His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, Dharma Lord of the Drikung Kagyu Order, visited Taiwan on November 21st, 2013. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche personally led five hundred disciples from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center to the airport to give a reverent welcome to the Three-Grace Root Guru—His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang.

So as to be able to greet His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang at the earliest possible moment, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche arrived at the airport in advance, and was already waiting at the lounge to reverently welcome His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang before the plane had even arrived. As soon as the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang stepped out of the passenger cabin, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche approached to respectfully present a khata, after which he walked in attendance alongside His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, accompanying the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang step by step through the immigration process. Under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s careful arrangements and attendance, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang took one of the airport’s electric-powered vehicles and rapidly cleared customs.

Under His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s guidance, five hundred disciples from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center lined up in an orderly formation in the main lobby of the airport to give a reverent welcome to the Dharma Lord, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. At around 10:30 that evening, with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in attendance, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang quickly got through customs and walked into the main lobby of the airport.

The five hundred disciples from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center held up a red cloth on which was printed, “A Reverent Welcome to Taiwan to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, the 37th throne holder of the Drikung Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism, from the Disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center Led by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.” Giving a neat greeting, they waved flags of the Drikung Kagyu Order and the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center with great enthusiasm, joyously and respectfully welcoming His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang.

When His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang set foot in the airport’s main lobby, the leading ordained disciple representatives immediately presented fresh flowers and a khata to the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang compassionately accepted the flowers and khata, and waved at everybody amiably. While passing before the welcoming team from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang glanced around meaningfully and bestowed blessings. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche followed His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang in close attendance the whole way, and personally helped the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang into a car that had been decorated with the five-color khata. Preceded and escorted by the motorcade, they left the airport.

This pick-up at the airport proceeded smoothly and auspiciously, and came to a perfect completion. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had made extremely meticulous and perfect plans and arrangements well in advance to welcome His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang with great hospitableness, causing the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to be able to propagate the Dharma in a safe, comfortable environment from the moment he set foot in Taiwan. This shows the utmost respect, devotion, and gratitude Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has for the Three-Grace Root Guru, and how Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche wholeheartedly supports and promotes the pure lineage of the Drikung Kagyu Order.

We are grateful for His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings and leadership, and for giving the Glorious Jewel disciples this auspicious and virtuous causal condition to follow His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in reverently welcoming the Dharma Lord, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, to Taiwan. We pray that His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang will have good health, and that the Drikung Kagyu Lineage will flourish forever.
