Event Calendar of The His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche

June 30, 2011

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presided over an auspicious puja of Drikung Kagyu’s Chod at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, Taipei. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave the following auspicious dharma teaching. Today’s puja is a tantric practice which is one of the Eight Sadhana practices of Tibetan Buddhism; most people did not understand the meaning of Sadhana, the so-called “Sadhana” in the Buddhism, neither Rinpoche can fulfill your idea, nor Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can fulfill your desire. It is that one can liberate from reincarnation by this lifetime by practicing this dharma. Actually we do anything, including learning, all we know that there will be a power generated when we are keeping doing it. Normally when we are at school, we can know the accomplishment through the examination. It is just like that many people would like to have the Professional Certificate, including driving license. In the worldly perspective, you can have the qualification by passing the examination of the professional certificate; however it does not mean that you can fulfill the job or task absolutely. If you only learn the theory of Buddhism without the power of actual cultivation, you cannot implement the Buddhism into the daily life; it is just like that when you learn driving car, although you might have passed the test to have the driving license which is a certificate issued by government, but you may be uncertain to drive the car. You can recall the experience of driving car when it was your first time to drive the car on the road, you would be nervous when you were driving, originally you would like to move forward, on the contrary, your car moved backward. You would like to turn right, and your car might turn left. For what reason was that? Obviously you already had the driving license, but you still had the problems, it was because that you only learned the theory of driving a car. What is the purpose of learning Buddhism for us? What is the result of learning Buddhism? The learning and cultivation of Buddhism does not mean that sitting in meditation, reciting the name of Buddha, or attending repentance ceremonies. Learning Buddhism is to help sentient being to liberate from the reincarnation. It is so-called the accomplishment of Sadhana.

The same reason can be explained in Buddhism, The content of Exoteric Buddhism is exoteric and easy to know, but it does not mean that you can achieve it. You can learn how to recite the sutra and the ritual of repentance ceremonies from the Exoteric Buddhism. It is merely the theory of Buddhism, and it is the base of learning Buddhism. But if you only know the theory of Buddhism, it would be difficult to implement it; without realizing the theory of Buddhism, you cannot cultivate Buddhism as well. It is just like that one can know how to start a car, but he had no concept of driving car, he would be unable to drive the car well. You have the motive for learning Buddhism, just like the engine of car has been started, but if you would like to drive the car, you must have the guru who can help you to learn the theory of Buddhism and the way of cultivation. A guru who is an experienced practitioner can teach you how to implement it by Buddhism. It is just like that when you have the driving license; you must know how to do what will be dangerous or benefit when you are driving on the road. And you can be able to drive to the destination; furthermore, you can benefit others to take them what they want to go.

The Buddhism cannot be consider as other religion that their believers need to worship their greatest God, for example Yi Guan Dao worship Wuji Laomu, the Christian worship Jesus Christ. But finally the believers are under the Gods, you are unable to be another Wuji Laomu or Jesus Christ. Only Buddha dharma mentioned that sentient beings possess the nature of Buddha, as long as they possess the cause and condition, they can liberate from the death and birth. The so-called “the karmic connection people”is referring to ones who are able to listen to the teachings of Buddha and implement them into daily life. Moreover, the sutra has mentioned that sentient beings would like to be reborn in the Pure Land must possess the virtues and causes and conditions. How can we accumulate the virtues? We must observe Five Precepts and do Ten Meritorious Acts.

Learning Buddhism is neither referring to one who is staying at home to watch TV and listen to the Master’s speech for Buddha dharma, nor can he learn it by going to the internet to see the teaching of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche weekly. To learning Buddhism, the power of blessing is very important, only when you personally attend the venue of a puja to have the teaching of a virtuous guru, you can be able to gain the blessing. The so-called a virtuous guru is referring to a guru who possesses the merits. Why it is not referring to the morality? It is because that the morality will be changed by the different area, the race of people, time and history. The merits are accumulated by the cultivation. A virtuous guru who is an experienced practitioner can know how to help sentient being. Those people who are afraid of being scolded or punished are no need to learn Buddhism anymore; it is because that they are not willing to correct themselves, those people who would like to correct themselves are not afraid of being scolded. It is the most difficult task to change one’s own self, if there was no the guidance of guru, you would be easily to have deviation behavior. It is just like that when you already have the experience of driving a car for several months, but if you had a break for a long period of time, you would forget how to drive the car. Cultivating Buddhism is to implement in the daily life without ceasing. There are Khenpo teach the Buddha dharma to introduce the correct concept of Buddha dharma to sentient beings. Buddha Sakyamuni imparted Buddhist teachings for 49 years, he taught the Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana, i.e. the Lesser, Greater, and Vajra Vehicles according to the sentient beings with the different of causes and conditions, karmic power and the different area as well. It would be the Nine Vehicles if Buddhism would be subdivided further, but it is not the scope for today’s topic.

