His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presided over an auspicious regular puja at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taipei, enlightened the satisfied Implementation of cultivating Buddhism. Before the puja, a female disciple shared her experiences which were helped by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

This disciple was grateful that she was very lucky to have the teaching of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she was no need to travel far knows much, as long as she regularly attends the puja on Sunday and the Chod puja once a month to listen to the teaching of Buddha dharma from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, as well as reading the book” Happiness and Suffering” wrote by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, any difficulties can find the solutions from them. Ten years ago, this disciple’s job was a nursing staff. She accompanied her employer to attend the Chod puja, during that time, she heard lots of stories from another disciples mentioned that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave lots of help for the patients have the cancer illness. She also served another employer who was an old woman had a colon cancer. She was suffering from the processing of excreting because some of his colons had been cut off. This disciple went to meet Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for her employer, but Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her that she needed to ask the employer’s family members to personally meet Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for her employer’s suffering; Meanwhile, Richen Dorjee Rinpoche suddenly asked her whether she had another problem? She was too stupefied to answer Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for a second, and suddenly she reminded of her stomach-ache. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche instructed her to stretch her palm and put his palm above several centimeters away from her palm. Several seconds later, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her, it was merely a benign tumor; she would recover after attending puja. At that time, she had been three large hospitals, those doctors all diagnosed that she had adenomyoma which was about 2 cm or 3 cm large needed to excise her womb by surgical operation. Her elder sister and friends had the suffering experience of surgical operation, Furthermore she was single mother who needed to work because her children were too young she was unable to have a long-term recreation if she would have a surgical operation. Therefore she was no intention to do it. Afterward she complied with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s suggestion to attend the puja.

She was unable to be the disciple of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, until Oct 21, 2001; she was joyful with her daughter to take refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. April 14, 2001, on that day, her daughter who was just only 16 years old gave birth to a boy. When the baby was one month old, this disciple took her daughter with her baby to attend the Chod puja. After the puja was finished, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was regardless his own tiredness, asked her daughter with her baby to move forward and bestowed the blessing to them. On August 14, her grandson was died of choke during sleep. During that time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche liberated her grandson as well. However this disciple was ignorant to believe the taboo, she was unable to attend the funeral ceremony for her grandson. It was regretful that she missed the opportunity to let her family members understand the extraordinary Buddha dharma performed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Afterward, she took her daughter to thank Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s help.  Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened her; her grandson was a Bodhisattva who came to remind them to learn Buddhism. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche also reminded her daughter to eat well, if she had any problem, she could ask Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche anytime. In 2002, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang came to Taiwan and presided over a large scale puja, after she had attended this puja, this disciple returned to hospital for reexamination, her illness had been recovered, even if she recovered from uterine prolapsed which had been suffered for many years long. She was very grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s help.

She also shared a few stories about how Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche helped some elderly who stayed at the nursing home she worked. An old woman aged nearly 90 years old and lived in the nursing home had a chance to make an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche before passing away. The old woman was given a nectar pill and bestowed with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessing. She obtained a rebirth in the Heaven Realm after she died. The disciple had played a video film about Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to another old woman aged 96 years old and asked her to remember how Rinpoche looked like in the film. Not very long later, the old woman’s daughter-in-law informed the disciple that she died while sitting on her chair, without suffering any pain. 83-year-old Mr. Yang had read a magazine with a special interview and photos of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, which was brought to him by the disciple. One day, when the disciple brought him dinner, he told her that he wanted to go to the pure land of Amitabha Buddha. The disciple replied that’s very nice. Three days after that interaction, Mr. Yang died because some mucus had blocked his breathing channel. Before Mr. Yang died, he once told the disciple that his daughter was even afraid to get close to him. The day he died the disciple kneeled in front of his bed and recited Mani for one hour. When staff of a funeral arrived, she found that his body was still supple. A 96-year-old grandpa Liao had stayed in a hospital for one and half months. Every time the disciple went to visit him, she found that there was no care-taker there. Three sons of his were living in the U.S. and the only son in Taiwan who was already 60 years old was mentally ill. The disciple once brought the book written by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche “Happiness and Suffering” to grandpa Liao and exalted the merits of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Several days before grandpa Liao died the disciple again brought the book to him. He finally inhaled his last breath and suffered no more. Families of many elderly people the disciple had taken care of had believes in different religions. The elderly people, however, had the cause and condition to obtain help of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. In the yearly grand puja of transferring consciousnesses, she had put these elderly people’s names on the list of transferring consciousnesses. She believed that they all had been transferred to and attained a rebirth in the pure land of Amitabha Buddha.

In March of this year, she underwent a breast examination. The results indicated she might have breast cancer of the fourth stage. In the past, she once was diagnosed with adenomyoma. After listening to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s teachings on Buddha Dharma, she can understand why she might have breast cancer. She had committed killing beings before. When she was young, she thought she was very flirtatious and beautiful. Since she didn’t know how to refuse boyfriends’ demands, she had sexual relationships with three or four boyfriends. As a student, she disliked to do homework. Since she took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she has not corrected this bad habit. She has not exactly followed what was taught to her about practicing Buddha Dharma. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has taught that it was an enormous construction to change one’s bad habits. As long as one has a thought about oneself, it is evil. Thus, we should always keep in mind Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s teachings of Buddha Dharma. Any problematic situations with regard to people, matters, and objects can be quickly solved with Buddha Dharma taught by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

The wealth of Buddha Dharma Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gives to his followers is inexhaustible in supply and always available for use. The companies Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche runs are of great help to her. The Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic where the best medicine is used, the doctors patiently and carefully feel the pulse and make a prescription. Therefore the lymphatic tumor in her left arm much decreased in size. The basic foot care of the beauty salon solved the follower’s foot skin problem of years. The Japanese food is safe to eat. The travel service company provides such good services such as in a Nepal pilgrimage tour, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche even hired local police-officers to protect the guests. She is thankful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for everything he does for followers.

The Vajra dance Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche held showed the section about two deer dance. It is like looking into the mirror. When we say others are wrong, in fact it just reflects our faults. We should not change others but us. People who are a doctor or a teacher must have consecrated attitude. In fact, people who do other jobs should also be consecrated. This follower can’t work now, but she is grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for donating the offertory of the annual great pujas to the Ministry of the Interior as she just benefits from it, such as the subsidy paid by the Social Welfare Department, the rent rebate offered by the Building Authority, and the subvention for those who earn less than NT$ 300,000 per year. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ever enlightened that a true Buddhist would not have no house to live in, no rice to eat, or no clothes to wear.

She has wasted time of many years, not diligently cultivating Buddhism. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche sacrifices his family life, seeking no fame and wealth, regardless of the pain of S-Shaped scoliosis, to help sentient beings to listen to orthodox dharma, obtain liberation, rebirth in the Pure Land, and attain the Buddhahood. The follower blamed herself that she was not like a human. Even an animal cares for its parents in return. She felt she was inferior to an animal. She received guru’s scolding. She implored His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to eternally turn the Dharma wheel and wished for guru, the Vajra holder, have good health and live long.

Then, another female follower shared how Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has helped her family members and her.

