The Consecration Ceremony of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery Presided Over by His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was Perfectly Completed
On November 12, 2024, an auspicious and extraordinary day, His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the founding abbot of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery, personally presided over the Monastery’s Grand Consecration Ceremony. At Rinpoche’s heartfelt request, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche bestowed this auspicious date for the consecration. Over two thousand disciples and devotees from around the world gathered for the occasion, with the fourfold Buddhist assembly present, to participate in this most rare and precious event. Rinpoche expounded that the consecration of a monastery allows the blessings and light of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to illuminate both the monastery and all practitioners, bringing auspiciousness to all.
In order to propagate the Dharma and benefit sentient beings, His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, despite being over 70 years old, generated vast bodhicitta and undertook the great responsibility of building a monastery to preserve and transmit the Dharma lineage. Since 2015, when Rinpoche began searching for suitable land for the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery, he has adhered strictly to government regulations, and—without the slightest assistance from the lineage—shouldered single-handedly the arduous task of constructing the monastery. For nearly a decade, Rinpoche has invested immeasurable effort, time, and money, enduring countless unimaginable hardships and obstacles, and Rinpoche’s Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery has today finally reached the auspicious occasion of its Consecration Ceremony. In preparation for the perfect completion of the puja, beginning in the ninth lunar month, Rinpoche has personally performed the four fire offering rituals of santikarma (Puja Teachings Index 25), vasikarana (Puja Teachings Index 26), paustikakarma (Puja Teachings Index 27), and raudrakarman (Puja Teachings Index 28) at the monastery, dedicating them to ensure auspiciousness for the monastery and all future practitioners.
The Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery is the first Drikung Kagyu monastery established in Taiwan, and the first in the more than 800-year history of the Drikung Kagyu lineage to be built outside of Tibet by a Ngakpa (Puja Teachings Index 2), non-reincarnated Rinpoche of Han ethnicity. The construction of The Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery was inspired by the great compassionate vow power of His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and has consistently received the commendation and support of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. The Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery is a Hevajra Dharma Buddhist Center, open to monastics and lay practitioners. Rinpoche upholds the spirit of benefiting sentient beings through authentic Buddhism, and the monastery focuses on practice and retreat. The Glorious Jewel Buddhist Monastery will continue to transmit the pure and incomparably wondrous lineage of His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, benefiting countless sentient beings through the Buddha Dharma.
Early on the day of the puja, as the attendees entered the monastery grounds, a miraculous fragrance filled the air, and birds sang joyfully. The monastery’s golden stupa gleamed brilliantly under the sunlight. The bodhicitta vow of His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche radiates endlessly, bestowing blessings upon all sentient beings without limit.