Your attending the puja held today is not in order to have your luck take a turn for the better or improve your illness condition, nor to make your husband obedient to you. No more believe what the fortune teller says or what written in the book about that putting some object in some where could change one’s fortune. These are in fact useless. Those who want to have a change of luck, improve their life or disease conditions doe not need to cultivate Buddhism. As long as they donate most of their income to help others, they would naturally turn better. However, many people do not do it. It is simply to change one’s luck, but it is very uneasy to change one’s fate. What occurs to you in your current life is all the result of what you have done in your past lives. And what you do in your current life will impact your future lives. Buddhist cultivation is to make your future lives better. If you hope the karmic retribution caused by what you have done in the past would not, through your Buddhist cultivation, manifest in your current life, in this kind of theory, the virtuous causes of your Buddhist cultivation would not have the karmic effect in your future. When you develop your mind and practice Buddhist teachings for your future lives, many problems you meet in current life will also be readily solve. As what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has ever enlightened: when you achieve accomplishments in your supramundane affairs, you will not have any problems with your mundane affairs. On the contrary, if one does not seize the chance to truly practice Buddhism in this life, one’s fate will not change.

It is the conditions of your accumulated lives for you to attend the Chod dharma puja held today. You have learned and practiced Buddhism, and therefore you could have the opportunity to do the same thing in this life. The things occur to you in this life are just because you have done them in your previous lives. Thereafter you could have the chance to continue to do them in current life. As you have the chance to attend pujas, you should cherish the virtue and continue the conditions.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has helped a lot of sentient beings. When they come before Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche sees the beings’ killing karma is very heavy and the beings eat meat and do evil. Many people may find the excuse by saying they don’t know, they did not learn Buddhism so they did the killing. In fact, those who say this show no repentant mind at all. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was not born in a Buddhist family. As you may know, Hong Kong people love seafood most and they eat fish in their every meal. Even so, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche recalled that from his childhood to growing up, he did not have any chance to kill. Nor has he taken the knife to carve meat. In his childhood, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s grandmother instructed Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s mother that do not let Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enter the kitchen. His grandmother said: “How could a boy enter the kitchen?!” Besides, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s first job was a trainee in the kitchen of the biggest hotel of Hong Kong. This job took three months. During that period in the kitchen, how couldn’t Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche carve any fish or meat? But it is very strange that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was merely in charge of making milk foam and toasting bread. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just made butter balls there and never took the knife to carve meat. The other two trainees who entered the hotel with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at the same time had already started to carve meat. This is just because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s killing karma of previous lives has already purified and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had ever vowed to not kill. Thereafter, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s grandmother was also his Bodhisattva. As for modern men, they even cook and invite their girl friends to eat at home, taking it the method to chase girls. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, till now, merely knows how to cook rice and does not prepare meals. Some men would like to be romantic, strolling by the beach with his girlfriend hand in hand. And they may dig shells there and send the shells to their girlfriend, saying they are very beautiful. In so doing, they just kill the beings. Before, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was not that romantic.

Although you keep on saying that you believe in the law of cause and effect. But in fact, you don’t really believe in the law, as you regard it does not matter to have a bite of meat or do some small evil. You always consider it is not a big deal to do some small evil, as you think after that you just need to make an apology to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and pray for blessing. In fact, however, it has nothing to do with Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It is you who have to take the karmic retribution. If it were useful to beseech for deities’ blessing, the public figure who believes in Mazu would not have been in jail for years. Why he is still in jail is that the karmic retribution cannot change.

In previous days, there was a follower’s grandmother coming to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for her disease. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told them that their grandmother’s condition to live has almost run out. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche suggested that all of their family members should pray Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. However, the follower’s father did not believe what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said. He still sent the grandmother to hospital to undergo the surgical operation. The grandmother took the hardship to receive many medical treatments but finally doctor announced that they did not have any further idea. Doctor told them to take the grandmother home. You all believe the people with license and don’t believe the people without license. This just shows that you don’t believe in the law of cause and effect. While those with license speaks on the basis of their license, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s point of view is from the law of cause and effect.

