In November of 2011, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will lead his disciples on a trip to India. On November 10, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will preside over the auspicious Dorje Phurba Puja in Jalandhar, a city in Punjab Province of northern India. Then on November 12 and 13, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will lead his disciples to the Jangchubling Monastery in Dehradu to attend the Winter Teachings of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage.

Since 2007, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has consented three times to the supplications of the local Sikh to preside over Tibetan Buddhist pujas in this important Sikh city, Jalandhar. In the past, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche performed Avalokiteshvara Dharma, Chod Dharma, and Amitayus Dharma, respectively, to benefit sentient beings. Around 250 to 320 Indians participated in each puja. The puja attendees, deeply touched by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s mercy and compassion, gave rise to immense reverence. They showed their greatest submission and joy with the utmost reverent ritual of touching Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s feet with their foreheads. A Sikh elder even implored Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to guide their people with Buddhism, and to visit the region twice a year to propagate the teachings.

Local newspapers reported Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Dharma-propagating activities with prominent headlines. One journalist even praised Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche as the most precious gift they had received from heaven. Every time Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche stayed in the area, many people came to seek an audience. Despite his fatigue, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche always bestowed teachings and blessings upon them. These events all signify that the selfless compassion of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and the incredible power of the Buddhist teachings already surpass the boundaries of race, region, language, and culture, and benefit countless sentient beings.

Upon perfect completion of the puja in Jalandhar in 2009, the local believers pleaded with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to come again and hold more pujas for them. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately consented to the pleading of the Indian believers, and this brought about this year’s Dorje Phurba Puja. Dorje Phurba, the wrathful Yidam of Vajrasattva, is an extremely important Yidam in the Vajra Teachings. In order for the Dorje Phurba Puja to benefit beings, it must be performed by a practitioner who has accomplished the highest level of mercy and compassion. The benefit of attending a Dorje Phurba Puja is ridding one’s self of mental and brain diseases. It can also treat all unknown diseases and cancers, caused by ghosts, demons, nagas, and gods.

In 2004, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche perfectly completed his sixth retreat in Jangchubling, India, and achieved the attainment of Dorje Phurba Dharma and the attunement to Dorje Phurba Yidam. At the moment when Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche attuned to the Yidam, the Dorje Phurba Yidam arrived. Suddenly, terrible thunder was heard in the rainless and cloudless sky. The tremendous strength of the thunder made the whole retreat room shake violently, even more than the shaking caused by a powerful earthquake.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has performed the Dorje Phurba Dharma several times. During the course of performing the ritual and reciting the mantra, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche manifested auspicious signs in sounds and appearances that ordinary people cannot make, in attunement to the Yidam. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche rumbled with the sound of roaring thunders, and manifested the wrathful form of vertical eyebrows, protruding eyes, and a stretched mouth, a form identical to the appearance of the wrathful Dorje Phurba Yidam. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s awe-inspiring power while performing the Dharma at the venue was so great and incredible that nearly a thousand attendees remained seated and still, and many infants among them did not make any sounds or cry either! This indicates that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings, with performing the Dorje Phurba Puja, are tremendously powerful. They can help believers eliminate obstacles of learning Buddhism, and, thus, benefit innumerable sentient beings.

Hevajra is the sadhana (method of accomplishment) of Master Marpa, the forefather of the Kagyu Order. This Dharma has not been transmitted nor been performed in the Drikung Kagyu Lineage for 200 to 300 years. His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang spent three to four years collecting and sorting out the related materials and transmitting the essence of the Dharma to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang also instructed Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to perform a three-month solitary retreat on Lapchi Snow Mountain to practice Hevajra. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is the first Rinpoche who follows His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to perfectly perform a solitary retreat of Hevajra in Drikung Kagyu history.

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will lead disciples to attend the Winter Teachings of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage in India in order to generate the perfect cause and condition for Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center to obtain the auspicious Hevajra Lineage. This manifests Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s reverence and gratitude, that he spares no effort to propagate the Drikung Kagyu Lineage, protecting and supporting the Buddhist activities of his three-grace root guru, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang.
