On August 16th, 2013, His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will preside over the auspicious ” Ksitigarbha Blessing Puja ” at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan. The Dharma includes Kriyayoga and Charyayoga. Japanese disciples and believers will participate together with disciples and believers from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taiwan. Ever since the inauguration of the Kyoto Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in May of 2008, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has returned every year on the day of the “Daimonji Festival,” an annual memorial ancestor worship day for the area, to hold this auspicious puja at the Kyoto Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, using pure Dharma to benefit all sentient beings, relieve the countless sentient beings in the Six Realms of their suffering, and help them to attain happiness.
Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha is one of the eight great Bodhisattvas, and has a profound affinity with Japan. Because the Bodhisattva is deeply revered by the Japanese people, Buddhist statues of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha can be seen all over the streets and alleyways throughout Japan. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche once stated that the “Ksiti” in “Ksitigarbha” means that Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha’s compassion, like the Earth, nourishes and enables sentient beings to learn Buddhism, whereas “garbha” refers to the Bodhicitta of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, which allows all sentient beings to receive benefits. Even if one descends into the Evil Realms, as long as one can remember a Buddha’s name, one can still be liberated by Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha. Furthermore, the Dharma method of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha can eliminate sentient beings’ afflictions and sorrows.
Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha vowed not to attain Buddhahood until all hells are emptied. As such, there are strict terms and conditions for both practitioners and the location in which the Dharma is performed. A practitioner performing the Dharma method of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha must be very pure and possess the Ultimate Bodhicitta. Moreover, the location in which the Dharma is performed must also be pure, and no living beings can have been killed there; it cannot be a graveyard, a crematorium, a place where a battle has been fought, or the site of a natural disaster. According to Kyoto’s historical records, for centuries no disasters have occurred at the location of the Kyoto Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, so performing the Dharma in that location is quite appropriate. From this it can be seen that it is an extremely rare and precious opportunity to have sufficient causal condition to participate in the “Ksitigarbha Puja” presided over by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto.
The massive earthquake that occurred in northeastern Japan in 2011 severely traumatized the Japanese nation and its people, causing many Japanese citizens to sink into an endless misery. In October of 2012, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presided over the “Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness” in the northeastern Japanese city of Ishinomaki in order to liberate sentient beings that had suffered and passed away during the terrible earthquake and its resulting tsunami. Again in January of this year (2013), the guru presided over the “Ksitigarbha Blessing Puja” at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto. The upcoming puja will be the second “Ksitigarbha Blessing Puja” to be held in Japan this year, and will certainly be able to benefit countless sentient beings in the Six Realms and cause the Japanese nation and its people to receive the broad protection of the highest of merits.
His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche constantly responds to the needs of sentient beings in Kyoto, Japan, showering them with the purest Dharma benefits and bringing incredible blessings to Japan and world peace. If the attendees participating in the puja have faith, respect, and an aspiration to relieve the suffering of sentient beings, then their afflictions and sorrows will certainly be eliminated, their lifespans, virtue, and wisdom increased, and their lives filled with peace and harmony.
