— Announced on the “Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness” in Taipei Arena on Oct. 4th 2009
(Speech announced in Chinese; translated by Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center)

Welcome here today to attend the “Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness” of Drikung Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

The flood disaster of August of this year in Taiwan made dramatic changes to the land as well as a large number of families separated. Such happenings remind us how insignificant we human beings are in the nature environment, and the how important the immediate environmental protection is. All composite phenomena in the world are impermanent. All births will end with deaths. All construction will fall. We meet together today will separate someday. Therefore, we’d better have good understandings of the impermanence as well as the right attitude toward it. It is very important to face reality, by which the sufferings will be less reduced. Being far away in India, I had been being constantly concerned about the related news, and, in each of the teachings, performing rituals to pray for all victims and people in the disaster area and also dedicating all merits to them. This time, I would like to contribute 2 million NTD through my root disciple Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to the Taiwan’s Department of Social Affairs, Ministry of the Interior as the donation to the post-disaster reconstruction fund of this flood disaster. I wish it will give a little help to the stricken people.

It has been many years since I presided over a puja in Taoyuan, Taiwan in 2002. (At that time, two precious and auspicious Dharma, Phowa and Lohma Jolma that was transmitted from Lord Jigten Sumgon, the founder of Drikung Kagyu, were performed.) Now this year 2009 happens to be the 830 anniversary of Drikung Kagyu Lineage founded by Lord Jigten Sumgon (, and the 500th Anniversary of the birth and 100th Anniversary of the birth of two Drikung Kyabgon Rinpoches). I will come back to Taiwan again next year, and schedule, in cooperation of all Drikung Kagyu centers in Taiwan, to preside over a puja on June 6, 2010 for all of you, and wish pray for you and make virtuous connection with you.
