His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presided over an auspicious puja of Longevity Buddha at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taipei, for the virtue of practicing dharma and reciting mantra, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche made offering to Three Grace Root Guru His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang.

Before the puja, firstly there was a female disciple shared the shared the experiences of her and her family members were helped by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Before her mother took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, her mother was not only sickly, but also had chronic disease such as melancholia, diabetes, and psyche asthenia. Three years ago, before the mother’s day, her mother suddenly left her home to abandon her family, during that time, this disciple visualized that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was bestowing the blessing to her mother. She was unexpected that it was the third night, after she attend the Chod puja which was presided over by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, at the next day morning, when she and her sister would like to go to those temples on the mountain in order to look for her mother, her mother suddenly call back to her and saying she was staying in the hospital for an intravenous drip. She was grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche not only takes care of the disciples, but also for the disciples’ family members.

There was one day after her work; she found that her mother was lying on the floor of room. She quickly supported her mother with her hands. Her neighbors and the landlord all told her, her mother had fallen down for many times, as well as falling on the street. As matter of fact, her mother took a lot of medicines, and she had fallen down more than 50 times, until one week later, she could be able to stand steadily.  She was grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche bestowed the blessing to her mother; neither had she broken down her bone, nor any wound on her skin. She told her mother that she was helped by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Afterward the next three months, she took her mother and went to Glorious Jewel Company to make prostration to the dharma photo of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche every morning. After those things, her mother felt Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassion and gradually adopted the vegetarian diet.  Her mother was granted an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and beseeched for taking refuge. Finally, her mother took refuge in November, 2008. When her mother was taking refuge, being a daughter, she was crying with joy and having a grateful mind.

Before her mother took refuge, her mother had the illness of neurotic disorder which caused her sleeplessness, headache, anxious and moodiness. She often went to hospital see more than three doctors for one morning, and expected the suffering of illness could be disappeared right away. She was appreciated Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessing, now her mother is no need to have the western medical treatment, and she just goes to Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic for her illness. She was grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is so compassionate to sentient beings to establish the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic, she also thanked for the care of the doctor and nurses to her mother. Whenever she thought that her mother can have the teaching and blessing from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and her father was tortured with medical treatment and the suffering of evil karma power before he was died. Except she could make repentance, and she had gratitude to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

She had taken refuge for almost seven years, there were numerous stories for her to have the blessing and help from Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She remembered that when Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche started to establish the business of Japanese food products, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave her opportunity to sale the products, she was lack of merits, and she wrote a self-centered proposal. She was punished to replace her red vest with a blue one, after that, she just started to review herself and made repentance to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. The guru enlightened her “Why don’t you have the confidence to your guru? The confidence is the mother of virtues!”She just knew that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was teaching her the importance of having confidence to guru. There was one puja on Sunday, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked her stand up and instructed her to recite 100,000 times of the one-hundred-syllable Vajrasattva mantra. She was grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continually bestowed the blessing to her; she was regretful that she was unable to repay such a great kindness.

There was another puja on Sunday, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked her to stand up and bestowed her blessing. On the next day evening, her young brother was hospitalized and transferred to the ICU from the Division of Cardiology, and immediately to have an operation for Cardiac Catheterization.  She requested the doctor to take the dharma photo of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in the surgical operation room.  It was grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassion blessing, her young brother could be able to leave the hospital in three days; he was very stable for his health till now. During the same time when her brother was on the surgical operation, her sister was also on the processing of surgical operation for piles, and her sister’s wound was bleeding all the time. Therefore she visualized that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche also bestowed the blessing to her sister, her sister was also able to leave the hospital in one week, and right now her sister was very stable for her health as well. She would like to thank Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassionate blessing.