Many people would say they don’t know in which realm they will be born after they die. In fact, it does not need to wait after one’s death. It could just be seen in five years prior to one’s death that in which realm one may be born. As you may all see your late relatives and friends, prior to their death, suffer from emergency treatment, surgical operation, being intubated, and so forth. Does it necessarily for everyone to suffer these pains prior to death? No, it does not. You can see that in ancient time the ordained people, as long as they well observed precepts, would certainly not fall into the three evil paths even they had not obtained the liberation from the cyclic existence. Besides, very few of them would acquire cancer. You may think it is because the ordained people lived a more peaceful and quiet life. As for the current ordained people, their life is very complicated and many of them have cancer before they die.

The term “co-practitioners” now is popularly used for people to introduce their spouses. In fact, they should just introduce their spouses with “husband,” or “wife.” “Co-practitioners,” rather than used for that, refers to those who take refuge under same guru and cultivate the Buddha’s teachings for liberation from the cycle of birth and death. It is unknown when and who starts to improperly use the noun in Taiwan.

The Buddha once said that a person who just began learning Buddhism should be taught to have firm faith in the law of cause and effect. As to a practitioner who has realized Emptiness, he or she should be taught that the law of cause and effect is also empty. Beginners in the study of Buddhism should deeply believe in the law of cause and effect so as to eliminate all the evildoings. However, practitioners that have realized Emptiness know the law of cause and effect clearly and thereby wouldn’t create any more karma. Hence, it would be a good time to tell him that even the law of cause and effect is empty. In so doing, the practitioner can further his practice by learning that everything in the world is an interdependent origination and Emptiness.

Imagine someone who doesn’t know you taking a look at your childhood photos and having difficulty identifying which one you were. Some people, while in a romantic relationship, would show their childhood photos to their partners. They usually find it hard to recognize the right one. It doesn’t mean that you have grown older but that your appearance has changed in accordance with your karmic connections and karma.

The Chod Puja to be conducted today was composed by Machig Labdron, a lay Tibetan yogini, who was married and had children. The Chod Puja includes Emptiness stated in the Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra, meditative concentration in Mahamudra, and the tantric Phowa practice. One who would like to learn and practice the Chod Puja has to have at least 10 years of practice in Exoteric Buddhism. Furthermore, one has to complete 1 million recitations of the Six Syllable Mantra as well. The 1 million recitations cannot be conducted while you are standing, in a car, or watching TV. If that is the case, the recitations do not count, for they have to be completed during a retreat. You would be kept in a room for 3 months without seeing anyone, talking, or taking showers and practice the tantric visualization in generation and completion stages taught by your guru. Thereby, through such practice means, your 1 million recitations would count. After you have completed the recitations, the guru will observe you to see if you measure up. Then, you will receive transmission of the uncommon four preliminaries: 100,000 full prostrations, 100,000 recitations of Hundred Syllable Mantra, 100,000 mandala offerings, and 100,000 practices of the Guru Puja. It should take about 3 years to complete these practices. Thereafter, if the guru reckons that you are qualified, you can then receive the empowerment of Buddha Amitabha. After that, you will learn and practice the Phowa. Once you have accomplished the Phowa, being able to perform the practice for yourself, and taken compassionate aspirations with a realization in Emptiness, the guru will then transmit the Chod Puja to you. In the Phowa, there are two practice methods, one that helps the practitioner himself and the other that help other people. There is probably only 1 in 10,000 people that can perform the Phowa for himself or herself, let alone for other people. It is even more difficult to find one. Now, you should know that it is hard to learn and practice the Chod. Moreover, it is even harder to see a practitioner who can perform the Chod Puja for so many people.

Apart from going through so many stages in practice, it takes one important Dharma instrument to perform the Chod Puja. It is made of a human tibia bone. Nevertheless, not every tibia bone will work. According to the Dharma texts, a tibia bone to be used as the Dharma instrument has to meet certain conditions and shape requirements. His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang once said that, in ancient Tibet, every Drikung Kagyu monasteries would definitely perform the Chod Puja on a daily basis. However, such a tradition is no longer followed. As the Dharma instrument of the Chod Puja is very rare, it is also rare to see practitioners who have the vows for practicing the Chod Puja.

