His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Puja Teachings – July 23, 2013

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is always benefiting sentient beings; the guru compassionately performed the Dharma and bestowed blessings upon a hotel with more than one hundred and twenty years of history. Due to having different religious beliefs, the hotel’s caretaker did not have faith in His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. However, when the guru performed the Dharma, deities of all sizes came one after another from hundreds of miles around to be liberated by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. There were even many sentient beings waiting in the tops of trees, for a practitioner had never before come to perform the Dharma in this place. While performing the ritual, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche pointed in a certain direction and asked, “Is there a Hindu temple in this direction?” Looking extremely surprised, the caretaker who had had no faith in the guru nodded that there was indeed. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said, “Shiva has brought sentient beings forward to receive help, and there is also a deity with two war-horses.” The caretaker saw Shiva leading many sentient beings forward to be liberated by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche; only then did the caretaker give rise to a respectful mind, for it was evident that the deities in whom the caretaker had faith were bringing sentient beings to receive Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s help.

The Dharma was performed in an open pavilion. While His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was performing the Dharma, black clouds suddenly moved in to cover what had originally been a clear blue sky. After the ritual was finished, however, the dark clouds immediately dispersed, leaving the sky crystal clear once again. The sound of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s voice continued uninterruptedly as the guru chanted the mantra. Next to the guru, all of the disciples felt warm all over, and sweat was rolling down their backs. The caretaker and the believers, however, felt very cold. The location in which the Dharma was performed was very gloomy, but the pavilion brightened within moments after His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s auspicious Dharma voice rang out. It was truly incredible. As the guru performed the Dharma, a faint scent of sandalwood incense filled the pavilion and lingered without dissipating for a very long time. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche possesses extraordinarily powerful abilities with which to perform the Dharma. The guru’s auspicious blessings would continue to help any local sentient beings who had virtuousness in their hearts.

His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued benefiting sentient beings without taking any breaks at all. The hotel was packed with sentient beings in need of liberation, and the guru bestowed help upon them according to their causes and conditions. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said that in one corner of the hotel was a sentient being who had met with a violent death, and that all of the hotel’s employees had seen her before. Only then did the caretaker admit that the staff at the hotel had indeed seen a ghost over the years. In order to liberate any local sentient beings who had died by violent means, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche decided that upon returning to Taiwan he would help out by holding an auspicious Chod Puja. Realizing from this experience how powerful the guru’s compassion really was, the Hindu caretaker gave rise to a profound respect toward, and faith in, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. As a result, on behalf of an elder brother, the caretaker implored the guru to name and bestow blessings upon the family’s newborn baby.

During the midday meal, a male disciple proceeded to the dining hall to eat. When he saw the other Dharma brothers up ahead with their palms together, he knew His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was already there; however, he walked right past the guru without putting his palms together. Upon seeing this male disciple ignore the guru in a complete lack of respect, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave instructions on the spot for his Glorious Jewel disciple’s vest to be taken from him. Many disciples are not mindful of the guru, and His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has extremely auspicious methods for handling all of these disciples, each according to his or her own particular problems. If one lacks a respectful attitude, then how can one cultivate compassion and benefit sentient beings? At any given moment His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is always observing and disciplining his disciples; the guru’s auspicious guidance is actually meant to help them leave the suffering of reincarnation!

This trip to India just happened to coincide with the monsoon season, and right in the middle of the day it began to bucket down. Some of the disciples had planned an outdoor excursion for that afternoon, so His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche instructed them to wait another fifteen minutes before heading out. No sooner had the time come specified by the guru than the rain suddenly stopped, allowing the disciples to head out for a smooth and worry-free excursion. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s extremely subtle blessings filled the disciples with the utmost gratitude, and they gave praise to the guru’s great, unimaginable powers, proficiency in everything between heaven and earth, and compassion which is omnipresent in the void!

Today a disciple got a leg cramp next to the hotel’s swimming pool. Many disciples tried to give assistance, but were helpless. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told them to drop him into the water. Not wanting to inconvenience the others, this disciple walked into the water himself, and as a result discovered that his cramp went away immediately. When the disciple thanked His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the guru sighed and said, “It’s a hard job being a Rinpoche! Even when the disciples are swimming, he still has to come to their rescue.” Both merry laughter and angry scolding are skilful and expedient Dharma methods by which a great practitioner benefits sentient beings.

After His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche arrived at the hotel, many peacocks came near the guru and spread their brightly-colored feathers. It was quite spectacular; even these animals could feel His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s all-embracing power. A believer wanted to feed the peacocks, but the peacocks simply ate the food that had been dropped on the ground and ignored her. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said that the peacocks had a natural instinct, and would not accept food from this believer because she still ate meat. In the courtyard, a peacock that had never allowed humans to feed it before approached His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and ate some bread that the guru had blessed, right from the guru’s hand, as it fanned out its tail and did a little dance. It lingered around the courtyard attached to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s room, and even emulated the guru’s posture by staring up at the sky. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was touched, and sighed: this peacock knew to feel grateful, which was something the disciples were not even capable of doing. Not only had His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche bestowed upon all the disciples the benevolence of saving their lives, but the guru had also given much care and many blessings upon their family members. Looking deeply inward to reflect upon themselves, the disciples repented.
