On Oct 4, 2009, the His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the Abbot of Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, will conduct the fifth “Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness of Drikung Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism” in Taipei Arena to benefit sentient beings, with an expectation of around 14,000 attendees.

The His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is concerned with the welfare of the sentient beings and, with his great compassionate aspiration, vows to help liberate all the sentient beings from the ocean of reincarnation sufferings. Therefore, every year since 2005, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has personally conducted the auspicious Drikung Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism’s Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousnesses to propagate the orthodox Buddhism, to purify people’s minds, and to pray for all the citizens.

The His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche mercifully enlightened, ““Great Indiscriminate Puja” is the puja in which there is no sponsorship, and neither is the merits estimated by wealth nor social status. All the attending sentient beings of the puja in presence of the conditions will in equal receive the blessing, rescue, and protection from the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.” Hence, the precious representatives of making mandala offering to the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and the conducting guru, the H. E. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, as well as one thousand representatives for offering
butter lamps to the Buddhas, are selected by lot at the entrance to the puja venue on the day of the puja. None of them will be appointed in advance.

There will be no charge for the entrance tickets to the puja, the transference of consciousness, or lighting lamps this year as last four consecutive years. The funds in ten millions of NT dollars for the puja will be sponsored by the members of Glorious Jewel Buddhism Culture Exchange Association, R.O.C., and will not be raised in public. Every year upon the perfect completion of the great puja, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche always contributed his own and all the offerings of the attendees of the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousnesses of Drikung Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism to the Ministry of Interior for social welfare to help the disadvantaged and those in need, under the witness and the check of a lawyer, an accountant, a bank representative, and an officer from the Ministry of the Interior, by which the virtuous conditions could be initiated on behalf of the sentient beings. The total donation amount in past 4 years from 2005 till 2008 by the His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has exceeded NT$ 18 million.

Each year from 2005 to 2008, without media propaganda through any radio, TV, posters, newspapers, and magazines etc., believers from many countries all over the world as well as local people that attended the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja were invited by disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center through disciples’ oral propagation of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s merciful and compassionate aspiration. All seats were always occupied every year. The number of attendees for past 4 years has exceeded to 41000 in total. Many people made a special trip to Taiwan from Japan, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, France, India, New Zealand, the United States, the Great Britain, the Philippines, and Brazil. Moreover, there were also ordained practitioners from various schools including the Ngakpa, Geshes, Khenpos, lamas and nuns of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage, the Drukpa Kagyu Lineage, the Nyingma Lineage, the Geluk Lineage, as well as monks and nuns of Exoteric Buddhism to attend the puja on their initiative. Countless sentient beings have been liberated by the prefect completion of the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Pujas over the past years.