At the beginning of this year, she and her mother went to Japan and attended the pujas of Thirty-five Buddhas Repentance Ceremony and Dorje Phurba. She heard the guru’s enlightenment in one of the pujas: “Why were the family dependents not able to gather together, it was because of the killing karma done by previous lives. She ever established the business with her family members; however they parted in the end. For this reason, it was the point that she started toward on the path of learning Buddhism. She ever live in the study school of Exoteric Buddhism for a period, as well as read lots of sutra with the Master, such as the Five Sutra of Pure Land, Heart Sutra, Lotus Sutra and Diamond Sutra etc. But her mind was not settled, as well as there was no solution at all. Until there was one day, her study school was holding the ceremony of free captive animals; she was uncomfortable and encountered the ordained disciple- Huei-Lain Srih came to return the sutra to study school. She found that Huei-Lain Srih had a lot of change, she immediately asked Huei-Lain Srih to introduce her to meet Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in order to learn Buddhism and find the way of liberating reincarnation. Finally she took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in August 2004; after that, she felt that she could rely on Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

Since she took refuge, her guru gave her lot of opportunity to make offering and accumulated the merits, as well as correct her mind, including arrogant, lazy, and self-righteous, self-abased but sometimes would be self-important. Besides she also made repentance that her guru gave her opportunity to sale the Japanese food products, but she was not diligent to sale it. Since she had taken refuge, she often reminded her guru’s teaching and admonition “The Confidence is the mother of virtue”, “To learn Buddhism must have the concept and determination that one day we will be died”, “You must be aware of karma power and the cause and effect which is terrible. She often felt that she was littleness and scolded herself not to fulfill the task well. Why could not she let her mother to be proud of her? Why could not she attain the achievement till now? Why was she still in reincarnation?  Every time when she heard the music of greeting, seeing the guru’s figure, she could not help to burst out her tears. She was ashamed once she was thinking for her guru’s painstaking, therefore she with her mother went to meet Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and beseech for the opportunity of making repentance. She was very grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave her the opportunity to make full prostration in the evening every day since April 25.

Every evening during the night session of recitation when she was at the center, she looked at the dharma photo of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at the mandala, she repented to the dharma photo “As a disciple, I have not cultivated Buddhism as diligently as possible. With the great kindness of the Guru, my gratefulness can’t be described with words.”

She repented that she was not able to pay back the kindness of the Guru, parents, Buddhas, and sentient beings. She repented that every single thought of her arises is with karma and sins. Seeing that the Guru has been busy traveling to help sentient beings and has to receive more than 200 believers every week but she can’t help to relieve and share the hard word makes her very self-reproaching. Thinking of how closely His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche might die when Rinpoche, for the sake of giving blessing to sentient beings, was performing a retreat at the sacred location makes her feel pain and repenting. She also wanted to repent that she has been taking lives of many sentient beings in her past and present lifetimes.  She consequently has to be driven by her karmic force and living in such a filthy and evil world.

During the puja held the week before last week, she had felt heart pain because of her heart diseases. When she made full prostrations during the night session of reciting mantras, her heart pain got even worse as if she was going to die. She looked at the dharma photo of the Guru, she thought of those sentient beings who couldn’t make full prostrations, those who without hands and legs, her mother, all mothers, sentient beings in the six realms, the suffering beings in the enormous universe and so on, she cried. She told herself with the blessings of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she should keep making full prostrations and shouldn’t stoop. At the end of the night session, the feeling of heart pain became smoother. Today, there is no pain at all.

She was grateful that the Guru has given her the opportunity to make full prostrations at the Center for the sake of sentient beings. Even if she has to make full prostrations every evening at the center till the day she dies, she can still rely on His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Once again she thought of the earnest teachings of the Guru. It is like a thunder penetrating into her ears and she can always remember it as if it was heard for the first time. She deeply repented that even if the universe has gone to the end, her repentant vows will never disappear. On behalf of sentient beings, she earnestly prays to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, gurus of past generations, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas to give blessing to and protect His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She, as a disciple, earnestly implores that His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can commiserate sentient beings so to live in this world as long as possible. She also prays for the health of His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the endless turning of the dharma wheel, and the far reaching propagation and long lasting of Buddha Dharma.

