On November 9 2008, the His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will conduct the auspicious Chod puja of Drikung Kagyu lineage of the Tibetan Buddhism in Jalandhar of the northern Indian to grant the request by Indian Sikh. Jalandhar is the main city of Punjab province where is industrialized and prosperous, and its majority believe in Sikh religion. In October 2006, the Most Venerable Richen Dorjee Rinpoche not only was invited as the chief guest but also delivered a speech in the anniversary celebration of M.G.N., the most famous school in Jalandhar. In addition on February 25, 2007, the Most Venerable Richen Dorjee Rinpoche also conducted a puja, attended by about 700 local people, to transmit Avalokiteshvara Dharma, in Jalandhar. Besides Sakyamuni Buddha, it was the first time in the history that, a Vajrayana master conducted a puja to transmit Buddha-Dharma to Sikh people in Sikh region. After the puja the local elder Sikhs requested Rinpoche to visit twice a year to guide their people with Buddhism. It is the second time that Rinpoche is invited to conduct a puja, which will be the auspicious Chod puja of Drikung Kagyu lineage of the Tibetan Buddhism.
“Chod” is one of the Eight Sadhana practices in Tibetan Buddhism, and would immensely benefit the attendees as well as their relatives and those all sentient beings with causes and conditions. “Chod” is hard to attain, to learn and to practice and the “Chod” ritual instrument as required as Dharma is rare. It is extremely difficult to conduct the “Chod” puja in the public; the practitioner should possess great mercy and compassion of void of nature, and deep and profound meditation to complete the Chod practice perfectly. In 2000, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche received the empowerment of “Chod” from His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche and accomplished the practice bestowed upon by His Holiness. Then in 2006, His Holiness bestowed upon Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche a rare and auspicious “Chod” ritual instrument, which was used by His Holiness himself to perform Chod, symbolizing that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has directly received the transmission of Chod teaching from His Holiness. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is also the Vajrayana master to conduct a 1000 people Chod puja in public in the Drikung Kagyu Sect at present. Over the past decades in Taiwan, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has been conducting Chod pujas on a regular basis to help myriads of believers and disciples to transfer the consciousnesses of their relatives, ancestors, and karmic debtors in past lives and to eliminate their karma and obstacle. An incredible number of beings in the six realms have been liberated through this practice. The cancers, severe illness and chronic disease of many attendees’ have been improved or even vanished. Those patients in deep coma have gradually convalesced because their spouses and relatives attended the Chod pujas with piety and utmost faith in Rinpoche. Currently, the Chod puja is held once a month and there are more than one thousand people each time, including the believers from Japan, India, Australia and Holland particularly coming for the puja by airplane.
Moreover, in 2006, the Most Venerable Richen Dorjee Rinpoche ever conducted the Chod Puja in Holland by the request of local believers. In November 2007, Richen Dorjee Rinpoche also ever conducted the Chod Puja on the Sagano Sight-seeing Tram in Kyoto, Japan. That was the very first Chod performed on a running train in both Japan and in the world history. On Aug 2008, Rinpoche again conducted the first Chod puja in public in the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan since it has been founded. Countless sentient beings have gained great benefit by these two Chod pujas and the local European and Japanese believers exclaimed in praise of the greatness of Buddha-Dharma and Rinpoche’s mercy and compassion. The puja on November 11 2008 will be the first “Chod” puja in Sikh area and definitely will be auspicious and completed perfectly. Thus countless sentient beings will be benefited.
