His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, abbot and guru of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, will be presiding over the auspicious “Acalanatha Fire Puja” at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan on May 25, 2012. About 30 Japanese VIPs and disciples are anticipated to attend it, along with 212 disciples and believers of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taiwan. This event will be held to not only commemorate the fourth anniversary of the inauguration of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, but also pray for blessings for Japan to increase blessed rewards for Japan as a country and the Japanese people.

The “Fire Offering” ritual is a very auspicious Tantra within Tibetan Buddhism, which can only be performed by a practitioner having the level of accomplishment as a Rinpoche. What Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will be performing this time is the “Acalanatha Fire Puja,” with Acalanatha as the main Yidam to whom the fire offering will be made. “The Fire Offering” ritual refers to the Dharma method of Pacification – one of the four methods that include “Pacifying to cease calamities, increasing benefits, empowering with reverence and kindness, and subduing wrath”, which would bring incredible power of blessings in appeasing ghosts and demons, eliminating disasters and calamities, bringing about good fortune and avoiding evil omens. It can also subdue the demons of death, illness, heaven, and affliction, as well as eliminating hindrances of learning Buddhism. Acalanatha has a particularly profound affinity with Japan and is highly revered there through offerings and prostration. A Buddha statue of Acalanatha is especially enshrined in the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan, which was reverently transferred by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche from Yunnan to Japan many years ago, showing the profound affinity between Acalanatha and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche as well as the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Japan.

Since the inauguration of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center on May 29, 2008 when His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang led Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in performing the Fire Offering ritual, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has been presiding over the Fire Puja at this Japanese Buddhist Center every year, giving charity to sentient beings in the void and bringing limitless benefits to sentient beings in the Six Realms, in addition to promoting the teachings of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and making sincere offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