Then another female disciple took the podium to share how Most Venerable Vajra Guru has saved and helped her for several times. At nine years of age, she was diagnosed with rheumatic heart disease resulting from catching a cold. Because of this disease, she had to quit school for two years. In 2007, she had a serious cold that worsened her heart disease. Her primary doctor informed them that she needed an immediate surgery and they shouldn’t wait until it was too late. At that time, she was overwhelmed with helplessness. Her husband went around seeking divine advices. As they hit the bottom, through an introduction of a dharma brother, they were able to make an audience with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Her husband asked to attend the regular pujas and Chod pujas and Rinpoche agreed. In January of 2008, they took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. At the beginning of her taking refuge, her mind was full of greediness, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt to the extent that various evil thoughts arose constantly. She had several times tried to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, but she couldn’t have the chances for about four times. It was all because of her heavy evil karma and her disrespectful thoughts towards Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. It was not until the time when she was so moved by the teaching of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to believers and her mind became pure without any other thought, she was able to meet with His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She was very grateful for the help Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has bestowed on her.  Not too long after she took refuge, as she returned to the hospital for checking her heart, the results showed that the functions of her heart have improved. The enlarged heart has also apparently shrunk. She told her doctor that it was all due to the help of Buddha Dharma. Even her doctor said it was possible.

She also wanted to make repentance to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and His Holiness the Kyabgon Chetsang. For a very long time, she has not followed what Buddha Dharma has taught her. Nor did she change her behaviors. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has taught numerous ways of practicing Buddha Dharma in our daily lives. Yet, when the conditions have tested her, she still simply behaved according to her own desires. Her priority was always the first when she carried out things. Oftentimes, she’d feel self-righteous. In April of 2010, she fell down from a chair at home. Her right ankle was injured. But thanks to the blessing bestowed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the injury was just a crack on her bone. With the medical care of the doctor of the Glorious Jewel Chinese Clinic, her injury was soon recovered within one to two months. The illness and the accident were all due to her not following what Buddha Dharma has taught and her heavy killing karma. In May of 2010, she again felt ill about her heart. Her heart rate raced to more than 100 times per minute. Frequencies of palpitations also increased. Her urinations were not smooth, either and her periods last very long and amount of blood discharged was a lot. She had suffered serious anemia so her heart had to work harder. In October, she was really ill to the extent that she had difficulty breathing even when she was lying down. It was not until then did she go to visit a doctor.  The doctor at once sent her to the emergency room where she was informed that she had to stay in the ICU. She was hospitalized on Wednesday and on that Friday there would be a Chod puja performed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. She didn’t want to miss this puja so she simply asked doctors to arrange a bed in the hospital for her. A dharma brother heard that she was in hospital and enthusiastically went to visit her. The dharma brother then made an appointment for her to make an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche on that Saturday. As a result, she told her doctor that she would have to apply a leave of absence on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Her doctor at first was worried that she was risking her life. Yet seeing their insistence, the doctor eventually agreed. When she was in the hospital, her heart rate was 130 times per minute and the doctor had given her some medication so the heart rate reduced to about 100 times before she left for the Center on Friday. After she returned to the hospital from the puja, a nurse dutifully came to measure her heart rate and blood pressure. Her heart rate had already reduced to 78 times per minute.

She just left hospital on Monday this time. During the period of her hospitalization, she took Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s dharma photo in her ward. Even the doctor came to ask her about her guru, as doctor has the chance to really see that Buddha Dharma can reach what medicine cannot. On Saturday, she came to the venue to express her gratitude to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. And Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her the reason why she would have severe anemia is that she killed chicken and let blood before. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche furthermore suggested her she take Chinese medicine to nurse impaired health. After taking the Chinese medicine of Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic, and having the big, natural, precious medlars that were searched by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for beings, her health got greatly improved. Before her mouth lips were black, but now they turned to pink. She has immense gratitude to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for even preparing the best Chinese medicine to cure anemia.

Were it not for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s repeating reminder, she would not have been aware how heavy her karma is. Before she met Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she almost killed one chicken every week. At that time she even asked the seller to kill the chicken on the spot for freshness. Now she felt she really has heavy evil karma. She ate not only many seafood but also meat. Thinking about that she had eaten so much, she doesn’t know how she could repay for it. Moreover, she also needs to make repentance on behalf of her departed parents. When her parents were alive, they lived by oyster breeding and farming, by which they harmed countless beings. Therefore they really suffered much in their lifetime. Her father had performed kidney dialysis for years, and finally died from aortic dissection. Her mother also had many pains of disease, such as Alzheimer’s disease, being intubated with Tracheostomy Tube due to her chronic asthma, and finally became a vegetable one to two years prior to her death. Were it not for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, she believed her parents would have been suffering. She was thankful to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for salvaging her parents and brought them to the good place.