She first shared how Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche helped her remove the hindrance to her cultivating Buddhism. She started to attend Chod puja in July 2009 and took refuge under His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in last year, July 2010. It has been almost one year after she took refuge till now. Before she started to attend Chod puja, one day she came back to Taoyuan and told her mother that she was going to be a vegetarian. Before she spoke, she was very nervous as none of her family members has ever adopted vegetarian diets. She felt worried about her mother would not accept it. As expected, upon she told her mother, her mother got agitated and expressed dissent:” You can’t adopt vegetarian diets! After I die, you can do whatever you want. But when I’m still alive, you cannot be a vegetarian!” Strangely, seeing her mother getting agitated, her mind was still calm. She prayed in mind to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to help her, as it is a must to adopt vegetarian diets. In the meantime, she chatted with her mother at not too fast nor too slow speed, talking about everyday matters. Dramatically, before too long, her mother then said she would prepare vegetarian food for her next time. From being opposed to being willing to act in concert with her, it merely took ten minutes! This is all due to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s helping her to smoothly adopt vegetarian diets.

Last November, she implored the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take her under his refuge. The venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked if she had gotten her parents’ permission. She was stupefied as she had thought only those under age would need it. Since she was already in her thirties, would she need to get her parents’ permission? At that time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her that she had to respect her parents. If she failed to respect her own parents, she would fail to listen to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s instruction in the future as well. On her way home, she realized that she who had been doing well with her academic studies and career was self-opinionated, considering herself doing nothing wrong. As a result, she had a habit of deciding everything by herself before briefing her parents about her decision. She rarely shared with her parents about what she saw and heard, let alone respecting her parents. At this thought, tears streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably. Thereafter, she returned to Taoyuan to ask her parents if she could take refuge with the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Her parents had used to get along with everything she wanted and had never tried to change her mind. However, this time they both showed stern disapproval. Her father expressed his disapproval as a knowledgeable individual, telling her loads of reasons, including the ancient and modern histories, social news, and the previous Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs Committee. As for her mother, she showed her disapproval in a traditional manner. She simply said no. That was why the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche wanted her to ask for her parents’ permission first. It was actually because her parents disagreed with her decision. She was amazed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s great powers and felt ashamed that she, having attended several Chod pujas, had never shared with her parents about Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s teaching and achievements, nor did she ever mention what the Buddhist center was like. Undoubtedly her parents would feel worried about her and show objection to her seeking refuge. She felt very grateful for the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessing. Although her parents did not allow her to seek refuge, they agreed to let her attend the regular pujas on Sundays.

On January 30th last year, the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche held a refuge ceremony. Nevertheless, her parents had not agreed to let her take refuge. Therefore, when people went forward to seek refuge with joy and emotions, she could only sit quietly in the first row, feeling utterly down. At that time, she felt that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche took a glance at her. At that time, she wondered if she looked strange, sitting alone in the first row. In fact, it was auspicious blessing of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. When she returned to Taoyuan later that day, she asked her mother, in a somewhat joking manner, about how long she had to be observed and when she could seek refuge. To her surprise, her mother simply answered that she could go implore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche after the lunar new year to take her under his refuge. Additionally, her mother said that her father agreed as well. She was totally stunned and found it very difficult to believe! It had been 3 months ever since her parents expressed their disapproval. During this period of time, she did not change or do anything. Why did her parents change overnight? It was exactly the auspicious blessing of the venerable Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Before she even knew of what was going on, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had made arrangements in her best interest and helped getting rid of the obstacles in her Buddhist study.

Since then, whenever her mother saw the negative news of religious circles from the news media and nagged her with the news, as long as she told her mother, “When I implored Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for taking refuge, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just asked me to obtain yours and father’s permission first. Such Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would do anything bad?” her mother would become silent immediately since what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had done was so just, honorable, and reasonable. Her mother was not able to deny this point completely.

In the past year, her parents had sought an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and obtained Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings. Her elder brother had taken refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche last month; her elder sister-in-law and niece had obtained great help from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. As she thought about these now, she realized that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not just help her alone to practice Buddhism. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s seemingly simple words brought her whole family the opportunity to practice Buddhism. However, because she had not corrected herself and done things well, her parents were still not able to become vegetarians and had only sought an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche once. She was very grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings. Because of such blessings, her parents had been able to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at the end of last year. Many unexpected situations had happened that day. To her surprise, even her fairly healthy father suddenly had had urinary incontinence in the Glorious Jewel Chinese medicine clinic, causing troubles in there. She was very sorry for that. Had it not been for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassionate blessings, they would not have been able to arrive at the Buddhist Center at all that day. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened them that her father had had diabetes because of eating too much meat and her mother had had asthma because of killing chickens. Although her father had not had a vegetarian diet and her mother refused to admit that she had killed chickens in the past, they still obtained Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s excellent blessings. His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche even very compassionately received her father’s offering. She was very grateful to the guru!

Last December, the disciple’s mother was hospitalized for 5 days due to acute asthma. But after seeking an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and continuing nursing in the Glorious Jewel Traditional Herbal Clinic, the asthma has not been had up to now. The disciple was born while her father was old. Now the disciple’s father is an old man of almost 90 years old and has the medical history of diabetes about two years. But because of the blessings bestowed by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, as well as the helps from dharma brothers, her father are so fortunate to take the nectar pills. Her elder brother, who disagreed the Chinese medicine therapy initially, unexpectedly changed the attitude and agrees with their father to nurse in the  Glorious Jewel Traditional Herbal Clinic. At the same time, her father always remembers that on August, 14th he will participate the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness. He repeatedly checked with them about the traffic condition and related affairs. All of these are the blessings bestowed by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She deeply felt the guru’s grace is really difficult to be paid back.

Then, the disciple and the attended everyone shared that she very thanked His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for two things. On the June, 6th of the last year,  His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang came to Taiwan to held the great puja and the disciple also participated. When participants of the puja together recited the Mani Mantra, in the beginning her father just listened but not followed to recite. At that time the disciple thought that it is the very auspicious opportunity to participate the puja and then she said with courage to remind her father to recite together. She very thanked the blessings from His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and her father even recited the Mani Mantra along with the crowd. As the disciple heard her father’s voice of reciting, she was incomparably grateful and moved in her heart. Since from her childhood to adulthood, she had never heard her father reciting name of Buddha. If His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche were not holding such auspicious great puja, maybe her father would never see any great practitioners, hear the great practitioners to recite the Mani Mantra or even recite the Mani Mantra.

In addition, on June 6 last year’s grand puja, father noticed that when His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon chetsang was guided by jeweled parasol while walking, he was very surprised and said to her, His holiness had such an impressive presence? She was shocked at the moment, did not know how to respond, because she did not understand also could not have no response, afraid her father would misunderstand. Then she prayed in the heart asked His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to help her, then she said to father, that’s right, because His Holiness is very venerable! Unexpectedly, father nodded after listening to her, then put his palm together and continued bowed to His Holiness’s presence. These were all because of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang ‘s help, therefore father could raised the respectful heart.

She also shared an incident when she participated in the fire puja in Japan in May this year, When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately allowed the attendees came one by one up on to receive the offerings which was blessed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and throw the offerings into the fire, when her second round to receive the offerings, just when Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was reciting the mantras, she felt very pleased to hear so closely when Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was reciting the mantra, so she was distracted, did not squatted down and move closer to receive the offerings, at the moment Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche took over her paper tray and threw aside, not allowing her to receive the offerings. Later Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened on the dharma throne, this is committed the fault of not paying attention to the movements of the guru. She was very grateful she could continue to line up and received several rounds of the offerings for fire puja. Once when she was receiving the offerings, when walking down the steps she slipped down, fortunately it did not affect the continuation of the puja. Later Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave enlightenments to her, when she was implementing a job instructed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she thought too much, went on to asked opinions from others, did not instantly follow Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s order to act, these meant she did not have enough confidence toward the guru. She fell down meant the dharma protector was reminding her to pay attention to her own mindset.

