His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will preside over an auspicious puja to perform the Chod and Buddha Amitayus Rituals at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan on December 31, 2011.

The Chod is a very auspicious Dharma method for liberation of the deceased in Tibetan Buddhism. It is especially helpful to people who have died untimely deaths, such as through accidents and suicide.  Propagating Buddhism in Taiwan for over ten years, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche holds the Chod Puja regularly to benefit sentient beings. Currently, attendees of the monthly Chod Puja have reached about 1,500. Performing the Chod, especially with so many attendees, consumes a tremendous amount of the practitioner’s energy. The karmic creditors and sentient beings present, along with the attendees, are innumerable. If a practitioner has not attained the compassion of Emptiness and great bodhicitta, they cannot perform the Chod. Moreover, the steadily increasing number of attendees signifies that the sentient beings who previously came to the Chod were all perfectly liberated by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Presently, it is very rare and precious in the world to have a practitioner who publicly performs the Chod for such a large number of people simultaneously. Since the consecration ceremony of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan in May of 2008, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has held the Chod Puja here every year to benefit countless sentient beings.

The Buddha Amitayus Ritual is not practiced in Exoteric Buddhism, but it is a special Dharma method in Tibetan Buddhism. The practice of this ritual not only can help participants avoid untimely death, but it will also replenish the vitality and blood that was depleted due to past evil deeds. However, the purpose is not to let them enjoy life, but for them to have enough time and physical strength to practice Buddhism. In the past, when His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presided over the Buddha Amitayus Ritual, many participants clearly felt the decrease or even elimination of their physical pain, which testified to the perfect completion of the Dharma performed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. On May 29, 2008, after accepting Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s reverent invitation to preside over the consecration ceremony of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang bestowed upon Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche a statue of Buddha Amitayus from the sacred land of Lapchi in Nepal to symbolize the arrival of Buddha Amitayus. The blessings from this puja will be incredible!
