933: Reflections on Supporting the Temple

Praise be unto His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the Lineage Gurus, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and Dharma Protector Achi. Greetings, Dharma brothers and honorable believers. I am Lin Chunzhen of Group Two. Today I would like to express my gratitude to Rinpoche for granting us the precious opportunity to support the temple, as well as share with you an account of an auspicious occurrence that happened to a believer after doing so.

I once invited a school principal to give his support to the temple, and he did. One summer break, he and some parents of students and some colleagues took a school trip to Penghu. Because there were not enough people there to cater for them all, the principal gave assistance, even driving a golf cart to pick up and drop off all the esteemed guests who were headed over to the beach for vacation.

After the last guest left the golf cart this school principal had been driving, he suddenly lost control, and both driver and vehicle plunged down among the wave breaks below the seaside cliff. The cart landed in such a way that it was sticking straight up and down, with the front of the vehicle wedged into the hollow part in the middle of a wave break. Amazingly, the school principal only had some slight bruises and scratches on his legs and arms, and he was able to climb out from the entrapping wave break under his own power. Having watched all this happen, guests from the same tour group all exclaimed in astonishment.

This school principle was extremely grateful that he had had an opportunity to support Rinpoche’s temple, which was the whole reason he had been able to survive the crash in the first place. Also due to this incident, many people from the same school who witnessed and know about it have registered this year to participate in the Great Puja for Transferring Consciousness. The school principal continues to support the temple to this day.

I am so grateful to Rinpoche for bestowing opportunities upon people to support his temple! May His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Buddhist activities be spread far and wide, may he have good health, and may the construction of the temple come to a perfect and auspicious completion! Thank you all, Dharma brothers and honorable believers, for listening to my story!

Praise be unto His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Dharma Protector Achi, the Lineage Gurus, and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. I am Long Wenlan of Group Eight. My elder sister is Long Ruolan of Group Six and my mother is Long Xie Jiahui of Group Five. Today I would like to share with you an account of an auspicious occurrence from supporting the temple.
My mom is ninety-two years old this year. A few years ago, she began to develop symptoms of severe arrhythmia. When her heart gave her trouble, she had great difficulty breathing and walking. One Sunday morning, she telephoned to tell me that she was feeling extremely unwell. I rushed her to the hospital to ask Dharma Brother Doctor Xie to conduct some tests, and an X-ray showed that my mom’s heart had swelled to four times the size of an ordinary person’s. The astonishing part was that whereas most people’s hearts have enzyme levels of 135 or lower, hers had skyrocketed to more than seven thousand; this showed that the myocardial necrosis she was suffering had gotten very severe. I remember Dharma Brother Xie said that these were all phenomena to do with aging. In other words, her condition was irreversible and could not get any better.

Later, sensing that Rinpoche’s temple construction project really was in great need of a large amount of financial support, my mom decided to withdraw a NT$1 million certificate of deposit in addition to her monthly set amount and donate to the temple. She did this without hoping for anything in return; she neither implored for good health, nor a harmonious family life, nor the wellbeing of her children…. Strangely enough, immediately after she’d given this support to the temple, her arrhythmia unexpectedly and completely went away; she’d been cured without even taking any medicine.

I have an aunt who is eighty-eight years old this year, and her husband is ninety-three; they live in Beijing. My uncle had been suffering from heart disease and diabetes, and a few times he had gotten so severe that he had to be hospitalized. None of the doctors were optimistic. While in Beijing to attend an annual business meeting, my son visited them, and before he left, my cousin gave him a red envelope with a large amount of money. Upon returning to Taiwan, he and I had a talk about what to do with it, and decided to tell my cousin via WeChat about Rinpoche’s temple project and his compassionate acts of liberating sentient beings. We asked her if she would like us to donate that money for her to support the temple, and she happily agreed. We immediately did so.

Later, I further invited both my aunt and uncle to support the temple together, and asked my mom to call my aunt to tell her of all the auspicious things that had happened as a result of donations people had given. My aunt and uncle were both very happy to do it as well.

Afterward, my uncle’s health gradually improved, and my wheelchair-bound aunt’s spirits got better and better. In addition, a few years ago my cousin had surgery to remove a brain tumor, leading to blindness in one eye; even so, when I texted her stories of how Rinpoche had liberated beings, she read each one very conscientiously and was full of praise for the guru!

I am grateful to Rinpoche for bestowing us wisdom life to learn Buddhism, as well as to give us opportunities to support the temple.