The Chod Puja is particularly useful for those who have critical illness, committed suicide, or died in an accident. In fact, the idea of dying in an accident does not exist in Buddhism. Everything has got its cause and effect. The reason why one would die a sudden death lies in that he or she has accumulated a lot of evil karma. That is why he or she would suddenly die at a given time, which is an untimely death. Some people would say that it is pitiful for someone who was a hard-working student and an obedient child to die in a car accident. They would think that such a person would have made great contribution to the country and the society. Refrain from saying things like that. If you say so, you have no faith in the law of cause and effect.

When the practice began, the practitioner should take off the protective sacred objects such as Protection Chakras because the beings in the six realms will be scared about these items. The practitioner will then visualize his own blood, flesh, and bones as nectar being distributed to the visiting ghostly beings. You might ask if visualization really works. It works, indeed. Many children and elderly people in the Buddhist center have witnessed scenes in which sentient beings were fed with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s body. However, grown-ups are unable to see such scenes, for they have too many thoughts. Before they enter the Buddhist center, they would wonder if the puja would be useful for them. They might even wonder if they could be better off once their karmic creditors are liberated. They would have lots of thoughts. If we think that we will live a good life once our karmic creditors got liberated. If we attend the puja while having this attitude, the karmic creditors will be reluctant to leave. When we face the sentient beings that we harmed, we should help them with a mind of repentance. Because you started to learn Buddhism, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will serve as a mediator between you and your karmic creditors. If you can continue to attend pujas without interruption, your karmic creditors will then be liberated. Thereby, they will drop their hatred towards you and your problems can be solved.

At this time, someone’s cell phone rang. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said that the ringing had interrupted the puja. If we visit a very formal place, we will arrange our clothes before entering it and check if our cell phones are off. Do not say that you forgot or that you thought you had turned it off. You were careless. If you want to explain, it shows that you haven’t admitted that you made a mistake. Once you have made a mistake, you should admit it. If you think that the guru has wronged you, you won’t need to learn Buddhism any longer.

Many years ago, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had told a male believer that he would have trouble before the Dragon Boat Festival and should not go out drinking at night. So he was very careful until the evening of the Dragon Boat Festival. That evening, he was at home drinking. But, somehow, he was beaten by his girlfriend. There was another person who was the proprietor of a nightclub. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had known that it was very difficult for this kind of person full of greedy desires to practice Buddhism. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had seen that something would happen to him, so Rinpoche had asked him not to go out at night, otherwise, he might suffer severe damage. He was also very smart and flew to the United States particularly for running away from the mishap. This way, no one he had known would be able to take him out. As a result, one evening when he drank at a bar, he inexplicably had a conflict with some foreigners and was beaten by them. Because of this, he was hospitalized for several months. As it can be seen from the story, even if Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has supernatural power, has seen your mishap and told you about it, you will still not be able to escape from your karmic retribution.

You come here today to attend the Chod puja. Some people may think that they just come to attend a puja for liberation and only want to help to liberate their ancestors, relatives, and karmic creditors. At this point, some people may think, “Why hasn’t Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche begun to conduct the ritual? Why does Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche still speak about Buddha Dharma continuously?” Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightens attendees that liberation means to liberate the sentient beings in the Six Realms, including the Human Realm. It is too late to wait until you die to liberate you; you need to be liberated when you are still alive. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will liberate all sentient beings in the Six Realms. You are in the Human Realm and can listen to Buddha Dharma. So Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will use the language you can understand to teach Buddhism to you first and liberate you first from your erroneous views. “Liberation”can be divided into two parts. The first part (transcend) means going beyond the ocean of sufferings. And how about the second part (cross)? Helping others cross does not mean introducing friends to attend pujas, bring people to take refuge, being a vegetarian, and having recited Buddha’s name. Do not say again the kind of words that you have helped how many people to practice Buddhism. These words are lies. The second part (cross) means that in order to go to a certain place you need to know how to go there first; and after you have the ability to go by yourself, you can then help others to go there. If you still do not know how to escape from the cycle of birth and death, how do you help others? You need to first liberate yourself before you can liberate others. The motive of attending a puja is very important. Do not think only of your suffering relatives; you should give rise to Absolute Bodhicitta and generate Bodhicitta vow. Although you still cannot achieve these now, you only need to think that there are still many suffering sentient beings in trouble in the world and you hope that they can receive the help of Buddhism as well.