She was also grateful to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. All of her three family members, her husband, her child, and her, as well as her second elder sister’s daughter joined the Sino Travel Agent’s tour to Kunming, Lijiang, Shangri-La, Caoxi Temple, Xi Shan Long Men, and so forth on July 18th. Before they departed, according to the weather forecast, there would be strong typhoon and almost rain everyday. However, during their six-day tour, it merely drizzled one to two days. It rain accompanied with thunder and lightning only one time, and it was in the midnight, completely causing no impact on their day tour. When in Shangri-La, they reached the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with a height of 4,600 meters. They ascended the mountain in early morning. It was such a nice day. Before her, it was the magnificent spectacle of the mountain. She, a patient with heart disease, dared not to think she could be in the beautiful alp, without any reaction to high altitudes. If it were not due to His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessing and Dharma protector Achi’s caring, what it would be?

She had taken refuge for three years, but she was self aware of that she did not do it well. However, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not abandon her. Recalling the first time when she sought an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche bestowed enlightenment to her that she just met Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in this life, if she does not attentively cultivate Buddhism, she will have the opportunity. Once, she came to implore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for helping her family members to come to follow Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in cultivating Buddhism. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told her once she does it well, they will come accordingly. She is very grateful for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s teachings and instructions. In this life, she makes up her mind to follow Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in learning and practicing Buddhism, and to correct her evil habitual patterns brought from accumulated previous lives. She prayed His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for helping her accumulate virtues and merits, and causal conditions to obtain liberation from the cyclic existence, and to be released from the suffering of reincarnation. She wishes that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang have good health, Dharma wheel is constantly turning, and Buddhism will always abide in the world.

The puja began, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ascended the Dharma Throne and bestowed enlightenment that today Buddha Amitayus puja is to be held. It is because today is a special day, the birthday of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s honored guru. With His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang’ consent, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche made offerings with the quality of the Buddha Amitayus puja to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. You just attended the puja, and don’t improperly think you practice Buddha Amitayus. You are not qualified to conduct dharma for His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. It is just that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and you make offerings altogether to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang with the Amitayus puja today. We wish His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang eternally abide in the world, as His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang is able to benefit sentient beings, unlike you who do evil in the world and leave harm to the human realm. Buddha has three kinds of manifestation: Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. The Longevity Buddha was the Sambhogakaya of Amitabha Buddha. Nirmanakaya helps the ordinary. Sambhogakaya helps practitioners who have attained the level of Bodhisattva. Dharmakaya attains the Buddhahood. The practice of Amitayus, not practiced in Exoteric Buddhism, is more usually practiced in Esoteric Buddhism.  His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang ever said that when an Amitayus puja is held in Tibet, many people will come to attend; When a Jambhala puja is held in Han area, many people will come to attend. Thereby, the difference between the two people’s character could be told. The average life in Tibet is around fifty years, and therefore Amitayus puja is needed. It is also because of that, in Tibetan tradition, a guru will give his follower, when reaching the age of forty, a prayer wheel. It is just due to that guru is worried about the follower would not have enough time in his lifetime and the time of mantra recitation follower has made is not sufficient, therefore, guru gives follower the prayer wheel in hope of that it could increase the time of sutra recitation. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche reached the age of forty, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang also gave him a prayer wheel according to the tradition.

Living long is to have more time to cultivate Buddhism, rather than to finish what you have not finished. In one’s lifetime, one ought to accumulate virtues and merits, don’t indulge oneself, don’t improperly think that one should indulge himself at an early age as he might have no energy to indulge when aged. You can just see that although Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gets on in years, he is still very energetic. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just presided over pujas and received believers for three days in succession: On Friday Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche performed Chod puja and around 1360 participants attended the puja; Yesterday Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche received over than one hundred believers; Today Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche held another puja with more than 1100 attendees. This is just because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not indulge himself in his youth. As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not waste his merits, he could just use them in older age. On the contrary, you may be afraid of that you could not play when you are old, so that you just play hard when young. However, in fact, the merits one does not waste in his youth can be used in his old age.

