Puja Teachings Index-Huayuan

Huayuan

Definition: Originally refers to the practice established by Shakyamuni Buddha, in which monks were instructed to go into villages each day to beg for food. This allowed people to form fate with the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and practitioners by making offerings of food. In turn, the monks who received these offerings would, when the causes and conditions ripened, repay the generosity by teaching them the Dharma.
