His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche presided over an auspicious regular puja at the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center in Taipei, enlightened the direction and concepts of cultivating Buddhism. After the puja, proceeded to meet believers from 4:45 pm to 6:30 pm gave enlightenment to 35 believers with Buddhism and helped them to relieve all kinds of suffering in the world.

efore the puja, there was one male disciple shared the process of his father was passed away and liberated by the Phowa dharma which was conducted by His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and he also made repentance in public for his mistakes.

His father was 94 years old when he was died, and he had lived together with his father for recent 10-odd years.  He witnessed that his father was getting old and infirm for the last two years or three years. He knew that his father was on the end of his life. His family members all knew their father’s habit and worried that their father would not bear with the torment of illness. They never expected that their father could pass away with ease, as well as gaining the Phowa dharma which was conducted by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche could be reborn in the Pure Land directly. His father could have such great virtues, he added, it was completely bestowed by his Guru. He knew that he can’t afford to repay such great grace.

He took refuge under Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche on November 02, 2008. Afterward, one day, he made offerings to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche; Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche suddenly asked him “What’s the matter?” He was stupefied, and then Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately asked him again. He suddenly recalled that his father had been 90-odd years old, but he was unable to be a vegetarian. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately enlightened him not to do the killing karma for his father. As to that, it would depend on his father’s karmic connection. Therefore before his father was passed away, they did not do the killing karma for his father. Several months ago before his father died, his father became a vegetarian as well.

Last year, there was one dharma brother reminded him that we should make the karmic connection for our parents with our guru. Afterward, he with his sister and his father were granted an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche at Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center. He and his sister advised his father must knee down upon meeting with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in order to show his reverent mind. His father agreed with a nod. When they were in front of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche ask them what the matter was, he just mentioned that his father had been 93 years old, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche immediately recited the mantra to bestow the blessing to his father. During the processing of reciting the mantra, his father was reverently kneed down. After Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche bestowed the blessing, his father reverently made offerings to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately accept it. His father did not learn Buddhism before, he was grateful that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave his father the opportunity to accumulate the virtue.

During this Chinese New Year, his father appeared the dying portent which was mentioned by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche: The karmic creditors would change to the figure of ones relatives to take them into the three Evil Realms before one was dying.  His father mentioned that he witnessed his relatives who had been passed away would like to take him away. He got Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s permission that his father could attend the Chod puja since February of this year, on the next day of the Chod puja; he with his father went to meet Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and beseeched whether Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can conduct the Phowa dharma for his father in the future? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche compassionately promised and enlightened him “Although Rinpoche has promised you, you should grasp the karmic connection and virtue by yourself, as well as praying dharma protector of Drikung Kagyu Achi for help every day.  After hearing Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’ enlightenment, he finally laid down the burden in the heart, he was grateful for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s help. Thereafter everyday he reminded his father to remember Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche; Richen Dorjee Rinpoche had promised him that he will take him to a better place. His father joyfully worshiped the dharma photo of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche every day.

On May 30, 2011, when he came back from the tour of Japan puja, the nursing staff told him that his father coughed up the phlegm with blood in it two day ago. Due to his father often coughed up the phlegm for these two years, he did not take it seriously. Meanwhile he watched his father every day, his father always mentioned he was ok, as well as his brothers and sisters visited his father, his father also replied he was well. On May 31, he mentioned the problem to a doctor regarding his father’s phlegm with blood in it. The doctor suggested him to arrange an examination for his father. On Jun 03, the doctor took the X-ray photo and discovered that his father’s right lung had been completely failed; it should be the lung cancer for the initial diagnosis and have been a long period for this illness. At that time, he just realized that how great the power it was for his guru bestowing the blessing to his father, it let his father could live without any suffering, his father was only as one grew older one’s body declined. The doctor suggested him to do further examination such as the CT scan. He immediately made the arrangement for his father to be hospitalized.

On the night of June 6, his father had appeared the phenomenon of the four aspects of body decomposition and quarreling for going home. The nursing staff made a phone call to this disciple’s sister. His sister came to the hospital to accompany with his father about 2:00am and notified all family members in the morning. Due to they had signed the letter of DNR authorization for his father, therefore the nurse only installed the monitor of pulse and oximeter, and wore the oxygen mask for his father. On the day of that morning, he and his sister recited the Six-Syllable Mani Mantra beside the bed of his father; meanwhile when his father opened his eyes, he took the dharma photo of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in front of his father‘s eyeshot in order to let his father could be able to watch it and reminded him to follow Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. His father was awaked to express that he would know it. He made a phone call to Glorious Jewel Antique Company and advised the dharma brother for his father’s condition. The dharma brother immediately made the note of his father’s name and Chinese Zodiac sign, and reminded him to immediately call back again when his father would be passed away.