She was very grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche who continued to help her to amend and correct herself, she had always been arrogant and arbitrary, she thought she was very capable, she never asked opinions from her parents on things, at most lightly described the important points of matters to her parents. She never discuss important matters to her parents, she was not filial at all. She was very grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for the teachings, and decided she must amend and change herself, strive to cultivate Buddhism.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ascended to the throne and enlightened that, in order to let people understand the correct attitude of learning Buddhism, last time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had already explained Gampopa’s teaching for the enjoyment of listening to Buddha dharma and the four thinking ways of satisfied enjoyment. Today Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche proceeded to enlightened Gampopa’s teaching for the satisfied Implementation of cultivating Buddhism. Actually for past 10-odd years, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continually enlightened the correct attitude of learning Buddhism. Today, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche reiterated those important points with Gampopa’s teaching, they would be very important for your future cultivation. For learning Buddhism, the most important point is the motive, when you have the correct motive, it would take effective for your cultivating Buddhism.

Gampopa’s teaching was that on the whole, for a listener of learning Buddhism, he must possess the essence of satisfied Enjoyment and satisfied Implementation. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that, when you have attained the achievement of satisfied Enjoyment, your eighth consciousness will naturally emerged those experiences from your previous lives, and you don’t have to think it intentionally, or do it intentionally, the virtuous root of cultivation by previous lives will be appeared naturally, therefore you will understand what it is. The so-called Implementation is that you would carry out what you would like to do in practice. There are three contents of satisfied Implementation: The satisfied preparation for practices, the satisfied correct practices, and the satisfied final practices. The so-called preparation for practices is a proceeding before your practice, which means the warming up exercise. When you have a correct preparation, the next step of practice will be implemented without deviation, and then the final practice is to make dedication, that is a satisfactory practice.

The most important point is motive for the preparation for practices, many years ago, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang presided over an Empowerment of Kagyu Ngag Dzö for 15 days. During that time, there were lots of so-called “Tantra practitioner” attended the puja, when His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang was practicing one of Yidam, they would take out the Buddhist statue of this Yidam, and busily showed the hands signing mudras in the same time. Upon seeing the phenomenon, there was one time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had a relaxed conversation with His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang regarding to this phenomenon, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche humorously suggested if His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to preside over the empowerment of “Thousands hands” of Avalokiteshvara, would not they be very busy for them? Actually to show the hand signing mudras is not referring to practice the Tantra. Some Masters would claim that they would like to cultivate the interchange with others; they would like to absorb unwanted matters from others and deliver your own benefit to others. Don’t think that the so-called the cultivating of interchange with others is so easy: when someone had the headache, you would visualize that you are absorbing his suffering from his head; or someone had the suffering on his foot, you would visualize that you are absorbing his suffering from his foot. Actually, it is wrong. The cultivating of interchange with others is to cultivate the compassion. You have to use your happiness to interchange with suffering from others. You have to cultivate firstly and then you have the ability to help others by utilizing the power of compassion. The actual interchange with others, except the moment when you transfer the suffering from the sentient beings to you, and there is no pain for the other side, as well as you do not have any pain at all. By this way of practice and it can be workable and effective. It is just like the Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche mentioned in Chod puja, you must have the ability to digest them, and otherwise you are unable to help sentient beings indeed. For a practitioner who would like practice by the way of the interchange with others to benefit sentient beings must have the ability that he has attained the achievement of practicing Zen Samadhi and his mind will not be affected by anything. It means that his mind will not be affected by any suffering or happiness; just like Diamond Sutra mentioned “Generate the thought without having any attachment” Actually Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche practice the Chod puja for 1,000-odd people on Friday, proceeded to meet 100 odd believers on Saturday, and continually presided over the puja on Sunday, it was an example of interchange with others.

Why did you make prostration to the dharma photo of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and visualize Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and you could have the help when you had the troubles? It does not means that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche have the so-called clone. It is that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had attained the compassion of emptiness, and there is an incarnation of compassion power. Now in the worldly society, the so-called Psychic people often found Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s disciples that they are a huge incarnation behind them, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche smiled to the disciples: It means that you cannot do evil deeds, you will be discovered.

Why did you feel that it is difficult to observe precepts, and furthermore some of new disciples worried that they would be unable to observe the precepts, actually how can it be difficult for observing precepts? Before taking refuge, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche could drink out a bottle of hard liquor once a time. However Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can get rid of drinking wine from the first day of taking refuge, it is a decision, when you make up your mind, you will be able to achieve it. It was that because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche knew learning Buddhism would be helpful in future, as well as it must be for sure to benefit sentient beings. Therefore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had made decision at the beginning of learning Buddhism. It depends on your decision whether you will do it or not.

Don’t think that in Esoteric Buddhism can allow us drinking alcohol, even if wine offering would be performed in the ritual which is stated in the dharma text, there is another meaning for it. Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center performing the ritual adopts the grape juice instead of alcohol. If someone had illness which would need alcohol to collocate with medicine, it is acceptable for general people, but it is forbidden for alcohol abuse. For a guru who cultivates Esoteric Buddhism is absolutely prohibited from drinking alcohol. There is a Master who lives the northern Taiwan has the habit of drinking alcohol, there was one time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche reported to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang for this matter, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang replied to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche: “He can only transmit “four” precepts, because he did not observe Five precepts.” Some people might say that I can be moderate in drinking alcohol to let himself free from drinking drunk, however how can you distinguish whether it is moderate or not when you are drinking? There would be no measuring cup when you are drinking, especially you would have a notion that it is just merely one more cup when someone urge you or offer a drink. Furthermore they must consume meat when drinking alcohol; it is because that the alcohol is not easy to drink without accompanying with some greasy food like meat. Just like Cantonese called those dishes are that go with wine. Actually when you are drinking alcohol, you are consuming your merits; when you are biting the meat, and your merits are consuming more. All we had done before we died, the situations will be emerged naturally.

For the precepts of drinking alcohol, it is referring to alcohol abuse. Once you drank too much, your mind would be disorder. Therefore you would have your own idea and notion for everything; you would try to argue with others. Those are the influence by drinking alcohol. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that: Normally a person who is like to drink alcohol, he would stink from his body, even if it had been passed for one day. Not to mention the vomit, as well as the urine. There were lots of men in the venue raising their hand to agree with the same experience. This habit would guide him to the place with the same flavor. That is why those people who are alcohol abuse will fall into the hell, especially for the hell of feces after passing away. It is because that he may be used to this flavor, therefore he is easily to fall into this kind of hell by his own habit.

