Event Calendar of The His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche

January 1, 2012

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche opened a set of the precious Lung Tripitaka by breaking the seal, put it on display on the mandala, and bestowed it with blessings through mantra chanting in the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto, Japan. The set of the Lung Tripitaka consists of 12 large cases and 108 books, each of which has been printed on heavy duty quality paper protected by thick hardcover. So each book is quite heavy.

At 1:30 p.m., the 30 disciples who had been selected by drawing lots during the dinner after the puja the day before have arrived at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche also arrived at the Center at 2:00 p.m. Immediately upon arrival, the guru instructed male disciples to set up the bookshelves, which had been custom-made for the Lung Tripitaka, behind the left and right Dharma thrones on the mandala. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche personally opened the cases containing the Lung Tripitaka one by one, took out the well-packaged Buddhist sutras one by one and broke each of their seals. The guru then appointed four male disciples who had never been married before to arrange in turn the precious Buddhist sutras for display on the bookshelves. The whole process ranging from opening the cases, taking out the individual books, and breaking the seal was rather energy consuming. Tirelessly, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche spent more than 30 minutes in completing all of it. During the process, he was wearing a stately look with great concentration, while the disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center present in the venue were chanting the Great Six-Syllable Mantra as the guru had directed them. When all the books were in place, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche performed a purification ritual for the Lung Tripitaka, revealing how much importance the guru attached to the set of this Buddhist sutra as a treasured collection in the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center. Then, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ascended to the Dharma throne, and bestowed upon the disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center with brief but auspicious teachings:

The Lung Tripitaka that was presented onto the mandala by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche today is a photocopy of the Lung Tripitaka that has been passed down to the present day from its original publishing during the reign of Emperor Kangxi. The so many books that you see are actually already a condensed version. The original version consisted more books. You are here today, not to plant the field of blessedness, but rather to learn that this had been a very difficult task to complete. You may think that it only took photocopying and there was nothing to it. But there had been many issues involved with the process. The presentation of the Lung Tripitaka to the world was a result driven by the aspiration on the part of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, who first saw this set of the Lung Tripitaka in 2002 during his visit to Taiwan. In 2005, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang came to Taiwan again and had the opportunity to see the Lung Tripitaka once again in the National Palace Museum with the arrangement of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

This original set of the Lung Tripitaka is extremely precious, in that it is the only copy in the whole world, and has never been on display to the public. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was able to arrange for His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to go to the National Palace Museum to see it, all museum staff, from the then curator of the museum down, were present to accompany His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. They took the Lung Tripitaka out from the vault with great caution and presented on display for His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, who was very pleased upon completion of appreciation and appraisal of the Lung Tripitaka and instructed Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take a photo of each and every page of the Buddhist sutra with a digital camera as he was walking out of the exhibit room, for the purpose of keeping a photocopy for His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche took to the task and made relevant arrangement according to the instruction of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, he found that it turned out to be an extremely difficult project, to the point that it was almost impossible to complete that way. Nevertheless Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was still diligently working at it.

Then, as His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang was meeting with one of Taiwan’s top leaders, the latter asked Chetsang Rinpoche  if there was anything the he could do to help, Chetsang Rinpoche expressed the wish to see a photocopy of the Lung Tripitaka reprinted. The top leader then asked the then Associate Curator Mr. Lin of the National Palace Museum to provide assistance in this project. At that time, Mr. Lin indeed provided much help with the project, having aroused a good aspiration for the cause, and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche returned his favor by helping him with a lot of matters also, and even predicted that Mr. Lin would be promoted to the full curatorship in three months and would have smooth operation as the curator. Later all the prediction came true for Mr. Lin, and nothing of any controversy had happened even after his retirement.