Do not think that you have practiced well and feel proud. Having this thought means that you have no cultivation. A proud person cannot cultivate compassion, and cannot practice Bodhicitta, open his or her own wisdom, and thus escape from the cycles of birth and death, and help sentient beings. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche began to practice Buddhism at the age of 36 and has practice Buddhism for twenty more years in order to change Rinpoche’s fate and his own karma! If Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had not taken refuge under His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and had not received the blessings and Buddhist teachings from His Holiness in these twenty more years, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche believes that he would not have had any achievement. As it can be seen from this, how can it be possible to fulfill your wish that you can attain achievement just by attending pujas a few times, reciting a few Buddhist scriptures, and practicing Buddhism for just one or two years? The “Lotus Sutra” has stated that if you worship a statue of Buddha, you have attained the Buddha’s path. This doe not mean that you have attained Buddhahood, but means that you have begun to walk on the path of becoming a Buddha.

To learn Buddhism is to correct our body, speech, and mind in order to benefit sentient beings. People are used to see others’ faults. We see others’ faults easily but can’t see our own faults. Everyday when we wake up and open our eyes, we are used to see the other people and the outer circumstances. We never look inside into ourselves. If there were no mirrors or water in the world, we would never have known what we look like.

We should vow to leave the cyclic existence and gain rebirth in the Pure Land. Cyclic existence does not just refer to the rebirth with another new life after the end of one life. Nor can it happen after death. When you are alive, you are already experiencing the cyclic existence. You cyclic emotion and you daily changes of body and mind are all in the cyclic existence. We are always in the cyclic existence everyday. Chod, meaning cut off in Tibetan, is to eliminate our afflictions of cyclic existence. By Buddhism, a man has 51 mental factors. Each of them manages different emotion subtlely. The Sutra stated people have 84,000 kinds of afflictions, or 84,000 emotions because of greed, hatred, ignorance, arrogance, and suspicion. You even have no idea your current emotion, not to say so many emotions. That’s why there are 84,000 dharma methods to be the antidotes to our emotions or afflictions. When you attend the puja one time, you could eliminate one affliction. Therefore, if you attend the puja for a long time, you will find your personality is changing. You are not angry no more with something you were used to be angry with. That’s because you long term attending puja helps you eliminate afflictions gradually. You are recovering from your nature in this way. Our attachment to anything is affliction, such as you like to eat sweet thing or you comb your hair to a particular side. They are afflictions. You calculate every penny of your money, feel what you earn is yours and is reluctant to make offerings. This is a\n affliction too.

Do not think you still have much time and will not learn Buddhism until you are free. Some people think they should work hard to save money for their children. What you gain this life is the result from what you had done in your previous life. Even if you have very rich, can you take the wealth with you after your death. Maybe you would think is it wrong to give the money to children? Sutra ever stated money is controlled by 5 thieves. One of them is children or grandsons. Maybe you would say you are willing to give them your money. In fact, children of wealthy families will not work hard. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche know this point very well because Rinpoche grew up from the poverty. It is also help your children making karma if you keep the money for them.

Before when Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche sought refuge under His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, Rinpoche was very rich. But now the believers that come to seek audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche are either ill or poor. They have all of kinds of problems. 9 of 10 disciples are the same that they have strong karma. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche never saw a man who smilingly came to meet Rinpoche and requested to learn Buddhism with joy. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said he is the one with heavy karma because all of his disciples are of this kind. That is so-called things of one kind come together. Maybe it is also because of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s vow. It is not like that the other masters could receive high rank officials or rich men. Therefore, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is very toilsome.

Then, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche began performing the Chod rituals. After the performing, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued the teachings. The Chod text stated that Chod could be used to liberate the ghosts that pass through here and the evils that obstruct us from liberation. Do not think evils look ugly or horrible. When Buddha Sakyamuni was attaining Buddhahood, the King of Evils ever dispatched a witch to tempt Buddha. That witch was very beautiful. It is not certain that evils would ask you to do bad things. They might ask you to do good things. But they do not want you to leave the samsara because they are in the samsara. We are strongly impacted by Taoism so we all think the ghosts should be killed, expelled, or blocked. In fact, ghosts will not visit virtuous doors. If you make many virtues, ghost will not come to you. They even would protect you. Unless you make many evils, ghost will come. Evils may do virtuous things too. Only those begins who have big merits could be the King of Evils. Some cultivators become arrogant but they have no ideas about this. At this moment, evils will go into their body through their mouth to your heart. As Shurangama Sutra said evils would fly in through mouths. All evils are made from the heart.