His father’s mind was turning to well in the afternoon, and asked to remove the oxygen mask, they could not but obeyed his request. About at 4:00 pm, the nurse came to measure the blood pressure, and it unexpectedly got normal, as well as the index of oximeter was normal. Their family members laid down the burden in the heart. He came to report the doctor that his father was getting well, and he could make the arrangement to let his father leave the hospital now. During that time, his family members were accompanying with his father in the sickroom. About at 5:00 pm, the heartbeat of his father suddenly slowed down, and his father draw his last breath and stopped to breathe, his father’s pulse gradually slowed down and completely stop. He immediately called to the Glorious Jewel Antique Company, the dharma brother asked him to put his mobile phone on silent mode and waiting for further notification. He with his brothers and sisters reciting the Six-Syllable Mani Mantra beside the bed of his father, and whispered to his father that he must remember Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would take him to the best place, besides he reminded that his father must be joyful and grateful, as well as he would wish other sentient beings that they could be like him to follow Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in order to go to the best place.  Meanwhile, he put the dharma photo of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche above the head of his father.

It was about 20 minutes passed, there was miraculous happening, and the monitor of the pulse suddenly indicated the number of pulse. The pulse rate was around 20 to 30 per minute; it lasted for 10 seconds, and repeated again after stopping for 10 seconds. He found such phenomenon was appeared for 4 times, his sister claimed that she saw at least for 5 or 6 times. Afterward he got the phone call from the dharma brother of Glorious Jewel Antique Company to notify him that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had conducted the Phowa dharma. The dharma brother told him to touch on the crown of his father’s skull, he found that it was warm there, and the pillow was warm too. On the contrary, his forehead was cold.   He immediately told the good news to his brothers and sisters and asked them to touch it. His sister and the nursing sister also witnessed the extraordinary of auspicious signs. Although his father had gained the Phowa dharma, his mouth was opened. His sister touched his father’s chin trying to close his mouth. He immediately dissuaded her from doing that and told her, she should take her ease; there would be no problem at all, it was because that when one gaining the Phowa dharma, the body would not became stiff. About half an hour later, his family members started to clean up the remains of his father, changed the clothes for him and dealt with the formalities. He contacted with the funerary service company to pick up the remains of his father to the funerary home at Chung-Li. It was about 4 hours after his father passed away, he asked his brothers and sisters to look at his father’s face which was very serene and his mouth had been closed well.

Before his father passed away, his sister-in-law just told to his sister that she did not believe the fact of salvation. It was because that she saw lots of experience that the bodies of the deceased were still stiff even if they had gained the helping repeating the Buddha’s name for 8 hours. This time, she could personally witness the auspicious signs of the deceased after gaining the Phowa dharma; she was convinced and joyfully went with him to meet Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in order to express an immense gratitude for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s help. One of his sisters said that in Lamrim Chenmo mentioned the rejoicing in virtue is just like a pauper who is very joyful when he is picking up the treasure.  When she saw his father gaining Phowa dharma, she was realizing the meaning of that sentence.  The process of his father passed away, their children had no sorrow but only filled with happiness. Originally they worried how their father could bear the suffering; they did not expected that their father could leave so satisfied, they were so grateful with that. When he recalled Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s grace, he really appreciated Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s mercy. He was so lucky, but he was regretful that there are so many sentient beings without having the cause and condition to have the help of Buddha dharma. His father’s funerary ceremony had been completed perfectly at the time which was instructed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, and the assistance by the funerary service company. After the cremation, there were three holes on the crown of his father’s skull. He took the photos to share with attendees in the venue.

He proceeded to make repentance in public: Before taking refuge, he was a selfish man only caring himself without giving a thought about others; he had no courage to take his responsibility. Besides, he went fishing everywhere to make the killing karma; he ever instructed his wife to abort two babies. It was not only damage his mother’s heart, but also his wife was blamed by his mother, it caused that his wife’s body and mind was utmost harmful for it. And then he had made the killing karma for two sentient beings. He was in partnership with other people to operate a chemical factory; the drainage of waste water was arbitrarily drained into the river. It caused that numerous of sentient beings were killed and the environment was destroyed as well. After taking refuge, he was trying his best to correct it, but his selfish habit often appeared in his notion, it caused that he was slack and not aware of it.