The presentation of the Lung Tripitaka to the world in the form of photocopy reprinting was something incredible, signifying that Buddhism would prosper in the world for an extended period of time. The project stated as Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s effort to fulfill the vow of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, so Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not make it known to the disciples that he was spending a huge amount of money and effort on it. Now, as some people were already aware of the fact that the successful reprinting of the Lung Tripitaka was only made possible with the effort of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the guru then made it known to all about the affinity associated with it.

As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was speaking, a female disciple in charge of video recording was using a video camera to record the guru’s presentation. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche directed her to stop making the video as the guru hoped that she could focus on what was in the presentation.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued with the story of the Lung Tripitaka. At that time, the National Palace Museum was in short of funding and was unable to carry on with the enormously difficult project. It was His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang who raised 20 million NT dollars with donors in Germany that allowed the project to reprint the Lung Tripitaka to move along smoothly. The process proved to be time- and energy-consuming, as each and every sheet of the Lung Tripitaka is very precious and has a history of over three hundred year. It took two entire years to just photocopy each page. The replicated version was only completed in four years beginning from 2006 till last year (2010). And the National Palace Museum presented a few photocopies of the Lung Tripitaka to Most Venerable His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, who presented some of them in turn to the contributors in Germany. Now the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Centers both in Taipei and Kyoto which are presided over by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche have their own complete set of the photocopy version of the Lung Tripitaka. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche also presented a complete set of the photocopy version of the Lung Tripitaka to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chungtsang, who was extremely pleased to have it.

The late grand practitioner of the Drikung Kagyu Order, Yunga Rinpoche once said, after Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche passes on, the Buddhist Center in Japan would continue to exist. But Yunga Rinpoche did not mention anything about the Buddhist Center in Taiwan. Though currently the number of Japanese disciples who took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is not big, we can see from today’s event that the Buddhist Center in Japan will be in a state of continuous development. Today is the date which was personally selected by Most Venerable His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chungtsang to open the seal of the Lung Tripitaka. And it so happened that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is in Japan, and had the causal condition to open the case and take out the Lung Tripitaka from the boxes in person at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto. The same opening procedure is being carried out at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taipei, Taiwan. But it is being done by the disciples there instead of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

Taiwan does not have a good affinity. This can be seen from the disciples of Taiwan who came to attend the puja at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto. After the auspicious puja of the Chod and Amitayus, which was presided over by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto yesterday, the disciples who remained to help with the cleaning of the site actually left open the main entrance of the Buddhist Center while each of them focused on his own so-called cleaning. If you are cleaning your own house, would you leave the door open? There were some other disciples talking loudly at the entrance, thinking that they could do anything they pleased after Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s puja was over and the guru was gone. The heating system was on in the Buddhist Center, and with the door wide open and cold air from the outside rushing in, the machine had to work harder. Who pays the bill with such costly power consumption? It’s Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche! Nobody took any notice of this issue, at least someone could simply go and ask. The disciples had no respect for the guru!

These disciples are all just putting up a show; in fact they aren’t even qualified to be disciples, though they think that they are learning Buddhism. What they are doing is not worth 1 10,000th comparing with the way Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche serves His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. Take another example, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche instructed them last night that the disciples should arrive at the Buddhist Center this afternoon at 1:30. But a group of them arrived early thinking that by doing so they were showing due respect, for fear that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would reprimand them. But they never thought about the fact that as they arrived early, the heating system also had to be turned on early. And so did the lights. Who pays for the extra electricity? It’s Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche! If Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche wants you to come early, he would tell you so. If you cannot follow simple instructions, how would you learn Buddhism? And how would you learn to be compassionate?

Whatever the Three Grace Root Guru His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang desires, as his disciple Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would try his best to fulfill the guru’s vow. None of you will do that! The best example of this is what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did in order to fulfill the vow of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang in having the Lung Tripitaka reprinted. As matter of fact it was an extremely difficult task, which involved a lot of complex political factors and required a huge amount of money and social connections. At the time Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had neither the money nor the necessary social connections. In spite of that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, with a determination to fulfill the vow of the guru, never backed away from it. If it had been you, you would have replied to the guru, “There is no way I can do that!” Don’t assume that all the arrangement had been easy to make, and could be accomplished simply by moving your lips. No one knows how much money and effort that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had devoted to this in order to complete it. If someone was trying to prevent Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche from fulfilling the vow of his guru, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would take any necessary actions. By the same token, if any of you try to prevent Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche from promoting the cause of the Drikung Kagyu Order, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will also take necessary measures!

