His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang inaugurated the new puja venue in Kyoto 2008
On May 29, 2008, invited by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Abbot of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taiwan, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang visited the newly-built Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center of Drikung Kagyu Order in Kyoto, Japan, and presided over its inauguration ceremony.
Main Entrance of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto. With traditional Japanese style buildings and a pair of guarding stone creatures, the center is bathed in a sublime and harmonious atmosphere.
Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche addressed the attendees and encouraged the Japanese guests to visit the venue more often so as to understand the Drikung Kagyu lineage and the extraordinary Buddhist doctrine.
His Holiness presented Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche with a sutra text. It served as a symbolic representation of the continuing propagation of the teachings of the almost one-thousand-year-old Drikung Kagyu Order.
His Holiness presented Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche with a statue of Buddha Amitayus from the sacred land of Lapchi, Nepal. It was a symbolic representation of the arrival of Buddha Amitayus to the new Kyoto center.
Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche showed His Holiness specially-made thangkas of Lord Jigten Sumgön, the lineage founder.
His Holiness signed every single thangka.
His Holiness presented every guest at the inauguration ceremony with a thangka bearing his personal signature.
His Holiness led Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to conduct a fire puja and the rain, which had lasted a long time, stopped abruptly.
A sublime and extraordinary fire puja was held to benefit innumerable sentient beings in the universe.
During the fire puja, a big blast of wind came out of the blue and made the flames thrive.
The Hung symbol of Drikung Kagyu can be seen on the gable structure at the facade of the main building. Now that Drikung Kagyu flags are flying in Japan, the lineage will also be wide spread on this land.
His Holiness led Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to pray and cut ribbon for the new puja venue.

The grand inauguration ceremony was attended by around 100 people, including 40 local guests from Japan, guests from India and Taiwan, and disciples from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taiwan.