Do not believe that after 18 years in the hell, you’ll be reborn as a human hero! The period of time one has to stay in the hell is probably as long as you attach two zeros after the number 18! Additionally, after one can get out of the hell, he or she will be reborn as a monkey or gorilla. Modern science has already proved that monkeys and gorillas are very intelligent. Only one hundredth of their genes is different to those of human’s. The difference is resulted from the karmic force caused by drinking alcohol. When the time in the animal realm ends, the animal may be reborn as human being, but a retard one. If a husband and wife have an intercourse after drinking alcohol and conceived, the child they give birth to will be more likely to be retarded. Retardation does not limit to the condition of lack of intelligence. Such kind of children may be born with normal intelligence, but there will be some other problems. For instance, some children are disobedient to their parents and cause them troubles. Some don’t like to work and stay at home all day long. Others stayed in their room, surfing internet. They are used to live a life of a small circle. Do not think that retardation is simply an idiotic condition. It will cause emotional problems. Unstable psychic condition can be a kind of retardation. Nowadays, medical science has proved that drinking too much alcohol will result in Alzheimer’s disease as one aged. A doctor disciple reported that medical science has found that alcoholic or drug-abused parents will be more likely to give birth to retarded children. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave the following teaching. Don’t think that a toast will not hurt. Drinking too much will damage our brain cells and interfere with our characters. It will also cause us to enter hells after we die. That’s why Buddha Sakyamuni had established the precept of not drinking to protect us.

Since 1995 when Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche began to help sentient beings, rarely did Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche see that dying people can avoid suffering pains of medical treatments. From the story the disciple just shared, you can know that many people have gone through various pains of medical treatments. When 100 ill people are hospitalized, 90 of them have to experience many torture and pain of medical treatments. Even though you have witnessed and heard such pain when your families had gone through the pain before they died in hospital, you just can’t understand it. Why? It is because that needle had not pricked you yet. You have not cultivated your compassion because you can’t sympathize with others’ sorrow. You always claim that you fear the law of cause and effect. Don’t say such thing any more! Since you actually don’t fear the law of cause and effect, you’d become sluggish when learning Buddhism. One who really fears it will follow his or her guru’s teachings and advices and observe the precepts.

Many terminal cancer patients will accumulate ascites and many dying persons will discharge urine, feces, and ascites which are extremely smelly. Many disciples who have been nurses said that their experiences of help cleaning up the deceased are exactly as what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche explained. Ascites will be discharged and it is indeed very fetid. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche further taught that the deceased who were bestowed with Phowa Dharma would not discharge ascites which were disappeared completely, instead. At site, many disciples whose families have been helped by the auspicious Phowa Dharma performed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche also said that such auspicious sign has indeed manifested. They all were very grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Compassionately, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked a doctor disciple to explain, in medical sense, why ascites would accumulate. The disciple reported that those terminal caner patients’ organs can not function normally due to the cancer cells. Our body fluid should be metabolized by livers. If livers are damaged by cancer cells and can not work effectively, as body fluid goes through livers, the body fluid can not be released by the organ. The fluid will then infiltrate into veins in order to be metabolized. Thus, it becomes ascites. In terms of Buddha Dharma, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then explained the phenomenon of ascites is a manifestation of the sentient beings we have eaten. As a dying person inhales his last breath, he wants to discharge these waste. So his consciousness will go downwards and enter into the three evil realms. Since ascites is stinking, his consciousness will follow the smell and enter into the hell of feces. Why, however, the deceased who has obtained Phowa Dharma will not discharge ascites and it simply disappeared out of the void? It is because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has saved and liberated both the deceased and his or her karmic creditors.

Precept is not used to control or restrain you, but is used to protect you and let you know that we should not originally do some things. When Sakyamuni Buddha just began to promote Buddhism, he did not mention precepts. It was in the later stage, when there were more and more people who practiced Buddhism and some standards were needed for this situation, Sakyamuni Buddha then began to teach sentient beings to keep precepts. This was because people became more and more complicated. The purpose of precept is to give us a scope which allows us to know what we can do and what we cannot do. In fact, precepts prevent us from hurting sentient beings and help us cut off from the cyclic existence. Precept is a protection net and shield. When you keep precepts, you will be protected by a protection net and shield generated by the guru. Once you break your precepts, this protection net and shield will disappear. Some disciples would think, “Drinking at home should not harm sentient beings, right?” Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then shared a story with all participants. There was a believer of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche warned him that he should not go out drinking before the Dragon Boat Festival; otherwise, he would be beaten by others. The believer thought, “It should be fine for me to drink at home.” Unexpectedly, he got drunk and acted crazily at home; as a result, he was still beaten by his girlfriend.

Some people will say that if they do not drink alcohol they will not be able to engage in social functions and will have no friends. But you should have heard the phrases of “fair-weather friends” (wine-and-meat friends) and “tippler” (alcohol ghost). There is a proverb that birds of a feather flock together. When you keep drinking alcohol, the friends gathered around you will be just fair-weather friends. Why don’t you think differently that once you stop doing evils and no longer drink alcohol you will make even better friends? And if one drinks a lot of alcohol, one will become a ghost. Why do we often mention “alcohol ghost”? It is true that there is a kind of ghost called “alcohol ghost”. Do you want to become one of them?

In the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche teaches followers in a severe way. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asks followers to strictly observe precepts. The number of those who are punished to kneel outside the entry of the center could be enough to organize several more centers. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not propagates business Buddha Dharma nor the marketable Buddha Dharma. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just follows the ancient mahasiddhas’ way to teach Buddha Dharma. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not take note when listening to Buddha Dharma. If you cannot abide the teaching way Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche adopts, you can just leave at any time. In Taiwan there are too many Buddhist centers everywhere, one after another in each street. Some people may think in this center they would be strictly required and they could learn in another center. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that this kind of concept is wrong. In the beginning of taking refuge, guru clearly asks the followers if they can observe precepts. Only those who promise to observe precepts would be allowed to take refuge. Now, however, some people don’t keep their promise to guru, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and sentient beings, they of course would not learn it. Many followers who are expelled from the center think they can continue to learn in another center and extend their cultivation. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that it is impossible. As the lineage is broken, they ought to start from the off, minus zero. Besides, they broke the Samaya precept to guru, so they need long time to accumulate merits. As the saying goes, one ought to accumulate the provision of merits and wisdom. If you are an employee, you would know that you have to work from the first day of a month and after one-month hard work you would get the pay. As for a boss, he also works very hard. Nevertheless, you certainly find that it is very easy and fast to spend money. The earned money could just be spent in a short while. Merits are just alike. It is hard to accumulate merits but easy to consume it.

A follower whose family members have all taken refuge. However, her father still took meat for her grandfather to eat. He thinks the grandfather at the old age does not have much time to eat, so he just let him to eat meat as the grandfather likes to eat meat. As a result, the grandfather is found that his heart has been infected by bacteria, as seen by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and one third of his heart lost its function. You are not aware of that you are doing your grandfather harm and let him fall into the hell!