The disciples who left the door of the Buddhist Center wide open after the puja yesterday, regardless that the internal heating system was still on, thought that they had the merits from attending the puja, and they had finished using the Buddhist Center, feeling better after the puja, and feeling they could do whatever they pleased. They were treating the guru like a fool. At that time at least over 20 disciples were coming in and going out, yet none of them opened his mouth to take care of this. Everyone was only busy with his own cleaning job. People as selfish as these will not be able to learn to be compassionate. It looks like that the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Kyoto belongs to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. But in fact it belongs to each and every one of you. These disciples are all in their middle ages, who have had a lot of social experiences. Their hearts are nevertheless cold. It shouldn’t be like this.

Finally, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche reminded the attending disciples today that the guru did not ask them to come and participate in the opening of the Lung Tripitaka to accumulate blessed reward; rather, it was intended for them to see that the reprinting of the Lung Tripitaka was not as easy as they might have imagined.

Then, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche instructed the ordained disciples to lead other disciples in chanting the Great Six-Syllable Mantra for 15 minutes, as well as performing the ritual of the Dharma protectors. At the same time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued to give blessings while chanting mantra. Upon completion of the Dharma performance, the disciples gazed in salute to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche as the guru was descending from the Dharma throne, and kneeled to the guru while making their repentance.  The disciples broke down in tears, extremely ashamed of themselves for not only disrespecting their Guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche with their acts during this trip and disobeying the teachings and instructions of the guru, but also for causing the guru to worry, and for being unworthy of the efforts and merits of the guru. The disciples repented from the bottom of their heart, and thanked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for the harsh reprimand which served as a wake-up call for all of them.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche returned to the place he stayed. In spite of the many errors that the disciples had made, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche still directed that some refreshments be distributed among the attendees today. As the disciples were receiving the food bestowed by their guru, they felt in the depth of their heart Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s meticulous care for them, and were all very grateful for the opportunity that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave them in letting them participate in the grand opening event of the Lung Tripitaka, as well as in tirelessly bestowing them with auspicious Buddhist teaching and blessing.

January 1, 2012

Two ordained practitioners led the other disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in reciting the Lotus Sutra at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taipei.

Before the puja, a female disciple thanked His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the Buddhas and the Bodhisattvas, for helping her family.

It has been five years since she took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche on November 12, 2006. On November 29, 2011, as she was crossing on the zebra after work, she had a sudden blackout, followed by a complete whiteout, and could not see anything, while she was hearing the voice of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche chanting the heart mantra of Dharma Protector Achi. Just before she could find out what was going on, she felt her body being hit three times – bang, bang, bang. As she was able to see again, she found herself lying on the ground after the impact sent her flying out. Only then did she come to realize that she was involved in an accident. And she was saying, “Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, help me!” Soon the police and the ambulance had arrived on the scene. At that time she was feeling pain in the hand, the leg, and the right hip. The ambulance sent to a hospital, where through the X-ray the doctor told her that there was no bone fractures except a few scratches and bruises. She was very thankful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and the Dharma Protector for the help that allowed her to reduce the effect of heavy karmic retribution. It was Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche who saved her life.