The Buddha dharma is totally different with other religions. The Buddha dharma completely explains about the heart, about your body, verbal and intention. Do not regard that nobody knows what you think in your mind. You think you have not spoken out. Then there is no one, including the guru, knowing and nothing would happen! Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha had ever said: every mind or intention aroused by ordinary people is karma and crime. So the guru sometimes publicly points out your incorrect behavior or intention and immediately corrects you. You may think that is it so serious for just speaking a wrong sentence? In fact, once you move the intention, there is the wave and all emptiness would know that. What the exoteric Buddhism says is the theory. By understanding theory only but understanding no approaches, one cannot have the ability to help others. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche read so many sutras in the before. The disciple who shared just now had read many sutras in the before. But the disciple still does not know how to realize the Buddha dharma. Do think you are practicing while reading so many sutras. If you do not correct the mind, only the human and heaven virtue is practiced even you read a lot. The strength cannot come out. When the nature of heart appeals, what your recite would make effect and the virtue you recited could just be used in this life.

At Friday’s Chod puja, there was not enough time for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to say. At the day of conducting dharma, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche saw many being with their arms or legs broken or without heads and just did not know who carry those to the puja. The answer came out yesterday. A disciple’s husband, who is a airplane pilot, came to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked him that while participating yesterday’s Chod puja, did him think about the crashed plane. The disciple’s husband answered “yes” since the airplane company he works for had a cargo plane crashed in South Korea. It caused the casualty on the plane. But the disciple’s husband just thought about the crashed plane in the puja and then those beings came.

It is depicted in the dharma text that if the practitioner has practiced Buddha Amitayus and attained achievement, the practitioner would not die at the improper time. So-called improper time of death refers that one is should not die originally but suddenly dies. It includes car incident, taking wrong medicine and having wrong surgery operation. All of above events count. If you often arouse the evil intention, the strength of evil intention would accumulate and then affect you. If you often arouse the good intention, the strength of good intention would accumulate and could have great impact. Do not think that nothing would be happen for just a intention. When the mind and intention moves, the signal will be left in all universes. The strength of the karma would just vanish after a long period. If you often arouse the evil intention, you would easily be impacted by the strength of evil karma, vice versa. For example, modern scientists have proven that sunspot or solar storm would impact us all who live on the earth. Those things are invisible by the eyes but all impact us.

It is the causes and condition in accumulated lives for you being able to participate today’s puja. Because you come here, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, as well as the guru, could just help you. Today’s puja could just be held. If you do not come, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, as well as the guru, cannot hold the puja to benefit you. If you come, you cannot receive the help without Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and the guru. So no one of the above three parts can be lacked. In the last few pujas, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that the motivation you attend the puja is very important. If you are for the sake of own illness, family or business, you would think your request are not fulfilled and then leave after attending several times of pujas. It is because the initial motivation was incorrect. Like the things in the Chod puja mentioned just now, if the pilot did not think about the crashed plan, those deceaseds would not come. If it were not the vowing power by the guru, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, those deceades could not be transferred consciousness even they came. Because of the vowing power and ability of the guru, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they could be transferred consciousness in the Chod puja.

Esoteric dharma was spread into China in Tang dynasty so it is call “esoteric dharma of Tang” instead of “esoteric dharma of Han.” But the esoteric dharma of Tang have been lost now. The esoteric dharma of Tang then was transmitted to Japan and called “esoteric dharma of East.” The Tibetan esoteric dharma is transmitted from India. So the true transmission of the esoteric dharma could only be separated into Tibetan esoteric dharma or esoteric dharma of Tan. As a result, there is either esoteric dharma of Tang or Tibetan esoteric dharma if you want to learn esoteric dharma. But it is very strict for practicing Tibetan esoteric dharma. It is very difficult. But the transmission of esoteric dharma of Tang have been lost for year. There are only two parts of esoteric dharma transmitted to Japan. Only Tibetan esoteric dharma completely preserves the content of the four parts of esoteric dharma. Many rituals in Tibetan Buddhism are different to those in exoteric Buddhism. To practice the esoteric dharma, it is not counted as practicing esoteric dharma for meeting with a Kyabgon in India to receiving the transmission of mantras and then return. It is depicted in Tripitaka that one cannot be transmitted the esoteric dharma if one has no the proper capacity. If one who wants to learn esoteric dharma is not that capacity of dharma, the guru who has merits and virtues cannot transmit. On the contrary, if the guru with virtues and merits encounters a qualified disciple who wants to learn esoteric dharma, the esoteric dharma must be transmitted to the disciple. That is the Samaya perception which the guru keeps. It is like that one has learn a profession well and must transmit the profession to others.

