a fracture of her left tibia. My mother was taken by ambulance to the emergency department of a nearby regional hospital. After the emergency doctors conducted the triage examination, she was immediately arranged for hospitalization and must undergo surgery the next day to have a plate implanted. After returning home, I immediately knelt before the mandala and implored Rinpoche to protect my mother. I also brought a precious nectar pill bestowed by Rinpoche to the hospital for my mother to take.
I am grateful for Rinpoche’s blessings. The next day, my mother’s surgery was completed very smoothly, taking less time than the originally expected time needed for the surgery, and my mother returned to the general ward to recuperate. One week later, she was discharged from the hospital. After the car accident, my mother calmly accepted everything. She even treated the person responsible for the accident with a pleasant manner and could not bear to reproach him, nor did she request him for additional compensation. My mother said that when she was young and lived in a rural village, to take care of my grandmother, who had suffered a stroke, my mother had killed many black-boned chickens to stew with Chinese medicinal herbs to nourish my grandmother’s body. Rinpoche once expounded that as long as one has eaten even a bite of meat of sentient beings, this debt should be repaid. My mother accepted everything that happened with the mindset of repaying her debts. I am deeply grateful for Rinpoche’s blessings, which allowed my mother to receive a lessened effect of heavy karmic retribution. I also repent on behalf of my mother to the sentient beings who were harmed.
After my mother was discharged from the hospital, she was unable to take care of herself for a short period of time. All kinds of hardware equipment needed to care for her were seamlessly arranged, and we could rent them from the Department of Social Welfare or receive assistance from friends. All of this went so smoothly only because of Rinpoche’s blessings and protection. Rinpoche has continuously, over a long period of time, made donations to support the Social and Family Affairs Administration Ministry of Health and Welfare, and other related government agencies. This time, my mother benefited from many of the government’s social welfare policies, such as home care services, home rehabilitation, home nursing consultation, meal services, and respite services under the long-term care program. All of this is the protection of Rinpoche’s good fortune, merits, and fates! In addition, I am also grateful to Rinpoche for benefiting sentient beings by establishing the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic and sparing no cost to import Japanese food to take care of our health. After the surgery, my mother drank a large amount of Energizing Tonyu every day to supplement her nutrition, ate the Japanese food imported by the Glorious Jewel, and used Bao Yuan Gao, the Tibetan Secret Bath Powder, the medicinal wash, and precious Chinese medicinal herbs from the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic to recuperate her body. Only then was my elderly 75-year-old mother able to recover faster than expected! She could walk a short distance by herself without the assistance of a four-legged walker.
Starting in July 2022, due to osteoporosis, my mother successively suffered collapses of the first and second lumbar vertebrae and the twelfth thoracic vertebra. In less than two months, she underwent three minimally invasive spinal surgeries. During this period, whether lying down or sitting, she was in great pain and suffered unspeakably. After the surgeries, she had to swallow many anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving Western medicines every day, which caused gastric ulcers. She could not eat any food and could only barely drink some liquids. I am grateful to the guru for establishing the Japanese Food Shop. My mother relied on drinking Energizing Tonyu and soybean powder to replenish her strength every day. My mother accepted that all these sufferings from illness were the manifestation of karmic retribution and that she was repaying a debt again. Here, I want to repent on behalf of my mother to all the sentient beings she has harmed. Besides cooperating with the doctors’ treatment, she also actively carried out rehabilitation. In July 2023, my mother again underwent a bone density examination. From the most severe level of -3.9, it improved to -2.5. At that time, this 78-year-old elderly person was able to recover so quickly in less than a year. Now she can move about freely and smiles happily every day. I am grateful for Rinpoche’s blessings and protection.