Her children helped her apply the precious Bao Yuan Gao, an ointment for external use which was concocted by physicians of the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic, and said, smilingly, “Congratulations, mom, on your repayment that you just made!” The next day, she went to the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic, and the physician confirmed with her after a careful check-up that there was only some bone dislocation, which should be taken care of by taking Chinese herbal medicine both orally and externally, as well as some adjustment of the dislocated parts. She was very grateful to the guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for not only teaching the disciples with the Buddha Dharma to save their spiritual lives, but also establishing the Chinese Medicine Clinic to save their corporal bodies, so that the disciples could have the physical strength to carry on their Buddhist practice. She was also thankful to the car accident for making her realize how impermanent human lives could be. Life and death are but a few second apart from each other. And she repented that she had not been learning Buddhism earnestly enough.

Though after the accident, it dawned on her that the karmic retribution was presenting itself to her and that she should have accepted it with pleasure, honestly there was no such consciousness on her part that she should be happy as a result of such repayment. She was still much attached to her body, with all thoughts focused on “How painful I am!” Even when the lady who hit her in the accident kept trying to apologize to her, she showed coldness and told her that everything would go through a legal procedure, and stopped taking phone calls of the lady. Her husband saw her through, and tried to persuade her, “That’s just a lady who’s scared to death after hitting you. You don’t return her calls. That would make her really worried, scared that you’d do something against her!”

At this, a thought jumped out of her mind, “I’m in such pain. It doesn’t matter she is made to feel scared a little bit.” But immediately there came another voice from her heart that said, “Oh, I’m finished! I’m really sorry to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for all his teachings. I’m a truly evil disciple.” The Thirty-Seven Practices of Bodhisattvas says, “You should not hold a heart of resentment against all sentient beings.” She had this resentment against the person who hit her instead of believing in the cause and effect. If she had no evil cause in the form of killing before, why would she suffer from this kind of karmic retribution? The guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche once said, “There is no such a word as ‘accident’ but only ’cause and effect.'” When she came around to realize this, she immediately called the lady back politely, as there was no more resentment against the lady in her heart. The lady expressed her willingness to take her to see the physician at the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic. Thus, she had created an additional opportunity where she’d be able to praise the guru with the lady.

As promised, the lady came to give her a ride to the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic. On the way, the lady was praising her children for being so close to her, and even helped her apply the medicine. Then she replied, her children were all well behaved since all her family had been learning Buddhism under His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She continued to say that the lady was lucky to have hit her because she had the protection of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Had someone else been hit, the lady wouldn’t have been so lucky. She also shared with the lady the story about her father-in-law being saved and helped by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in 2006.

It turned out that the lady’s husband suffered from a stroke three years ago. Currently his right half is paralyzed, with his IQ reduced to that of a 10 year old child. Then the female disciple shared with her another story about one of her Dharma brothers at the Buddhist Center who had cerebral hemorrhage, who, after receiving help from His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, was able to walk into the Buddhist Center himself in just three short weeks. The female disciple also invited her to attend the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness, hoping that her whole family would receive help of Buddha Dharma.

In addition, she shared the experience that the guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche helped save her son. Her young son was having a fever at the beginning of October last year (2011), with small blisters appearing around his mouth. They sent him to the pediatrician from Thursday on, but the fever would not subside. On Saturday, the boy was taken to an otolaryngologist, but the condition was only getting worse. After the Sunday puja she asked two of the Dharma brothers who were also doctors to check it, they both thought that it was quite bad and suggested an emergency visit in a large hospital. If the eyes were also infected with herpes zoster, further treatment would be required.

So she took her son to be checked in a hospital after the puja, and it was confirmed that he had herpes zoster infection spread onto the eyes. The boy was immediately hospitalized. Normally, when a patient has herpes zoster, he also would suffer from nerve pain. But her boy didn’t feel any nerve pain at all. During his stay in the hospital, the boy was reading Happiness and Suffering, and as he turned to the first page and saw the Dharma photo of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, all his bodily hair was standing on its end and he broke into tears. At the beginning he was unable to swallow anything solid at all, with the throat in a condition as if he was swallowing needles, and burning like fire. The surface of his tongue was all festered, leaving him unable to talk. He was profoundly going through what sentient beings would suffer in the Realms of the Hungry Ghosts and Hell. When Sunday came again and he was attending the puja, severe pain suddenly occurred with the infected eyes, and a liquid of yellowish green color was flowing down from them. After that, the eyes had no more secretions to shed, nor did they have any more feeling of discomfort. The boy was discharged from the hospital one week later, and continued to be well taken care of at the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic. The wound left by herpes zoster would have the depth equivalent to that left by a second degree burn. But with the help of Bao Yuan Gao Ointment, the wound was healing quite well.

