From November end to early December, 2006, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche led 50 disciples to pay homage to Yunga Rinpoche, one of his root gurus, as previously instructed by Yunga Rinpoche. It was a long and fatiguing journey, taking 4-day time to climb over the 5000-meter-high Tanglha Mountain and to travel through the severe cold area of -11 degrees centigrade, merely to meet his Guru for 30 minutes. Before entering the retreat room, Yunga Rinpoche asked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to wait outsides for a while so that they could clean out the cushion for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in advance. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche offered a khata and offerings as soon as he stepped into Yunga Rinpoche’s retreat room. Yunga Rinpoche gave him a statue of Manjushuri and asked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to sit on the cushion prepared by the attendant. Afterward, He blessed Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche with a volume of sutra and prophesied that “the merits of all the Buddhas of the Ten Directions and Three Ages are in Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche” and “Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is capable of liberating all the sentient beings in six realms.” This trip illustrates how a master values his disciple of great talent, what a disciple’s fully obedience to his root guru in Tibetan Buddhism, and is of great significance in passing on the Drikung Kagyu teachings.