A Buddhism monk of the TV station came to seek an audience with His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang in India. The monk waited for a long time but His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgön Chetsang did not meet with him. The monk often waters with water-blower on TV and said the nectar water are blown to beings. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that it has never been depicted in the Buddha sutras that beings can be bestowed blessings by watering-blowing. Also, the meaning of nectar is very profound. In Exoteric Buddhism, the purification is performed with a willow branch because it can eliminate the filthy inside the water so the water is purified. In Esoteric Buddhism, the precious vase is used because it represents the three bodies of Buddha and the purification will then be efficacious. It was not in the sutras that plastic or glass spray bottles will work. Maybe some would say the reason Buddha Sakyamuni did not say it is because there were no plastic or glass spray bottles in the past. But 3000 years ago Buddha Sakyamuni had predicted many things that happen nowadays in the world. If using plastic or glass spray bottles to spray the nectar worked, sutra should have said so. In addition, this master also waved flags on the TV. This is not tantra at all. This is not stated in the dharma text either. If using spray bottles did work, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would not have spared no effort to cleanse 20000 attendees during last year grand puja by sprinkling nectar over the attendees repeatedly with an auspicious hand-held grass bundle. It would have had been OK if Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had sprayed the nectar with a spray bottle on the throne. But Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would not do anything that is not taught in the sutras.

There are 4 classes in the tantric practices: Kriya Tantra, Charya Tantra, Yoga Tantra, and Highest Yoga Tantra. In Eastern Esoteric Buddhism, only the Kriya Tantra and Charya Tantra are transmitted. If you are the patrons of this practitioner, you are egilable to ask him what classes there are in the tantric practices. Drikung Kagyu’s Mahamudra is somehow similar to Zen’s practices. However, that one ever said Mahamudra is the Mo Zhao Zen of Zen School is incorrect. He said so because he had not achieved the attainment of Mahamudra. Drikung Kagyu’s teachings are very strict that Mahamudra teachings is to point to the mind directly so that you would know you r own problems.

Today is July 1st of the lunar calendar. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would like to remind you again that it is not depicted in the sutras that the ghost door is open on July 1st and liberation ceremony should be held for it. Does it mean liberation ceremony shall not be held other than this month? The saying about ghost month is demanded by the market. Some businesses earn particularly well during this period, but just some limited businesses. That’s why some people promote the ghost month events. You should be able to understand it. Buddhist liberation ceremonies are not the ghost month. They are originated from the story about how Venerable Maha- moggallana made offering of food to monks in order to liberate his mother from the evil realms. So July is also call the filial piety month.

Tantra is not mysterious. As the example that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche often gives, tantric teachings for those who have not practiced tantras yet is like the PhD courses for the elementary school students. Because the elementary school students do not understand the PhD teachings, they feel these are mysterious. And you are just like the elementary school students who are asking a PhD scholar what he learns, and he has to explain them with the explanations that are understandable for them. This is like the teachings that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has given you.

One of the purposes of today’s puja is to let you all, under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s guidance, have the opportunity of making offerings to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang is a practitioner or bhiksu who is endowed with all wisdoms and all precepts. The Sutra said making offerings to a practitioner with perfect precepts could accumulate great merits. Another one is to let you all create connection with Buddha Amitayus so to receive help from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in the future.

When imploring Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to help and extend the lifespan of their parents or themselves, many people would use the reason that their parents were good people in this life and should not have this kind of serious illnesses, or that they, as a parent, could not die so early since they still want to see their children growing up. From Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s point of view, these reasons were words to threaten and intimidate Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Even words saying that they will do virtuous things or become a vegetarian after they have survived are all threats and intimidations to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Wanting to see their children growing up or wanting to do good deeds in exchange for life are all their own desires. If Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has not fulfilled their desires, they will curse Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche for lack of compassion. Such imploration has no effect.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, in the course of helping sentient beings for so many years, discovered that sometimes when your illness is cured you still may not be able to live. Many people, after their disease had been cured, died instead because of other reasons. Lifespan is also a part of blessing; when a person’s blessing is used up, their life will be ended. There were many people who exhausted their blessings; though they were not in the end of their lifespan, they would also pass away. There were also people who had their illness cured or even had no illness, but still passed away. This was because they had no blessings! Therefore, in addition to having longevity, the most important thing for a person is to have enough blessings. Blessings will affect your life in this world.