She then thanked the guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for saving her father-in-law. In the winter of 2005, her father-in-law, who had always been in a great health condition, suddenly was experiencing symptoms such as persistent high fever and abnormal blood glucose levels. Two emergency operations in the hospital did not seem to help alleviate the condition at all. And the ensuing bacterial infection unfortunately even caused him to become paralyzed below the neck. A few weeks after the operations, the family agreed to the hospital’s proposal of a tracheotomy. Due to their ignorance, the old man had to rely on a respirator. A few months later, he was transferred to a respiratory care center to be taken care of and to receive active breathing training.  Eventually he had to be transferred to a smaller hospital for long-term care.

In the middle of August, 2006, with the introduction of a co-worker of her husband’s elder sister, they learned about a great practitioner who has great capability and compassion to help all sentient beings. So her husband and his elder sister came to seek an audience with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. But both of them showed a lack of faith, and they were reprimanded severely by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, who required them to go back home and have a family meeting. A week after that they were seeking an audience with the guru again, this time Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave blessing to her father-in-law with great compassion through mantra chanting, and even promised to go to the hospital to give his blessings in person, while asking her husband and his elder sister to attend the puja on behalf of her father-in-law.

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche came to the hospital to bestow blessings onto her father-in-law a few weeks later. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said: the reason why her father-in-law got such illnesses was that he had harmed many sentient beings in his past and current lives. He had killed chickens, and that was why he was getting the karmic retribution in the form of a tracheotomy. Her father-in-law was able to receive help from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche because in the hardest times of his own he was still helping others expecting nothing in return. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche even told them that her father-in-law was still quite attached to his deceased mother, and the guru wanted her husband and his elder sister to tell her father-in-law to relinquish the attachment and let Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche take care of everything for him.

After Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings, her father-in-law’s conditions had been improving gradually, with new flesh growing out where the festering bedsores were on the hips, and her father-in-law calmed down. A few weeks before he passed away, her father-in-law said that someone would come and take him away soon but he felt quite calm and peaceful instead of being afraid of that. Her father-in-law expressed gratitude to all the medical staff, and wished these younger people happiness. He also repented to her mother-in-law for not taking good care of her and letting her suffer so much.

Just a few days before he died, her father-in-law asked her husband to give him a haircut. On the eve before he passed away, he asked her husband to give him a good shave, and told him to go home early. At dawn of September 22, 2006, news came from the hospital that her father-in-law had passed away. At that, none of them grieved. And when they rushed to the hospital and saw her father-in-law, he seemed to be sleeping in peace, with a soft complexion on his face. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately promised to liberate her father-in-law. After cremation, her father-in-law’s skull showed a clear purplish pink halo. She and her family were very grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for the compassionate liberation so that her father-in-law would not fall into the Evil Realms and could be in a good place in his future lives.

She continued to thank the guru for saving her own parents as well. Due to the condition of her father-in-law, she, her children, and her mother-in-law came to ask together for permission to attend the puja and the auspicious Chod Puja. As soon as she kneeled down in front of the Dharma throne of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she couldn’t help but bursting into tears uncontrollable and told herself, “My mother will be saved!” Her mom was in very serious depression and tried to kill herself quite a few times.