Buddhist cultivation is not for you to have good health, success career, or not being involved with lawsuit. These kinds of things one suffers in the current life are just the cause of his previous life, and really have nothing to do with Buddhist cultivation. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, taking his skin cancer for example, ever had melanoma and one of his followers, a doctor, confirmed it was skin cancer. Having skin cancer, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not see doctor nor did he pray for Buddhas. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just said to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, if having illness is good for me, please let me have disease; if death is good for me, please let me leave the world. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche never thought about praying for blessing, but instead, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just lives till now. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas’ vow is to help sentient beings of the six realms obtain liberation from the suffering of the three evil paths. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche got to know he was found having skin cancer, the thought Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche arose attunes to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas’ vow. Therefore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, without undertaking medical treatment or praying for His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to conduct dharma for him, has attentively cultivated Buddhism and just got himself completely recovered from skin cancer. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche knows that these are the manifestation of his own evil karma. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche hopes to pay off his debts early and get liberation from the cyclic existence early. Not being afraid of death. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche lived another 20 years. You who are afraid of death would die earlier. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that, seeing the teachings of Gampopa about transforming an illness to the use of walking on the Buddhist path; namely having disease can also help one to cultivate Buddhism, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche got to know that he has transformed his illness to the use of walking on the Buddhist path. As one’s disease let him contemplate and cultivate the law of cause and effect. Having disease is just the retribution of the blossoming stage rather than fruiting stage. The retribution of fruiting stage is to fall into hells. Through Buddhist cultivation, one can change the fruit’s flavor. Don’t answer back to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche that fig doesn’t flower but directly blossom. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, since childhood, had eaten many figs given by his mother. Therefore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche knows fig also has flower that just hidden in the flower bud and people mistake that the fig directly blossom. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just beforehand talks about what you may think. So don’t ask this kind of question anymore.

Master Gampopa enlightened that there are three aspects of the “completion of practice”, which are completion of preliminary practice, completion of main practice, and completion of conclusive practice. In the stage of “completion of preliminary practice”, we should apply “Bodhicitta” as overall motivation to hear the dharma. In the stage of “completion of main practice”, whatever dharma-teaching we listen to, we should always listen by the approach of “equipped with six paramitas.” At the stage of “completion of conclusive practice”, we should put all good roots as dedication to the perfect enlightenment of Bodhi in order to benefit sentient beings. To sum up the above-mentioned, the method to vow to truly practice before hearing the dharma is that: we should consider that, as to all wide-spreading sentient beings, who are like in the dreams or emptiness, I must try to settle them to the Bodhi and Buddhahood. In order to achieve this, I must try to realize the ultimate and perfect greatly-realized-Buddhahood. And, in order to achieve that, I must try to well listen, comprehend, realize, and practice these precious teachings! While listening to the Buddha dharma, we must arouse these auspicious vows. In brief, as to the dharma listeners, “pure and clean mind” is extremely important.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that “completion of practice” here includes preliminary practice, main practice, and conclusive practice. During preliminary practice, Bodhicitta should be aroused. Bodhi is a Sanskrit term. In ancient time, the Tang Dynasty, while Xuanzang translated the Buddha sutras, in three kinds of situations he would not paraphrase but just translate with phonetic transcription. One of the three is that the words or terms have many meanings. Bodhicitta can be classified into relative Bodhicitta and absolute Bodhicitta. Relative Bodhicitta is from the thinking. Absolute Bodhicitta is naturally generated from the emptiness. In fact, there are three aspects, which are preliminary practice, main practice, and conclusive practice respectively, for practicing every dharma methods, such as for mantra recitation, contemplation, and burning incense to make an offering to Buddhas. One ought to always benefit beings with Bodhicitta. The teaching of Bodhicitta was already given before. Simply speaking, Bodhicitta is the essence of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Its meaning is that one learns Buddha dharma from the higher level and liberates beings of the lower level.

In Exoteric Buddhism, most monasteries would conduct recitation of Golden Light Sutra on the ninth day after the lunar new year. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was still learning Exoteric Buddhism, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was never the major sponsor even though the amount of offering that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche made was the greatest. Once, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was the vice sponsor at a puja. After the abbot offered incense, it was Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s turn to offer incense to the Buddhas. At the time, it suddenly occurred to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche that he should make the offering on behalf of all the sentient beings. No one told Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche about that at the time, nor had Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche read about this teaching. In fact, it was the manifestation of his virtuous thought accumulated in previous lives. Someone was taking pictures on his back and took 3 consecutive shots of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche when he was burning incense to offer to the Buddhas. Then, the 3 photos all showed that there was a hand reaching to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s heart from the Buddhist statue. These photos were put away and no one knows where they are because the Exoteric Buddhist mater said that the photos should be put away and never be seen again. The Exoteric Buddhist master said so in order to protect Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche from being envied. Therefore, his Exoteric Buddhist master should be thanked.

Therefore, when practicing the preliminaries, one should initiate such thinking as his motivation in the very beginning. Do not think for yourself. Instead, think entirely for the benefit of others. When conducting the main practice, one should employ the Six Paramitas, i.e. practicing generosity, precepts, tolerance, meditative concentration, diligence, and wisdom, in his practice. To practice tolerance is more than to endure the pain. A practitioner has to tolerate all of his attachment, desires, and thoughts, including his suffering and happiness. Conducting the concluding practice is to dedicate to the Bodhi, the perfected Enlightenment, for the benefit of all the sentient beings. If the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas’ sea of meritorious virtues were solid, it would be larger than the universe. If one is able to join in the sea of meritorious virtues, he will have incredible rewards. Nowadays, some believers still say that they won’t share their merits and virtues with the sentient beings because they consider themselves needing those merits and virtues. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, however, advises that one should not say so and should give everything to the sentient beings as much as possible. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche himself was able to practice generosity well in the beginning. Therefore, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Buddhist study could be accelerated later on. The Vajrayana and Mahayana place great emphasis on the importance of Bodhichitta. If the Dharma propagator and listener are able to attend the pujas with this mindset, they will accumulate merits and virtues in a natural way. Every time before the puja ends, you see Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enter the meditative concentration during your recitation of the dedication prayers. When you are able to conduct dedication in your meditative concentration, you can then truly accumulate your meritorious virtues. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche read the teachings of the great Gampopa today and thereby knew that it would take the Six Paramitas to help the sentient beings. However, even though Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had not seen this part of the teachings before, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was able to achieve it, after all.

Last week, a disciple who recently sought refuge came to see Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, saying that there were some problems with her factory and her employers. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then told her that something had taken place at the entrance of the factory. This Saturday, she came to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche again and brought the floor plan of her factory. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her that there are problems in the floor plan and that she would need to make changes. She immediately talked back, saying that she had asked the landlord, who said that no accident had taken place. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked her how much money she had placed in the red envelope, which was to be offered. In reply, she said that there was 10 thousand NTD. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her that the current fee for looking at one’s Fongshui is 10 thousand NTD per Ping. She has a factory with over 100 Pings, but would she be willing to pay that much? If she was willing to pay that much, she would then be qualified to speak. She did not want to give that much and was afraid that she would need to spend more money refurbishing her factory. Thereby, she talked back. All of you have heard that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had helped a disciple to make changes to his factory, which brought a lot of earnings. You still wouldn’t believe.

When she came to see Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche last week, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not tell her about the problem. Therefore, she came again this week. Why didn’t Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche tell her about the problem? It was because she came to see Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche with her employees. If Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had told her that there were ghosts in the factory, her employees would have quit out of fear. Everything the guru says is in her interest. She did not realize that and talked back at once. She later admitted that she had burned paper money and worshiped at the entrance in Taoist style. Hence, many ghosts that had not been helped congregated. The reason why she would have such a reply lies in that she sought refuge with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche on specific purpose. She does not have the sincerity to learn the Buddhist teachings. Then, Richen Dorjee Rinpoche instructed the chairman of the Glorious Buddhist Center: The disciple cannot make offerings to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche or to the Buddhist center. Nor can she learn the tantric practices.