When my mother heard that Rinpoche had established the ‘Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche Buddhist Foundation’ to accept donations from believers and disciples for the construction of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she was extremely delighted! She immediately donated monthly to the Monastery! I am grateful to Rinpoche for bestowing us, who live in the Age of Dharma Decline and lack in good fortune and fate, the opportunity to accumulate good fortune. My mother registered to participate in visiting the Monastery for the first time; however, on the evening before departure, she worried that her leg strength was poor, and she might not be able to participate. It turned out that a little after 8 p.m. that night, I received a call from the bus leader Dharma brother informing me that Rinpoche had instructed: ‘Taxis will be arranged to shuttle the visiting group the next day!’ Afterwards, my mother happily shared that she did not need to walk on the roads with uphill and downhill paths that would have required more leg strength. Although my mother had originally worried that there might be some burden on her legs, not only did that not occur, but she also happily bought many organic vegetables at the small farmers’ market and joyfully returned home fully loaded. I am grateful to Rinpoche; Rinpoche’s compassionate (maitrī and karuṇā) vow pervades the void and benefits all sentient beings, which is truly admirable!
On November 12, 2024, the consecration ceremony was held at the ‘Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’. I am grateful that the Founding Abbot Guru, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) showing mercy for the suffering sentient beings in the Age of Dharma Decline who have no fate to come into contact with Buddha Dharma and no end to get liberated, made the vow to construct the Monastery. Thanks to the thoughtful arrangements by Sino Travel Services, including hotel accommodation, transportation between the hotel and the village office, as well as shuttle buses to the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, which allowed my mother to participate in this incomparably wondrous consecration ceremony smoothly, perfectly, and joyfully. On December 21 of the same year, my mother, my younger sister Lian Hua, and I registered to visit the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. At the administrative center, we listened to the guide’s introduction about His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s pure lineage, the fate origin for constructing the Monastery, his vows behind its construction, the hardships during the construction process, and his life-risking dedication, as well as the care for the surrounding ecological environment and the commitment to environmental protection! This deeply moved us towards Rinpoche’s compassion(maitrī and karuṇā), bodhicitta, and the vow that cannot bear to see sentient beings suffering in reincarnation! After the explanation, our group slowly walked toward the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara Monastery and the Mahavira Hall to pay our respects and make prostrations! It was scenic along the way, and several rows of magnificent pine trees were exceedingly beautiful; the golden rooftop of the Mahavira Hall shone brilliantly, and it appeared extremely solemn when seen afar from different directions! Then, each of us visitors lined up to sequentially circumambulate the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara Monastery, paying respects and prostrating to the Thousand-Armed Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, as well as Green Tara and White Tara. It was remarkably incomparably wondrous.
The wood carvings of the Four Deva Kings on the Mahavira Hall doors are lifelike, and the nine Buddha statues inside the hall are tall, majestic, and solemn. During the period of our afternoon visit, it happened that four monastics were chanting mantras in front of the madala, and accompanied by the Dharma sound of Rinpoche chanting mantras, the entire atmosphere in the Mahavira Hall made one feel as if being in the pure and solemn Pure Land of Amitabha! I am grateful to Rinpoche! We were able to quietly, slowly, and calmly visit, pay respects to, and prostrate to the Monastery at close range, carefully paying respects and making prostrations to the details inside and outside the Mahavira Hall. The 360-degree surrounding water cascade of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara Monastery, the imagery of the reflecting pool, and the three solemn and majestic Avalokiteshvara statues allowed us to even more deeply feel the connection between Rinpoche’s meticulous design of the Monastery’s details and the incomparably wondrous Buddha Dharma Rinpoche expounded. The Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is truly a treasure land that integrates Buddha Dharma and the essence of art!
Rinpoche expounded that the purpose of Rinpoche enduring countless hardships to construct the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is for all sentient beings to have a pure Buddhist Monastery to pay respects and make prostrations. Before and after the construction of the Monastery, Rinpoche spared no effort and performed Four Fire Offering Liturgies respectively. For such a pure and incomparably wondrous Monastery, we ourselves should frequently go to pay respects and make prostrations, and we must also continuously praise the guru so that more people can come to the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, receiving Rinpoche’s compassionate (maitrī and karuṇā) blessings.
