His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Puja Teachings – July 24, 2013

In the morning, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave compassionate instructions that disciples who had not yet made a trip to Jangchubling Monastery in Dehra Dun could sign up to do so. The disciples were all extremely grateful to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for having bestowed upon them this virtuous causal condition and allowing them the opportunity to form an affinity with the auspicious overseas location of the Dharma seat of the Drikung Kagyu Order. Due to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s considerable good fortune and the numerous contributions the guru has given the Order, the monastery made a special gift of khata and Tibetan incense to the disciples. Only because they had taken refuge with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche were the disciples shown such magnificent hospitality, and for this they all felt deeply repentant and grateful.

During the midday meal, two female disciples entered the dining hall and passed right in front of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche before noticing that the guru was present, whereupon they each doubled back with their palms pressed together to pay the guru their respects. As disciples, they should always be mindful of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, especially given the fact that the guru tended to sit down to dine with the disciples at practically every meal. The guru always blessed every disciple who walked into the dining hall to eat; however, one of the disciples had neglected and ignored the guru, indicating that this disciple was not mindful of the guru. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche admonished this disciple on the spot by saying, “Just how hungry are you? So hungry you have forgotten your guru?” Afterward, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave instructions that this disciple would not be allowed to make offerings to the guru for two months.  Another disciple, after returning to the hotel from Jangchubling Monastery, made the same mistake upon entering the dining hall; he did not notice the guru. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche warned that if he made the same mistake again then in the future he could only be a believer.

After the midday meal was over, caring greatly about the disciples’ living accommodations at the hotel, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche took a special tour through the building in which they were staying. The guru first inspected the top floor, then the middle, then the first floor, and finally went to examine a wing that was quite removed from the rest of the hotel. Everywhere His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche went, the guru was constantly benefiting sentient beings, chanting mantras, and blessing the countless sentient beings in the void. Furthermore, at dinner the guru personally inspected the eating environment and the quality of the dishes out of concern for the disciples.

At any given time or place, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is always benefiting sentient beings. The guru’s dignified Dharma appearance naturally engendered respect among many employees of the hotel as well as the foreign guests who were staying there; one after another they spontaneously implored for His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings. The guru compassionately granted their wishes and went on to bestow precious Buddhist teachings. As long as the disciples have sufficient causal condition, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche spares no effort, often meticulously observing their words, actions, and demeanor, earnestly instructing them, stopping them from continuing to behave in ways that would cause them to fall into reincarnation, and helping them to eliminate any hindrances to their Buddhist practice. With body, speech, and mind, a grand practitioner can help sentient beings to reduce their afflictions and receive assistance from the Dharma. For this the disciples were all incomparably grateful.
