Immense Compassion for Sentient Beings: Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche Performs the Dharma to Pray for Blessings and Makes Donations to the Disaster Relief Fund for Southern Taiwan

At 3:57 in the morning of February 6th, 2016, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale hit southern Taiwan, causing severe damage to the city of Tainan.

This powerful quake destroyed many homes and caused casualties among numerous families’ members, resulting in more than a hundred people dead and inestimable property damage. Suddenly having nothing on which to depend, both physically and emotionally, the populace was plunged into a nightmare of fear and suffering. To make matters worse, the earthquake’s occurrence had coincided with the New Year—right during the season of family reunions, causing the enormity of this misfortune to hit home with a tragic vengeance.

With utmost compassion for sentient beings in their suffering, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche immediately acted on behalf of the Buddhism Foundation of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to donate NT$1 million toward disaster relief efforts, and gave another NT$1 million of his own money as well. Additionally, the Glorious Jewel Group and the Glorious Jewel Buddhism Culture Exchange Association, over which Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presides, donated NT$1 million and NT$500,000, respectively, to the “Tainan Municipal Bureau of Civil Affairs Disaster Relief Fund Account” to help earthquake victims be resettled and enable them to rebuild their homes as soon as possible. The various television news networks each employed scrolling latest-news marquees to report Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s donations to the disaster relief fund.

Furthermore, on February 6th, the same day the earthquake occurred, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche held a Guru Yoga Puja at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center. All of the merits generated during the puja were dedicated to sentient beings in Tainan to console the disaster victims and reduce the level of horror and anxiety they felt.

For many years, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has continuously promoted Buddhism all over the world, giving both spiritual and practical assistance to sentient beings in accordance with their various causal conditions. It is the guru’s hope that all sentient beings in the Six Realms can obtain help from the Dharma.