When her mother came in the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, she kept crying and was unable to talk. As she was kneeling in front of where the guru was sitting, she told His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, “My mom does not want to live!” With compassion, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was persuading her mother, “You haven’t really suffered. Look at the gold and jade jewelry all over you, how can you say that you are suffering? Don’t complain anymore! This is what you have owed others and you have been repaying for your entire life. It wouldn’t be long before you complete your repayment!” The guru continued to tell her mother not to deny her own faults by putting all the blames onto other people. The guru compassionately agreed that her mother could attend the puja. In April 2007, her mother took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and had been gradually improving both her physical and psychological conditions since.

There was a big fight between her parents in March, 2008, in which her mother threw something heavy at her father and hurt him. Her father wanted her to bring her mother to Taipei. At that time, she thought it was wrong for her mother to hurt her father the way she did, thinking that she had reason to believe so, and told her mother, “You don’t have to come and learn Buddhism now –  learning Buddhism on the one hand while wounding someone on the other.” Her mother really went to return the Buddhist vest the next day. But after a while she regretted doing that and went to see His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. The guru knew that she was going against her mother and caused her mother to be sad, and criticized her sternly, “You thought your mother was wrong? As a child you don’t have the right to be involved with matters between your parents.” The guru punished her to change into the blue vest and three months later her mother took refuge again.

One of her Dharma brothers told her, “You mother has been suffering all week except a few short hours when she comes to the Buddhist Center where she can receive help from the Buddha Dharma and calm herself down. You should help her have more contact with Buddha Dharma and stay close to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.” She felt that she deserved death for being so arrogant and never got herself involved in the business of her parents again. The right way to treat your parents is to be thankful and learn Buddhism well in order to repay the debt of gratitude to your parents.

She continued to tell another story about her mother at the beginning of February 2009 who, as she was on her way home after the puja riding her motorcycle, got rear-ended by a car coming from the opposite lane after making a U-turn. Thanks to the protection and blessings of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, her mother only got some bone fractures. The guru said that her mother was lucky to receive only lessened effect of heavy karmic retribution instead of going to hell. And her mother, on the other hand, profoundly repented her faults, and wished that one way she would have the opportunity to make a public repentance.

In October of 2006, her father went to the hospital to see the doctor because of a cold and acute enlargement of the prostate. When the doctor suggested a surgery, as her father was found to have diabetes from the last blood test, it became very difficult for him to accept this fact. The blood test after he was transferred to another hospital revealed unexpectedly that her father had a condition of bacterial infection in the blood. The X-ray, only the other hand, confirmed that the cold had turned into pneumonia. He was required to be hospitalized immediately.

The next day, they sought an audience with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, who gave her father compassionate blessings through mantra chanting, and indicated that her father got a nameless poison from eating crab, and told him to stop eating seafood. This time there was no danger of life but there would be some sufferings. It turned out exactly as Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had predicted. Her father passed out quite a few times because he was injected with an overdose of insulin during hospitalization. In addition, the nurses had to try a few time every time they had to change his urinary catheter or draw his blood before the procedure was completed. Her father complained that he had never had this kind of painful experience of hospitalization. But she was all thankful for the guru’s blessings so that her father could have an opportunity to repay some of his debts.

After her father was discharged from the hospital, they went to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and expressed their deep gratitude to the guru for the blessings that was bestowed onto her father. The guru even gave him a vajra knot to hang around his neck for protection. Quite a few times just as her father was tripping, miraculously he did not fall to the ground. Even her father attributed all this to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, whose help always allowed him to save his day. Her father felt something was wrong, with either family members getting ill or their jobs encountering different types of troubles, so he went to seek Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s advice, who in turn compassionately encouraged her father to come and attend the puja. Attendance at the puja made her father realize profoundly that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had a heart of great compassion for the selfless liberation of all sentient beings. He was very touched and often told stories about the guru to his family members and friends.