Parents gave us this body so that we can practice Buddhism through our human body; because of this, we cannot repay our parents’ kindness even with all the treasures in the universe. However, our parents cannot teach us Buddha dharma. Only by following and depending on a guru’s teachings, we can then seize the chance of this life to cultivate and practice Buddhism. Therefore, the kindness given to us by the guru is more than the kindness given to us by our parents, because only the guru can help us to change the karma done by us in the past and to change our future. Before the occurrence of the karmic retribution for what we have done in the past, there are still opportunities for us to change it. However, to achieve this, we must have a guru to supervise us and we have to do things by truly following the Buddha’s teachings. It would not be enough for us to repay the guru’s kindness even if we make offerings to the guru using all treasures with a volume as large as Mt. Sumeru. And money offering is the most trivial. The biggest offering is if you are determined to practice Buddhism and escape from the cycles of birth and death. But, you still have not done even money offerings. Why is a guru of Tibetan Buddhism particularly important? It is because a guru will specifically look for your trouble and pick your problems. A guru’s mind is very fine and careful. When a guru sees your fault, they will correct you, not giving you any chance to do evil deeds. If you want to repay the parents’ kindness, the guru’s kindness, and the Buddha’s kindness, you have to practice Buddhism diligently.

Then, the ritual of Longevity Buddha began to proceed. First, a lamp offering ritual was conducted. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ignited the main lamp in front of the Mandala, then lit the lamp on His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang’s Dharma Throne, then Namdol Khenpo’s lamp. Eventually, the lamps of the nun disciples were ignited. Then, a Mandala offering ritual was conducted.

Next, a tea offering ritual was conducted; all participants recited the tea offering prayer. Then Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche led all attendees to recite Longevity Buddha’s Heart mantra for a very long time. Then a Tsok offering ritual was conducted, so that all participants had the causes, conditions, and blessings to share the offering food with the guru, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

Next, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately let all participants approach the Dharma Throne to receive Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings from the treasure vase of Longevity Buddha, and bestowed nectar juices and nectar pills on all participants.

After the dharma conduction, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then enlightened the attendees that there were four disciples who had done some inappropriate actions when receiving blessings. Some of them put their hands on the Dharma table; some of them even held the Dharma table with both hands, fearing that they would not attain enough blessings. Another two male believers also did so, holding the Dharma table with their hands. If you were afraid of stumbling and falling, you should not come up to receive blessings! This does not mean that the Dharma table cannot be touched; it indicated that these people did not pay careful attention to watch what others were doing ahead of them and only took care of their own feelings. Some of them had taken refuge for a long time. There were more than 1100 people attending this puja today. Only these six persons acted differently than others. Because of their selfishness, they did not pay attention to how others ahead of them were doing, and acted with their own ideas. In the future, there are many chances for you to follow Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to attend Drikung Kagyu’s pujas abroad. As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s disciples, you should pay special attention to your own words and behaviors, and pay attention to a puja’s rituals. You were very lucky, taking refuge under a guru with such fine and careful mind. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was very compassionate and punished these disciples to perform full-body prostrations in front of the Buddha statues on the spot.

In addition, there were those who thrust their heads forcefully, fearing that they would not attain enough blessings. If Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not have good physical strength to hold the treasure vase firmly, it would have been possible that the whole Dharma table was knocked down after being thrust into 1130 times. And Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche still had to recite mantras and shake a small bell for such a long time. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had conducted a Chod puja on Friday that had 1300 attendees, had received more than 100 believers on Saturday, and conducted today’s puja that had more than 1130 attendees. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s body could still endure these activities until now because of the blessings from the lineage gurus of past generations, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas. Many monks and nuns of Exoteric Buddhism said that they want to help sentient beings to carry their karma.  They do not have the ability to carry sentient beings’ karma. You should not say this kind of words either. For example, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has helped so many people. Will the Qi of these people’s karma rebound on Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s body? This will happen somewhat. However, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can dissolve the bad effect. For monks or nuns of Exoteric Buddhism, they may not be able to dissolve such bad effect. In fact, as long as you are really doing things for the Drikung Kagyu order, the gurus of past generations, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas will help to let your body have the strength to endure tiredness.

