June 14, 2012 is the designated memorial day of Drikung Kagyu Lord Jigten Sumgon. On this day, under the direct guidance of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center specially presided over the Grand Memorial Puja Commemorating the 795th Anniversary of Drikung Kagyu Lord Jigten Sumgon of the Drikung Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism at Taipei International Convention Center.
With the blessings and protection of Drikung Kagyu Lord Jigten Sumgon, patriarchs of all the generations of the Drikung Kagyu Order, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, and Protector Achi, no advertisements or public announcement bulletin have been posted for this Grand Puja, which nevertheless has been attended by more than 3,400 people, including three Khenpos and three lamas of the Drikung Kagyu Order, one lama of the Gelukpa Order, and 74 ordained practitioners of Exoteric Buddhism. This auspicious Grand Puja had the all-inclusive participation of the fourfold assembly from both Exoteric and Esoteric Buddhism.
No fees have been charged for attendance of this Puja; nor have there been any commercial activities such as charity sales. Furthermore, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has donated all the money received from attending believers in the form of offerings – a total of over NT$2.48 million – to the Department of Social Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior as funds for charity and social welfare. The Puja has been a pure and perfect event that has brought benefits to limitless sentient beings, and filled the attendees of the fourfold assembly with Dharma joy.
