At the sincere invitation of the local Tourism Organization in Japan, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche – abbot-guru of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, will be presiding over the auspicious Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness of the Drikung Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism at Ishinomaki Grand Hotel of Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture in the Tohoku region of Japan on October 21, 2012. This Puja will be the first such event to be presided over by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in the Tohoku region of Japan, where Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will liberate all sentient beings that suffered and died due to Japan’s Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. The Puja will be attended by Japanese disciples, believers, and more than 100 disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center of Taiwan.

The Earthquake and Tsunami that took place in the Tohoku of Japan on March 11, 2011 was the worst natural disaster suffered by Japan since the end of World War II. More than 15,000 people died or went missing, leaving many broken families and plunging them into endless suffering, in addition to innumerable property and economic loss. With thoughts of benefiting sentient beings constantly on his mind and vows to liberate all sentient beings from the suffering sea of reincarnation, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately accepted the sincere invitation of the local Tourism Organization in Japan to preside over the auspicious Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture – one of the three worst-hit prefectures in the Tohoku region of Japan, to liberate the Japanese people and countless other sentient beings who suffered and died due to the Tsunami. This rare and auspicious Puja will be the first such event for Transferring Consciousness in Ishinomaki City in many years, thus it will bring boundless Dharma benefits to innumerable suffering sentient beings.

The word “Indiscriminate” as in the auspicious Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness means that “The Puja will be all-embracing without any hindrance.” Therefore, no special board will be established in honor of “major donors,” and all sentient beings that have the affinity to attend the Puja will be able to receive blessings and protection of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas free of charge on an equal footing. The Great Amitabha Dharma for Transferring Consciousness is the auspicious Earth Terma Tantra of the Drikung Kagyu Order, which requires that the presiding guru must have attained accomplishment through strict cultivation stages. He must also have achieved the fruition of a Rinpoche whose only purpose is to help sentient beings leave suffering and attain bliss with his Compassion of Emptiness. This Dharma can help the deceased and all sentient beings in the void avoid falling into the Evil Realms and go to the Virtuous Realms, or even be liberated to Amitabha’s Pure Land. If the attendees of the Puja have faith and reverence, they will increase their blessed rewards and merits as well.

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has presided over the annual Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness in Taiwan for eight years in a row since 2005, and also presided over the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness in the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan in 2010, bringing benefits to innumerable sentient beings. This Puja will be the first such auspicious event to be presided over by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in the Tohoku region of Japan to liberate the sentient beings in the affected areas of the Tohoku Tsunami of Japan as well as pray for blessings for the land of Japan and its people. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche stated, “I shall be by your side if you need me, no matter who and where you are.” As long as sentient beings have suffering and the need to be liberated, regardless where they are, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would tirelessly help all the sentient beings in the Six Realms leave suffering and attain bliss, so that they can receive boundless Dharma benefits from the Puja.