Previously, one of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s employees scattered salt at the store front and was punished by Richen Dorjee Rinpoche. She failed to work diligently with her heart and tried to have the ghosts and deities take the responsibilities. A disciple even spoke for the employee, thinking that she did that for the sake of the company. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche immediately said that this kind of conduct was incorrect. As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had learned Taoism since childhood, he knew that this kind of action would draw the ghosts near. When one works at a company, he or she should work decently and earn their salary, rather than get help from any ghosts or deities. To his employees, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is not their guru and is only their boss. People with various religious beliefs can work for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s company. As long as they carry out their tasks according to the regulations, it will be fine.

When reciting the Sutra of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha’s Fundamental Vows, many people would say that they feel a back chill and think that perhaps the ghosts are behind them. According to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, if the ghosts are there, they will definitely feel more than the back chill. For example, when you attend the Chod puja and many sentient beings in the hell come to the occasion, the temperature will be very low and dimly cold, more than a back chill. You feel a back chill simply because you have exerted strength during the recitation and sweated. Therefore, you naturally feel cool when there is a wind. In fact, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha salvages the sentient beings in the six realms, much more than the ghostly beings. Do not think that Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, with a vow to refrain from attaining Buddhahood as long as the hell is still occupied, only salvage the ghostly beings. In Buddha Sakyamuni’s lifetime, the Buddha once asked Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara to spread the Sutra of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha’s Fundamental Vows widely. Therefore, Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha are good friends. Sometimes, when we conduct visualization in the practice of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha would appear. In other times when the practice of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha is conducted, Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara shows up. It has something to do with the cause and condition of the sentient beings at the time of practice.

One of the six Paramita is endurance. The meaning of “endurance” is that one should endure all fame, profit, obstacles, and happiness. It is not correct even for one to have the feelings of light, calm, and full of Dharma joy when listening to Buddha dharma in a puja. One has to endure such feelings because such feelings will let you have attachment to Buddha dharma. Eventually, one will attain a state of actualization in which one realizes that all things are beyond birth and decay. When in such a state, one has attained enlightenment on the nature of emptiness and has had no attachment, so, naturally, one will not feel that there is a need to endure anything. Why does Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche want you to sit cross-legged on the floor during a puja? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche wants you to be able to endure the leg pain. If you cannot endure the slightest discomfort in your body during a puja, what else can you endure? Why will some people doze off when listening to Buddha dharma in the Buddhist Center? One reason is that they have poor sleep quality every day. Another reason is that they have heavy karma; according to Buddhist scriptures, demons of sleep will come to interfere with you. If you feel sleepy, you should straighten up and adjust your condition to bring up your spirit. If such a situation happens often, you need to give rise to big repentant mind since it indicates that your karma is very heavy. Because all of you have blessings, you can then sit here and attend this puja. There are still many sentient beings in this world who do not have the cause, condition, and blessings to listen to Buddha dharma. If you had not done virtuous deeds and practiced Buddhism in your past lives, you would not enter the door of Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in this life. The fact that you are here indicates that you had accumulated virtuous conditions in your past lives; and in this life you have been given another opportunity now to continue to accumulate virtuous conditions. You are too lucky now when listening to Buddha dharma during a puja; you can sit cross-legged on the floor and lift your legs when feeling leg pains. Tibetan people are not like you who can sit comfortably in an air-conditioned room to attend a puja; they all sit on the ground. When it is cold in winter, they just wrap in a piece of woolen cloth, being frozen with running nose and dry lips. They are not as blessed as you, who can still sit in an air-conditioned room, are. Hence, it is not very easy for those who have blessings to practice Buddhism.

“Diligence” does not mean that how many sutras you have recited or how many repentance prostrations you have performed every day. “Diligence” means that you can complete one thing attentively. You will find the following situation. If you have to do one thing and you focus on doing the thing, you can quickly finish it; however, while doing the thing, if you mix it with other things or eating, it will take you a lot of time to complete it. If you can focus, you can attain achievement on meditation and then accumulate merit. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can concentrate and has attained achievement on meditation. Although Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is very busy and is more than 60 years old, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can remember what he has said, things reported by the disciples or employees in the last meeting without consulting any notebook. For example, before a meeting for Amitabha Buddha puja, the disciples had prepared for the meeting for a very long time; during the meeting, while the guru spoke, many disciples took notes as well; later when the disciples handed in their reports, one sentence of feedback from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would just invalidate a large number of reports. This was because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has attained achievements on concentration and meditation. If one can keep precepts, one can then attain achievement on meditation; if one have the ability on meditation, one can naturally uncover his wisdom.

In Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, there is no rule that you can become a special contributor by donating a large sum of money, or there is no rule that you can wear special clothes to indicate your special position; there is also no rule that you will be treated differently because you have more money than others. In front of Buddha dharma, everyone is equal. The status you have had today in the society was caused by what you had done in your past lives. If your background and relationship can somewhat help the society, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche may give you more time so that you have the opportunity to practice Buddhism. However, if you can neither help the society nor practice Buddhism diligently, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will not give you any chance. Some monks and nuns of Exoteric Buddhism think that now sentient beings need the help of Tantra; because they have not learned Tantra, they do not have the ability to help many sentient beings and thus do not have many followers; in order to have more followers, they want to learn Tantra. Having this kind of idea indicates that they do not believe in the law of cause and effect. Whether you can have good conditions with sentient beings in this life, whether you can become an abbot in this life, they are all the results of your cultivation practices from your past generations of lives, and whether you had created many good conditions with the sentient beings then. Do not cater to the needs of believers and do some inappropriate things for attracting more believers. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had owed you in previous lives, so you have just showed up here in this life.

The Buddha dharma taught in these two weeks is very important. Actually, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has always taught these things since Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche began to promote Buddhism in 1997. Today, using Gampopa Master’s dharma speech plus Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s experience of cultivation practices in these years, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told everyone these concepts once again. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has not seen the contents of Gampopa Master’s speech before. However, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has already achieved them. You should not practice Buddhism wrong; if you practice Buddhism wrong, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will expel you from the Buddhist Center. Both Vajrayana and Mahayana Buddhism teach sentient beings the methods for escaping from the cycles of birth and death. The usual method of Exoteric Buddhism is to use a sutra and explain the verses in the sutra one by one. And the mind of a Vajrayana guru is more extensive, so the method used by a Vajrayana guru is more vigorous. But no matter which method is used, they are all Buddha dharma. Like coffee, it has regular coffee and espresso coffee. Those who have an unhealthy heart will have trouble drinking espresso coffee. A guru of Vajrayana is like so and will use all kind of different methods, such as hitting, scolding, shouting, and so on, to spur you on. If you heart is not well, you will not be able to stay here naturally. If you cannot accept these teaching methods such as hitting and scolding, you will naturally not stay; even if you want to stay, it will be very hard for you. The result of your leaving is not caused from the expulsion commanded by the guru; if the generation of your mind is not correct, you will not be able to stay and will leave naturally.