For more than ten years, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche really helps many beings. So it consumed the health so much. So in 2007, His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang ordered Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take retreat. That was because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche helped so many people before 2007. But at that time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s merits was not enough to give so much. While helping so many people without having enough level of virtues and merits, some Mara kings would be so jealous and plan to make you leave. Everyone had also ever heard that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche almost passed away in the retreat room. The guru would always take care of disciples, know what the disciples need and then help them. His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang always watches Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and knew it was the time. So he requested Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take retreat in 2007. At that time,  His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang also did not clearly tell Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche  but just asked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take retreat without reasons. It is the same  this year. The call was suddenly had to instruct Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take retreat.

Today is His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang’s birthday. Many other centers choose to release animal or other activities. Rinchen Dorjee Rinchen think over and over. It would be better with the dharma-offering. After seeking for the permission of His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, there could just be Amitayus Puja held today.  In fact, it is not suitable for releasing animal in Taiwanese environment. In the before, so-called animal-release refers to release the domesticated animals, such as cows and goats, to the mountainside since they diet grass naturally and would not starve to death. Now, people always release birds or fishes. If the fish you release does not fit that sea area, it would die just after releasing. Do you harm it instead? Now you are in the urban area and there is no condition for releasing animal. There are so much causes and conditions, as well as causes and effects, inside that. In the bucket of fishes you pour, maybe it is time for some fishes to payback their karma. Their karma would be cleared now after the death. Instead, you delay their death for several days and change their karma. Many people come to the seaside. The buckets of fished are handed over between the people. They received and pour the buckets over and over. In their mind, they think the fishes are through their hands and they make karmic connection with the beings. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that: It is surely making karmic connection! Making bad karmic connection. The real animal release is to no more kill lives of beings. No killing lives. There is even no killing mind in the heart. It is just the real animal-release.

You should not believe others’ saying about opening of ghost gates in July. You worship or burn hell notes in the before but would not do that now. You do not know whether something bad happen? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche burned the hell notes in the before but does not burn now. He becomes better and better. You fear that it would be bad if not burning hell notes. It is also the greed intention. There was a clerk in the store of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s corporation of Japanese food department. She was neither a disciple nor a Buddhist. Every time when she felt the business is bad, she just throw salt at the door. That was also because the manager of the corporation did not manage well and let her throw salt at the doorway everyday. They acted as such for a couple of months but do not think that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would suddenly come to the store. Then all were just uncovered. Upon that, we can see the dharma protector is so awesome. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then enlightened to one disciple about this thing. The disciple thought the reason for clerk doing that maybe was for the corporation. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche scolded at that spot. One should not rely on ghosts and deities for everything and believe no causes and effects. One receives the salary from the company should only think how to do the job well, but not throw all the problem to ghosts and deities in the excuse of doing good to the company. It relates to virtue whether the business is good or not. If having good virtue, the business is naturally good. If the business is not good and the customers do not come, it is because your virtue is shallow and do not work heartfully. But it is not caused by ghosts and deities’ hindrance. If having no such recognition, one never think about reflecting on oneself and can never learn Buddhism. The Confucius said: Asking no beings but asking ghosts as well as deities. The beings are yourselves. You should ask yourself whether you do good deed or not. You do not need to ask ghosts and deities.

Today, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche leads everyone to recite 1,000 times of the mantra of Buddha Amitayus. By multiplying by 1,100, the amount of attended people for today’s puja, it equals to 1.1 million times. You cannot recite to that quantity in this life. Additionally, it is hard to have causes and conditions for everyone to apply the same mind for reciting together. Such power is very great. Today the merit is also great. In the Friday’s Chod puja, beings whom you want to be transferred consciousness had been all transferred. What Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche speeched on the throne are all the true words. If there is one person truly learning Buddhism in your family, your family’s atmosphere would become more and more peaceful. The attended everyone in chorus thanked His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.