Praise be unto His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Greetings, Dharma brothers and honorable believers. I am Chen Qingzhang of Group Seven. Today I would like to share with you an account of an auspicious occurrence from supporting the temple.

A few months ago, the mother of a friend was riding her bicycle home when she inadvertently fell into an irrigation ditch at the edge of a field. A large chunk of muscle was torn from her calf, and she could not climb back up the steep bank by herself. Later, unwilling to wait any longer, my friend’s older brother went out to search for her, and eventually found her in the irrigation ditch. With the help of two strong men, she was finally able to climb out. She was rushed to Chiayi Hospital’s Burn Unit Intensive Care Ward for treatment.

Due to the fact he once participated in the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness presided over by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, my friend came over to my house to ask if I had any nectar water or nectar pills. Knowing of his mother’s situation, I told him, “I’ll prepare for you some nectar water and a nectar pill bestowed by Rinpoche, but before you can take them to give to your mother, you’ll still have to spend time in traffic and wait until the Intensive Care Ward is open for visitors. There is a faster way of helping her.” I then told him of the auspicious merits supporting the temple, and reminded him that doing so would be the quickest way of accumulating good fortune.

After listening to me, he said he would support the temple in his mother’s name, and then immediately used the ATM downstairs to transfer over a donation. That evening, he excitedly told me that whereas originally things had not looked very good at all for his mother, and that there had been a chance she might have needed to have her leg amputated and that at one point she had even been in danger of getting septicemia and had very nearly died, her condition was now under control. He added that he would continue to support the temple into the future.

Rinpoche has a great many ways of helping people, and each of the Dharma brothers and honorable believers present has come here to learn Buddhism as a result. We are so lucky to have such a meritorious guru. Actually, I can’t call it luck, either, because the fact is, we all are in possession of various virtuous conditions Rinpoche granted us in the past. Whether we are in Rinpoche’s great ocean of merits as a result of being told to do something, telling others to do something, or putting the guru’s teachings into action, we owe it to him to be able to extend our wisdom life to cultivate in this lifetime.

I am grateful to Rinpoche for his blessings and bestowing auspicious opportunities upon us to support his temple! Thank you all, Dharma brothers and honorable believers, for listening to my story!

Praise be unto His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. I am grateful to the guru for bestowing me the opportunity to share with you an account of an auspicious occurrence from supporting the temple.
At the end of 2016, my mother-in-law discovered that she had small nodules in her lungs. After going to the hospital for further tests, she found out she had stage one lung adenocarcinoma. This news made both her and my father-in-law extremely anxious. My mother-in-law asked me whether she could seek an audience with Rinpoche, and I replied that she could register for one as long as she was willing to eat vegetarian for the rest of her life. During her first audience with the guru, she asked whether she should have an operation and which of three particular hospitals would be most suitable. Rinpoche merely said that whether or not she underwent surgery was a matter she should go home and discuss with her whole family, and that once they had decided, if she still needed help from the Dharma, she was welcome to come back and seek another audience. Over the next week, my mother-in-law seemed a lot more relaxed. She no longer felt so troubled, and Rinpoche’s having told her that she could seek further help if she wished had given her peace of mind.

I am extremely grateful for the blessings Rinpoche bestowed upon her during her second audience with him; they allowed her operation to go very smoothly and put all of our minds at ease. As a result of the causal condition that arose from her illness, she decided to go vegetarian for the rest of her life; another result was that she had been granted the opportunity to support the temple. Patients with lung adenocarcinoma can relapse, so the doctors would have to keep tabs on her for five years. It has already been two years now, and my mother-in-law’s test results have all come up normal. This year she and my father-in-law participated in the Grand Puja, too. Both of them sang high praise of Rinpoche for being in his seventies and still being able to sprinkle purification water on the whole crowd after performing the Puja for four hours straight. They knew how much energy that would take; most elderly people over the age of seventy would not be able to cope. They also could not stop praising the guru for his compassionate aspiration.

Last year, I learned that a friend had gotten breast cancer, so I invited her to participate in the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness. I invited her again this year, and she has given support to the temple. Earlier this year, after intensive chemotherapy, her condition still had not improved, and during the week before the Grand Puja, she took a fall and injured herself, twice. Luckily, this made her even more sure that she wanted to participate in the Grand Puja, so she did not cancel her plans.

