Precious Video Series – A Travelogue of Spreading the Dharma Overseas – A Great Practitioner Under the Bodhi Tree of Ananda
On October 29th, 2018, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche led more than 170 disciples to make a pilgrimage to Shravasti in India, participating in Shravasti stupa’s grand consecration ceremony. The stupa was constructed under the directions of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. This stupa is in a style of mandala architecture, and is to commemorate Shakyamuni Buddha’s teachings on Mahayana and Vajrayana in Shravasti. In 2013, His Holiness put the Great Shravasti Revitalization Project into motion. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche supported the project with all his heart and efforts and donated more than US$2 million. Now, the good affinities have at last borne fruit. The dignified Shravasti stupa was built to perfect completion, and its grand consecration ceremony was held.
After the perfect completion of the consecration puja, Rinpoche led the disciples to an area under the Bodhi Tree of Ananda in Jetavana.
As Shakyamuni Buddha had expounded the Dharma in Jetavana for 25 years, the people of Shravasti, from long time ago, have already regarded this Bodhi Tree as Buddha Himself. It is surrounded and protected by fences and has been watched over by security guards on duty. Ordinary people cannot enter the Bodhi Tree Park, not to mention sitting peacefully under the Tree to expound the Dharma.
His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is a great practitioner who has attained a fruition level through genuine cultivation, and he possesses unfathomable merits and wisdom. His majestic dignity appears naturally, which makes sentient beings give rise to respect and joy in their hearts. When Rinpoche led more than 170 disciples to Bodhi Tree Park, its security guard’s sense of respect arose spontaneously, and he took the initiative to open the gate, welcoming Rinpoche for leading disciples in. This was entirely the result of the manifestation of all-embracing power of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche that he had attained through the accomplishments and capability in his practices.
After Rinpoche entered the Park, he sat under the Bodhi Tree peacefully and spoke to the disciples about meditation and the conditions required for being reborn in the Pure Land. He also taught them the way of doing sitting in meditation. 2,500 years ago, the Buddha had expounded the Dharma here. Then, 2,500 years later, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has been passed down the Right Dharma of the Buddha, and has promoted the Dharma to benefit sentient beings with immense bodhicitta vows. Rinpoche’s merits and activities have blended with and been attuned to the Buddha’s with no differences existing. He has thus naturally obtained the protection and support from nagas, devas and Dharma protectors. This made him being able to speak of the Dharma here. During the teaching, Rinpoche’s Dharma voice was resounding, pure and dignified; the listeners felt like they were in the Buddha’s Pure Land.
Rinpoche has spread the Right Dharma unceasingly, and has always let his disciples accumulate resources and good fortune. Under the protection of Rinpoche’s great sea of merits, the disciples had obtained such auspicious causes and conditions, following their guru’s steps to be close to the sacred relics of the Buddha, and sitting upright to listen to the guru’s teachings at this place. The disciples profoundly realized that their guru’s compassion and wisdom were everywhere.
Rinpoche also guided the disciples to sit in silence, and then dedicated all merits to all sentient beings in the Dharma Realm. Afterward, he led the disciples to recite the Aspiration Prayer for Rebirth in Amitabha’s Pure Land of Utmost Bliss three times. Next, Rinpoche instructed the disciples to walk around the Bodhi Tree three times while silently chanting Shakyamuni Buddha’s sacred name to themselves. After everything had been finished to perfect completion, Rinpoche led the disciples to leave Jetavana.
Along the way, practitioners and believers from different countries and conversing in various languages all paid their respects to Rinpoche with palms of their hands joined together. Rinpoche also smiled and returned the gesture. The demeanor of a great practitioner appears naturally, and is quite amazing!