Her father needed to have the artificial joints changed on his right knee in October 2009. She implored Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for blessings on behalf of her father once again before his operation. With compassion as always, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave him the blessings through mantra chanting. Her father did not suffer as badly this time as the last, and the wounds were healing quite rapidly, unlike what he had to go through the last time when he was having the hip joints changed, with his feet so swollen at that time that they couldn’t fit into the shoes. Even the doctors said that it was incredible. Those patients who had a surgery earlier than her father still required painkillers and blood transfusion, not to mention that her father was an 80-year-old patient with diabetes. All this is a result of the help and protection of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

She repented her heavy evil karma over the past lives. Born into this Age of Degenerate Dharma, she had the opportunity to come in contact with Buddhism only when she was 39 years old, as she was raised early on as a Catholic and did not have the opportunity to listen to the authentic Dharma. The entirety of her current life could be worthless if she did not have the causal condition to meet His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She also repented that as a young girl she was catching butterflies, dragonflies, cicadas, surrounding poor little fish and shrimp in the creek to scare them or keep them at home to starve them; and when the villagers were draining the pond to catch the fish, she also joined the collective karma of the massacre of sentient beings by catching mussels.

She continued to repent that since childhood she had always kept a dog as pet and had killed many fleas, lice, and even used wood to squash them until they were in a juicy state. As a result, in the 10 years between the age of 16 and 26, she had to be hospitalized many times due to gastric bleeding, which was believed to have something to do with the evil killing in her childhood. When she was young, her mother often took her to a place to eat snake, thinking that it might help improve her bad skin condition. So she repented that her deep evil root had brought harm to her offspring, with her two children having problem skin as well. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche commented that it was because someone’s ancestors had harmed the dragon, and she believed that one of them was hers.

She repented that she started cooking from the beginning of her first year of primary school, and had cut and cooked chicken, duck, pig, beef, frog, fish, shrimp, crab, turtledove, mussel, oyster, turtle, etc.; and she repented freezing live squids and shrimps to death by putting them into the freezer. The consequence of that was the karmic retribution in the form of rheumatoid arthritis that she had in recent years. She repented telling others to kill so that she could satisfy her appetite. She repented that she had been quite arrogant as a child, fond of coming to the aid of those suffering an injustice. She had beaten up boy classmates, and in order to protect her aunt she had slapped the face of someone of her father’s generation. She repented reading indecent books and not having the filial piety for her parents, leaving them to worry and feel sad. She repented being unable to prevent her mother from dropping out of the puja after registration, causing the karmic creditors of her mother to be unable to attend the puja. She repented being jealous of others, bad-mouthing them, and often reducing herself to the level associated with the five poisons of greed, resentment, ignorance, arrogance and doubt. She repented doing things half-heartedly, with good beginning but no completion, not making effort in doing prostration, or acting in accordance with the guru’s teachings, or surrendering completely to the guru. She repented having the mind of comparison and thinking that the Dharma picture of Protector Achi was not as beautiful as it should be, when she saw the Dharma tape brought back by her Dharma brothers who had traveled to a Buddhist temple in Qinghai that featured the stature of Protector Achi. She repented lacking blessed reward for being unable to make a quarter of her income as offerings.

She came to feel that she had done many evil deeds and was willing to repay all karmic consequences arising from the evil causes that she had made with her own karmic body, and prayed that she could depend on the guru for guidance life after life in learning Buddhism, and one day be liberated from the faults and torment of reincarnation, so that she could repay the debt of gratitude to the guru by bring benefits to sentient beings. At the same time, she also prayed that the guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche may have good health; she prayed that the guru Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche may have long life; she prayed that the guru’s Dharma activities spread far and wide; and she prayed that she may not be separated from the guru.

At 3:00 p.m. sharp, the disciples followed the directions of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to open the cases of the Lung Tripitaka and take all the books one by one and put them for display on the dedicated bookshelves. These Lung Tripitaka books had been so packaged in the venue of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taipei. After this was completed, the ordained practitioners led the disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in reciting the Lotus Sutra.