On September 23rd of this year, the day of the Grand Puja, she left home early, because she was extremely eager to have the nectar water blessed by the guru sprinkled directly on her. However, she was not able to get close enough. After the puja was over, she followed the crowd out of the venue, and while doing so, she bumped into Rinpoche, and he even bestowed blessings on her head for quite some time. Later, when telling me about this, she said she had been moved to tears of gratitude; out of more than twenty thousand attendees, she had somehow been granted such great good fortune as this. She was thankful that the guru had been able to see at a glance her suffering and that of others. I shared with her some nectar water Rinpoche had bestowed, and this caused the rash that had broken out all over her skin as a result of her chemotherapy to dry up and no longer be as red or painful. None of the ointments her doctor had prescribed had done her any good. She was absolutely amazed, and even more full of gratitude toward the guru! Rinpoche not only takes care of his disciples, but even helps our friends and family members whenever they have the right opportunities and the results always turn out to be perfect. Thank you, Rinpoche, for your endless compassion!

Praise be unto His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, the Lineage Gurus, Dharma Protector Achi and the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. I am He Yuqun of Group Five. I am grateful to the guru for bestowing me the opportunity to praise his merits and to share with you an account of an auspicious occurrence from supporting the temple.
My classmate had been married to her husband for more than ten years, but had never been able to have kids. They had tried various methods such as artificial insemination to no avail; she simply could not get pregnant. In March of this year, though, their status upgraded to that of father and mother! Just yesterday they shared with me some photographs of their child and news of his recent developments. He is now more than seven months old, is teething and learning to stand up, and is chubby, healthy, and quite adorable.

It would stand to reason that the older one gets, the harder it is to fall pregnant, and my classmate is now forty years old. Year before last, when Rinpoche announced that he was building a temple and that believers were allowed to donate their support, I immediately invited my classmate to do so. She and her husband came to participate in last year’s Cherish Grains & Love Farmers Bikeathon. It was not until shortly before the event, when we were still waiting to hear which station the ride would set out from, that my classmate told me that she would not actually be able to participate, because she was pregnant! It flashed through my mind that they had given financial support to the temple project, so I immediately congratulated them and said that the timing of her pregnancy was certainly due to their having supported Rinpoche’s temple and registered for the bikeathon; this given them a sufficient, virtuous causal condition for it to happen. In March, this causal condition manifested in the form of a healthy, happy baby. Both of them were very grateful, too, and again donated their support to the temple. I will remind and encourage them to continue doing so!

Before having the child they had always wanted, my classmates had said that they had accepted their lot in life. However, as an eldest son and an eldest daughter, they had both still felt pressure to carry on the family line, and had felt very sad at not being able to get what they wanted. Rinpoche once said that the reason gurus, the Buddhas, and the Bodhisattvas help sentient beings to resolve their afflictions and problems is not to satisfy their desires, but to help them develop respect and faith toward Buddhism. I am grateful to His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for compassionately taking pity on all suffering sentient beings and granting us this opportunity to support the temple. I also thank all you honorable believers and Dharma brothers for listening so patiently.

Praise be unto His Eminence Vajra Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Greetings, Dharma brothers. Today I would like to share with you an account of an auspicious occurrence from supporting the temple.
I am a registered nurse who works at a hospital. One day a patient, Miss Guo, came to be treated for macular degeneration, and now she has been coming for years but it has never gone away. Two years ago I invited her to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, but she declined. Afterward, I further invited her to participate in the Grand Puja, but she said no to this, too, saying that she was too busy.

Later, I invited her to attend a lecture on the Dragon Sutra, and this time she signed up and attended. Afterward, when believers were given opportunity to support the temple, I rushed to tell her this good news, and she immediately donated her support.

Two weeks after that, when she returned to the hospital for a check-up, something amazing happened. She said to me, “Thank the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! When I was having my check-up today, the attending physician told me I was cured. He kept asking me what treatment I had undergone; he asked me three times. I told him that no, I had not undergone any treatment whatsoever; I had simply supplicated to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas for help and had faith in Rinpoche!” She told me that after that, the doctor had been speechless, and had just made the “OK” sign with his fingers.

Also due to having the opportunity to support the temple, Miss Guo finally participated in this year’s Grand Puja. She also said that she felt very grateful to Rinpoche for giving everyone opportunities to plant seeds of good fortune, and that she would keep on donating to the temple from then on. I am very grateful to Rinpoche for bestowing us the opportunities to support the temple.