If one deeply believes in causes and effects, the precepts could naturally be kept. If the body of precepts are kept well, wrong things naturally cannot be made. You do not have to think whether it is wrong or not while saying or doing that. Some people come to ask what were the wrong things they did? Or want to know who are them in the last lives. All of those do not believe in causes and effects and have profound greed intention. So those newly-refuged disciples do not have to worry that what could be by keeping precepts. You have not done that because you are not determined. In the beginning of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s learning Buddha dharma, he recognized that Buddha dharma can benefit himself and others and then determines to learn Buddhism in this life. That determination is really and greatly different with yours. You are lay devotees and you can think that did you consider so much while the boyfriend and girlfriend kissed at the first time?  It is not but just did that. When you ordained people decided to be ordained, the determination was also solid. That mind needs to be applied for learning Buddhism for determining to do.  But When does the result outcome? Do not hurry or presume. While many people start to learn Buddhism, they are nervous everyday, hurry to recite sutras, do many sessions and appear in front of the guru everyday. But after a year, they slack off. It needs to be slow for learning Buddhism. Do not hurry. But it could not be too slow, either. Like strings, it is not workable if too tense or loose. But you do not know what is your current status. As it is depicted in the Buddha sutras that the guru is like a tuner. When you are too tense or too loose, he would properly remind and tell you. So, you should be confident with a guru who follows the dharma as well as has virtues and merits. You should believe everything he says and does is to benefit beings. You should believe that you can achieve what the Buddha sutra said and then determine to do. However, you just always believe your desires.

It is depicted in the Ratnakuta Sutra that there would be Buddha followers twisting the Buddha dharma and flattering the believers at the age of dharma-declining. Some may say that there are many gurus outside but how could we know which one has merits and virtues. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that it is your causes and condition to meet kinds of the gurus or evil teachers. From the beginning of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s learning Buddhism, no evil teachers had ever been met. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche even came here from the very far place by airplane. His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang also came from the very far place by airplane. You locals who were born and grown up here still meet with evil teachers. It is just your karmic connection.

Some people learn Buddhism and quickly see the result of learning Buddhism in this life if their good and evil karma, which is made in the past and accumulated lives, is almost cleaned. If they have few evil karma in accumulated lives but have much good karma, they also can quickly see the changes if learning Buddhism in this life. However, if making very profound evil karma in the past and accumulated lives, it needs time for making the evil karma slowly turn toward the development of good karma. It needs more and longer efforts. Some people may say that the result are the same after learning for two or three years. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that it is good for maintaining the current status with nothing changed. It means that they do not retrograde. No karma cannot be turned. No karma cannot be cleaned. In order to do that, what is the critical point? It is your determination. You should not be afraid of or worry about learning Buddhism. Things depicted in the Buddha sutras must be able to be achieved by you, must be helpful to beings and helps beings to liberate from the cycle of incarnation. Because of learning Buddhism, we just can change own future and march toward the bright future. If both completion of intention and completion of practice are correct, our goals and direction could just be right. It could be possible for becoming better in the future. Upon that, our fearing and scaring mind could just be slowly reduced. One should not fear even if having cancer. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can well handle the cancer, which is the most difficult thing to be handled you think. Practically, the diseases are not difficult to be handled but the human beings’ mind is the most difficult things to be handled. So you should not tell others that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche must be able to cure their diseases. Because human mind changes casually. If helping them to cure the diseases, the disease would come back again once their mind changes.

When we started arousing to learn Buddhism, you would find that it gradually becomes better in you family. If one in the family can practice to arrive at the pure land, the offspring can naturally be affected. The family will gradually start to touch Buddha dharma. When can the changes be seen? Do not expect or hurry. Just believe that learning Buddhism is a good thing, which helps both beings and oneself. But it refers to the practitioners who attain and realize the level can just bestow their merits and virtues to offspring. It says that “If one attains achievement, nine tribes would be lifted to the heaven.”(一人得道,九族升天 ) The “nine tribes” here does not definitely refer to your family in this life. Everyone has many beings on own body. One who truly learns Buddhism to attain achievement can help the family to reborn to the Heaven Realm. It is like that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s merits can shield the refuged disciples to make the disciples not to die at improper time and have enough time to learn Buddhism for accumulating the virtues. All your income in this life is made in accumulated lives. Whether you have position and wealth or not, all are the causes you made in last lives and presentation of the effects of this life. It does not matter whether you learn Buddhism or not. It  is not because you attend pujas every Sunday and have no time to be social with customers, then you have no business. There is no absolute relationship between social activities and business you have. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is very busy. But why can Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ascend the throne to enlighten dharma every Sunday? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not have to get social with customers but just to get social with you. Many dharma masters do not meet with believers. When the disciples have problems, they cannot find the guru’s help because the dharma masters are too tired and unwilling to meet. But no matter how tired Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is, he meets with believers to solve their questions on Saturday. Because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche fears no tiredness.

One male disciple reported, he had done one very evil deed he believed to be once before, when learning exoteric Buddhism, once he met an old monk and asked how to do? The old monk replied, righteousness and evil are two parallel lines; you could not do one righteous deed to eliminate one evil deed. Later he met many other exoteric Buddhism dharma masters, the answers were insolvable. After took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, because there were a lot of time stayed in the United States, he could only listened to the tape recordings of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s enlightenments from the regular pujas. Recently listened to the tape recordings of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche from 1999 which was many years ago, that time Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche already talked about those important concepts about us raise the aspirations to cultivate Buddhism. In other words, even as early as that time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had already cultivated to such level of state, his own realization after listened to the recordings was he felt very repentantly, could not attend Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s pujas, could not have heard earlier of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s auspicious enlightenments. These contents, in many years ago, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had already given enlightenments. Grateful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, also thankful to the many volunteers and teams from the venue, under the guidance of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the venue could continued to operate, also very thankful to the encouragements from the Buddhist brothers.

Another disciple who had cultivated Buddhism in other lineage for a long time reported, in the past in other lineage had heard about the completion of joyful mind and completion of bestow and act. Himself had studied many classic scriptures, but could not had a clue on how to achieve it. After took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, saw the act and speech of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in reality, then realized himself had not learned in the past. These disciple repent that he did not took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at the very first time he met Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, then finally realized only after his mother had passed away, also because his mother had attained Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Phowa dharma, with that virtue then could this disciple took refuge, otherwise maybe this disciple could be lived in India for the rest of his life. Furthermore, could have been taught by a great practitioner directly, everyone should cherish it. This disciple observed some habits naturally presented by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, in fact those were habits carried from cultivations of many previous life’s. For example, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said he does not like to stroll around the streets, these were mentioned in Buddhist scriptures as 〝Correct understanding then act.〞. Furthermore, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche once enlightened, Once Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche suddenly wanted to ask one disciple to join the meal, during the meal time Rinpoche suddenly reprimanded this disciple, the next day this disciple had a car accident but did not have serious consequences, these meant Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had cultivated to a thought free state, could sense the need of sentient beings then gave help.