The Chod text stated that Chod is the marvelous dharma that could eliminate the devils and affliction. Chod is like the sun in the sky. When the black clouds clear, the sun will shine on all over with golden lights. Extensive and incomparable charity and offering arises to benefit sentient beings beyond the space and time. There are dharma charity, fearlessness charity and goods charity. What you could do at most is to do the goods charity with your money and energy. Only when you come to today’s puja that you could do the dharma charity.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would like to remind you the way how to make offerings of fruits and flowers to Buddhas. Do not pick the fruits that your children or husband want to eat for offerings to Buddhas. This is not offerings. If you just pick what you want to eat, buy them for yourselves directly. You should buy the best fruits that you can offer, not those you like. And do not place the fruits on mandala until they is getting rotten. When making offerings of flowers, do not place them on the mandala till they are dying. You should use the fresh flowers. Moreover, the flowers should be bought in the market, not picking them from the roadside. Everything in world has the owner. Even every blade of grass and every tree have their owner. Do not follow the story of love novels to pick a flower to woman as you wish. Even if you can’t offer the fresh flowers and fruits everyday, your heart of making offering is very important. In fact, the biggest offering is to act in accordance with the teachings.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche again reminded people who still eat meats: Since you have chances to attend such auspicious and rare Chod puja but still eat meats after the puja,  the dharma protectors would let you have no way to come again even if you could cheat once. Some people eat vegetarian food because they have to attend pujas. But they let their daughters eat meats and think that their daughters just have enough nutrients by eating meats. That is the wrong concept. Nowadays, meats are all added with Hormones. If you had ever watched the documentaries about livestock-raising industry, you would just know that the modern cow-raising businessmen punch a hole into the stomach of a cow to feed directly. In chicken-raising yards, the chickens are too crowded to move. If animals are raised as such style, what accumulated inside the meats are all the rare and strange toxics. Even these animals you ate do not have abilities to take revenge on you, their resentment and hatred are inside the meats. How could not the problem occur after eating those?

Why do modern girls have menstruation so early? Because they eat the meats with Hormones added. Women who have earlier menstruation would get old soon. You can see that the western women are looked older after 20 years old. That is because they eat too much meats. So you should not bring the children to western fastfood restaurants. If the children cry because they cannot eat, just let them cry. Otherwise, they would be harmed if allowing them to eat. Also, why do people say “stink mean”? That is because they eat too much meats, the stink smell naturally emits. However, everyone just does not believe but just like stink men. That is also the common karma.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately remind everyone that the summer vacation is coming. You should not bring the children to the river in the mountains to killing beings. You should not also bring them to barbecue meats. There is a disciple who studies in the senior high school now. Before he took refuge in elementary school, one day he had very severe and acute disease, which was incurable and would kill him within 2 weeks. When his mother came to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she did not say that she had brought him to barbecue meats. But while Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche bestowed blessings on him, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche saw his uncle brought him to barbecue meats at the riverside. There are many nagas and Dakinis in the mountains and rivers. The smell of barbecuing meats would make nagas and Dakinis sick. Whom would they take revenge on while they are sick? Of course it’s you. You should not deny and said that you had not had the diseases after barbecuing meats. You have no diseases now but when you are approaching death and run out of your virtues, they will find you. You should not think that the children did not barbecue but just be aside. We just took a piece of meat for him to eat. In fact, all of you are in the common karma. You should not think the children are so happy while barbecuing meats and playing as such. Can you still be happy while problems happen? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche came to Taiwan more than 30 years ago. He hardly heard that people had the cancer then. But he just did not know who promoted to barbecue in the mid-Autumn Festival. Many people have cancer now because they ate meats.

You should not think that everything would become better tomorrow after attending today’s puja. You also should not think that bad things would not happen. Some people may have something occurred after participating the puja. Some people may encounter the car accidents and get hurt after participating the puja. In fact, originally your leg would be broken. But because you attended the puja today, you only get minor hurt to let you have slight suffering for the heavy retribution. The fruit retribution cannot be changed, but since attending the puja, the taste of the fruit would be changed to be not so bitter.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then enlightened that today’s puja was perfectly conducted. The attended everyone simultaneously thanked His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche humbly said: it is needless to thank but you should thank yourselves. The puja existed because you participated. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just did what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche should do. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche humorously said that a Rinpoche who promotes Buddha dharma with “Canton Mandarin” in the world may not be found in the future. Why was the Chod puja held on this Tuesday, instead of Friday like before? Because there had been about 170 beings registered to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche on Saturday. If it goes with the continuous 3 days of Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the stamina would be consumed so much. But Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gets older and older.
