On June 30th, 2010, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang finished his trip to Taiwan during his World Dharma Tour 2010 and departed from Taiwan on an evening flight. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche personally accompanied His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to the airport and escorted His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang all the way to the plane. At the Taiwan Taoyuan Airport, many Rinpoches, lamas, and believers of Drikung Kagyu Lineage in Taiwan waited reverently to see His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang off. Furthermore, an orderly procession by 400 disciples from the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center had come earlier to wait for His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Following the strict instruction of their Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, 400 of the disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center stood in the well-ordered procession, which was eye-catching but aroused little inconvenience of the passers-by. When His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, escorted by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, arrived at the departure hall of the airport, the Rinpoches, lamas, and believers all came up to pay their respect to His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. The disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center waved flags of the Drikung Kagyu Order and the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, gratefully greeting His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and the accompanying Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. The waiting reporters from various Taiwanese press media took photos at this warm moment and had a brief interview with His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang right in front of the red banner for H.H.’s departure, held by the disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center.

His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang’s most important scheduled task during his stay in Taiwan was to preside over The Grand 793rd Anniversary Memorial Puja of Drikung Kagyu Lord Jigten Sumgön at the Taipei Arena on June 6th. This puja, coordinated by Glorious Jewel Buddhism Culture Exchange Association, was attended by 14,000 people. Because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche exercised circumspection while making arrangements for the puja and, in particular, because His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, and all the previous gurus of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage had bestowed blessings, the puja completed in utter solemnity and perfection. There was noticeable coverage by major Taiwanese press media about the puja. Moreover, Chinese Television System and Era TV even held special interviews with His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. During his stay in Taiwan, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang also went to the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center on June 13th at the imploration of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to have tea gathering with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and Rinpoche’s disciples as well as to bestow upon them the Buddhist teachings.

Having been interviewed by the media at the airport, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang smiled and waved goodbye to the waiting disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center before entering the departure lounge with the accompanying Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang then left Taiwan by air and continued his Dharma tour. As His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, came to Taiwan and hosted a puja, the attendees of the puja were greatly benefited, and Taiwan was granted auspicious blessings. It is so grateful to the venerable His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang for his painstaking propagation the Buddhist teachings, and to the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for his immense efforts to bring an opportunity for Taiwan and the sentient beings to form virtuous connections with a great accomplished master and auspicious lineage!