At this point, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave enlightenments, speak to this point, tell a story to everyone. Some time ago there was a ordained nun who broke her leg and came to besought audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, after Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave her blessings, her leg felt better, so she felt this guru had some abilities, therefore, this week she came to beseech audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche again. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave her blessings, Rinpoche saw her once mistreated a cow, therefore the karmic retribution was the broken leg. She instantly replied〝How was it possible that she mistreated a cow, it was good if the cow did not mistreated her.〞Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened〝It must be that you made the cow very uncomfortable, you families relied on raising cows, killing cows, how could it be good?〞When the first time she came to besought audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, her attitude at the time was just for a try, therefore her karma could not be seen, because someone told her, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was very capable, could help her. Until the second time she came to besought audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, her attitude was more reverent, her merits naturally raised up, therefore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche could saw there was a water buffalo standing behind her. With no merits, your karmic creditors would hide so Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche could not seen it. Everyone may thought that she had been ordained for more than thirty years, Everyday chanted sutras, recited mantras, made prostrations, why would it still like this? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened〝Because one does not understand cause and effect, did not make repentance. Fortunately, this ordained nun hold her own duty all her life, the offerings which should not be accepted, she would not accept it, just her mouth was a bit chatter. Therefore, the merits from her chanted sutras etc.., allowed her to besought audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. At last, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche instructed her to Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic to saw the doctor and took the medicines, all for free of charge, because after her leg pain and illness, there was nobody to take care of her.〞

When you took refuge under the guru, then you must completely believed that everything the guru did was for the better of you. Before one female disciple’s husband passed away, he make an offering to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche with his retirement fund of five hundred thousand dollars, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche agreed to use these money to make one Buddha statue. Because when he was alive, he was ever disrespectful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, after he passed away, although he attained the Phowa dharma from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, but when he went to the Pureland, he was in the lower rank of the lower position. Although even his families did not know he had made this offerings with these money, but Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche still kept his promises, after the dharma completed, his money was used to make a Buddha statue. After the Buddha Statue was one, his rank and position went up immediately.

Besides the accumulations from meditations, the accumulations from virtues and wisdoms are also important, needs to be accumulated slowly. A while ago, one deceased female disciple, after she took refuge, she followed Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to many auspicious and sacred places to made pilgrimage. Although later on, she did not believed in Buddha dharma and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, But the accumulations from virtues and wisdoms still existed, therefore after she deceased, she attained the auspicious Phowa dharma from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and transferred to the Pureland. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche took the one million dollars offering from her daughter and used it to made Buddha statue, allowed her mother’s rank and position in the Pureland could be raised. Being Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was truly very painstaking, bring you to overseas, some people are afraid to go, then have to gave you blessings so you do not died on the way, if you died, then have to perform the Phowa dharma immediately for you. Recently some people because they had spent most of their money, therefore when facing about going overseas, there was hesitation.

After hearing of these two stories, you don’t come to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to plead for offer Buddha statue. It is case by case that can’t be the same. If you plead for this on your own initiative, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will not do it as you desire. Sometimes Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not arrange someone’s offerings to make Buddha statue because everyone’s karmic condition is different. By these two stories, 1,500 thousand NTD was gone. Moreover, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ever rejected offering of 20 million NTD.

A disciple who has sought refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche 8 years said he had visited many Buddhist centers and heard of teachings from many lamas. But their teachings all were not able to touch your heart so deeply like Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s does. He vows to correct his deeds from now on. He has so many impressions about Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s teachings but he can’t express these. He ever heard of the teachings about the impermanence of life and the faults of samsara and today’s preparatory procedure, main procedure and concluding procedure that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave today in other Buddhist centers. But why he was not impressed? Recently he keep listening to the audio recording of dharma talks that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave since 1998. He found t10 years ago Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has already given the teachings that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave today, and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has been a great siddhi 10 years ago. He feels he did not learn Buddhism genuinely in the previous 8 years. The teachings emphasize that you should apply what you have learned. When he listened to the audio recordings before, he felt auspicious but could not understand. He just felt Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is a like bright light that could dissolve our problems. Now he understand it a little that, out of his own practice experience, Guru shows us the greatness of dharma with his body, speech, and mind. He uses every conditions and very methods to help us apply dharma in our daily life. Buddhism could not be learned alone by oneself. One should rely on an authentic guru, his compassion and wisdom, and his great capability to help us. If one follow a guru for long time but can’t understand these, then one’s really is wasted. If one gain some understandings but can’t achieve these, one life is wasted too.

Another female disciple reported that, while listening to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s teachings, she kept thinking over what her attitudes were for hearing the teachings. During the past 20 years of her cultivation, she had participated in many pujas, recitation of texts, empowerment. But she never thinks over her motivation of learning Buddhism, and her attitudes. After hearing of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s dharma talks these weeks, she was deeply impressed and shocked. She recalled that the first time when she met Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had told her not to ask anything. Therefore, she does not ask her health or career will become better. She feel great gratitude towards Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings from his scolding.

Then, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued his teachings: The reason to let these disciples speak of their impression is not to let them fawn on Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. It is His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang who recognized Rinpoche Dorjee Rinpoche’s attainment, not your adulation. It is also His Holiness who know how big Richen Dorjee Rinpoche’s capability is, not you. Dharma is not beyond the mundane methods. The way to learn dharma is not just hearing teachings during pujas. It is to adopt the dharma into the daily life. Today’s dharma talks about preparatory procedure, main procedure and concluding procedure can be applied not only in performing rites or reciting mantras but also in daily life or career.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche expounded that preparatory procedure is the preparations. They are like how one works in the office that one must think of the best plans before starting a task. One also plan how to continue the tasks that have not been finished yet in previous days. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche took how his work experiences of his young age. Every day after getting up and before leaving for the office, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche always think over one time what was not finished the previous day and how to do with these and the priority. Nowadays many people go to the office with their breakfast. They do not start their works till they eat their breakfast, which takes 5 or 7 minutes. Should it be done before their arriving the office? This is the example that they do not do the preparation. Your boss buys your time with your pay. You should do your job with your best efforts. At least, your efforts should be deserved by your pay, let alone your boss.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s first and the followings thoughts about running business are what the customers need and what are best for them. Others plan their business based on how much money they could in a few years while Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s plans are how much money Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche could lose in a few years. If the first thought is correct, the followed actions will not make mistakes naturally. These concepts could be applied not only in life or work, but also in politics. Like the last news about fighting for water is because they do not have the thought of giving. Politics is not to criticize each other. Instead, what to do for the people should be considered. Like the female disciple who shared her story prior to the beginning of the puja. Why her parents objected to her learning Buddhism? With her personality, her parents would have been afraid she was deceived. Why are you deceived? It is because you are not willing to suffer loss. That’s why you feel you are deceived. Like those news that are reported often such as one discloses someone’s noodle or soup of the noodle bowl he bought was less to the media. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said it is the authentic dharma is degenerating. Do not watch news like those, which will teach people not to suffer disadvantages. Those who do not want to suffer disadvantages will not achieve the attainment of mercy and compassion. If you are really given less noddle or soup, you could prevent yourselves from visiting the same store again. If you count all the details, you do not have the mind of giving.

It is same for the main procedure, the time of main practices. Think over if your actions comply with the six Paramitas. If you are very attentive to your work, you will not make any mistakes. When doing your job, do not think it is enough to finish your own assignment. There is no tasks that could be finished by just a single department. If you think much more for other departments and how to improve the tasks, you will do your jobs well naturally. The cooperation among department is also one kind of giving.

It is also the same for the concluding procedure, i.e. the dedication. You should have the intention that all are benefited. Do not occupy the credit alone, being afraid that you will not have chances of promotion and your boss will not know your contribution if you share the credits with others. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said even your contribution is not known but at least others will not attack you and feel comfortable to work with you, and will not get hurt to work with you. This is also an achievement. If you could share your credits with others, how could you have any obstacles in your office> Therefore, do not say Buddhism cannot be applied in the daily life. Actually, the dharma can be completely applied in the life and work.