Next, I would like to share how Rinpoche has compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) transferred the consciousness of my father, who died in a car accident. My father passed away in 1980 due to a rollover accident on the highway while riding in a construction vehicle. At that time, no one in our family had any contact with or had heard of Buddha Dharma, and we had no concept of the impermanence of death at all. We did not understand that my father’s sudden and violent death was the karmic retribution caused by the heavy killing karma from accumulated past lifetimes! Here, Gui Hua deeply repents on behalf of my father to countless sentient beings he has harmed from accumulated past lifetimes and kalpas!
After my father passed away, my mother had to single-handedly endure hardships to raise my elder brother, me, and my younger sister, who was young, while also supporting my elderly grandfather. All the financial burdens fell on my mother alone, and she suffered physically, mentally, and spiritually. Thus, my mother began to come into contact with sutras of Exoteric Buddhism, listen to Buddha Dharma, participate in volunteer activities, and do some of what public Buddhists call practicing virtuousness and making offerings, gradually accumulating a little good fortune and virtuous fate! My elderly grandfather safely passed through two critical illnesses in his later years, and our family has always been deeply grateful for the benevolence of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
At the beginning of 2010, my younger sister had the fate to reverently read Rinpoche’s book Happiness and Suffering. After reading it, she felt amazed and wished to take refuge in Rinpoche to learn Buddhism. However, as for taking refuge in Rinpoche, one must be vegetarian in this lifetime to be qualified. One day, my younger sister suggested that the whole family switch to a vegetarian diet, and my mother immediately decided that the entire family would become vegetarian. Now, even my elder brother, who had originally been unable to make up his mind to become a vegetarian, under the influence of various virtuous fates, also became a vegetarian three years ago, thus perfectly fulfilling my mother’s wish. I am grateful for Rinpoche’s blessings!
In 2019, one day, my younger sister dreamed of my father. In the dream, my father’s face was somewhat transparent, with a sky-blue color, and his face also became extremely young. During his lifetime, my father had not recited even a single Buddha’s name or chanted a single mantra, nor had he come into contact with or listened to Buddha Dharma, and even more, he did not have the good fortune to draw near any virtuous friends or great practitioners. It turned out that in the dream, my father unexpectedly said to my younger sister, ‘I am grateful to Rinpoche for ceaselessly rescuing me!’For my father to have such good fortune now, everything is due to Rinpoche’s great awe-inspiring power and great power of merits, compassionately (maitrī and karuṇā) rescuing him! I am truly and deeply grateful to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche!
Next, I will openly repent: I repent that I have an arrogant character, think highly of myself, and am highly impatient toward others! Here, I repent to the guru that I still have numerous of my own thoughts, haven’t practiced according to the teachings, have not completely surrendered to the guru, have not ceaselessly kept the guru in mind, and have not placed the guru in the first place! I repent that I have not served the guru dedicatedly; I repent for my laziness, slackness, and not applying each aspect of Buddha Dharma in daily life. I repent that throughout accumulated past lifetimes and kalpas, the five poisons and habits of greed, hatred, ignorance, doubt, and arrogance have been strong, and I repent to the countless sentient beings I have harmed from accumulated past lifetimes and kalpas due to delusions!
As for all the evil karma I have created in this lifetime and from accumulated past lifetimes, I now repent from my heart. I will continuously and unceasingly make corrections and take the Thirty-Seven Practices of Bodhisattvas as the basis to correct myself to repay the benevolence of the Buddha, the guru, my parents, and sentient beings. I will strive to correct my body, speech, and mind, and diligently practice the Six Paramitas! Taking Rinpoche as my example, I will learn the Bodhisattva Path to benefit sentient beings! I vow to follow the guru and practice in accordance with the teachings!
I pray for His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s good health; the Dharma wheel turns unceasingly; the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is perfectly and smoothly constructed; Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Dharma lineage spreads eternally. I thank all fellow believers and Dharma brothers for listening patiently!