There were no words can express his appreciation for the great help to his wife and father was salvaged by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. He knew that he could not afford to repay the guru’s blessing completely. He also generated his vows that he will try his best to follow the guru’s teaching. He wish that he will make offerings to his guru with a pure body, speech and mind in future in order to repay the guru’s grace. He also prayed for that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can be healthy and lives longer in order to let Guru’s Buddhist activities flourish and the dharma wheel turning always, as well as the Drikung Kagyu Lineage will be transmitted forever.

After ascending to the throne, His Eminence Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave the following enlightenment. Today’s teaching will focus on the condensed but important concepts of learning Buddhism, which are about the direction and key points of your so-called cultivation and practice of Buddhism. Why should Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche take so much time to give teachings about Buddhism? As a matter of fact, it’s because you all want to have feeling about Buddha Dharma and like to understand Buddhism by listening to teachings and reading sutras. You’d think learning Buddhism is simply reading sutras and making prostrations. Moreover, you constantly expect when your own matters will be changed for better. Some even dedicate the merits of reading sutras to their karmic creditors and wish them to leave. These are not relevant to learning Buddhism. Even your thinking about when you may achieve realization is incorrect. For Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, learning and cultivating Buddhism is to follow teachings of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has exactly complied with the instructions of the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and gotten rid of his own thoughts. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche just obeys words of the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. When the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang taught Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang didn’t have to say so much. Because of the reverence and obedience of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche toward the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has been able to genuinely practice Buddha Dharma step by step and attain accomplishment. For the sake of your true understanding about Buddha Dharma, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has no choice but continuously explains it to you.

At this time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche saw a male disciple holding other disciple’s baby. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked him why. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said since he liked babies so much and wanted to care for other’s baby when attending the puja, whether he has taken good care of his own son and daughter? Why doesn’t he consider, together with his wife, having another child? This baby’s father was making full prostrations during the puja. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche reprimanded him that he shouldn’t give his child over to others, thinking it was justified that others should help him out. The disciple who helped out might reason that the father has to make full prostrations during the puja and the mother couldn’t attend the puja because she had committed a mistake. Thus, it’s only understandable to assist the father. If, however, he likes babies so much, he should change his career to become a nanny in hospitals. Yet, as a male, no hospitals could possible give him such a job as a nanny. Other possibility is that he should adopt that baby. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche then asked the father whether he would like his son to be adopted. The father gave a negative reply. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued to teach that the male disciple who helped out has been performing a benevolent act of fake compassion. He is only a lousy hypocrite. With his helping out, the father can’t repay his karmic debt by taking care of his own son. Additionally, his behavior of taking other’s baby was indicative of his not paying attention to the enlightenment of the Guru. He didn’t truly want to learn Buddhism but hope for blessing. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche warned him that it would be in no time he will be expelled from the Center.

In front of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, all your behaviors, subtle or not, can’t hide from Rinpoche. The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang once said that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has cultivated an extremely scrupulous mind. The meaning of “an extremely scrupulous mind” doesn’t refer to the situation when a boyfriend can take very good care of his girlfriend. Since Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s mind will not be influenced by the eight winds, Rinpoche’s perception can be extremely penetrative. Based on all the changes and signs of your body, speech and mind, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can tell your attitudes toward your learning Buddhism. There is no way you can cheat Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in terms of Buddha Dharma. The underlying reason that this male disciple wanted to help and take care of the baby is that he thinks his act is out of compassion. The act is also influenced by the eight winds, hoping that others would acclaim his caring conducts.

Last week’s teaching of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was to remind all of you to examine whether your conducts have been affected by the eight winds. For those practitioners of Mahayana and Vajrayana, they have to cultivate the Six Paramitas, including giving charity, observing precepts, forbearance, meditation, diligence, and wisdom. Among the Six Paramitas, the meaning of “forbearance” doesn’t refer to that you can stand others’ hitting and scolding and never fight or talk back. Rather, it means you have to endure the influence of the eight winds. For instance, you shouldn’t be affected by your own happiness or others’ admiration. In other words, you should be able to bear what others can’t. This is a dharma method of accumulating merits. It’s not that after you learn Buddhism, you are confined and can’t do anything. Instead, Buddha Dharma has given you a framework within which you can act safely without committing vicious deeds. You should learn how to control your hearts. The moment you indulge your hearts, you’d carry out evil conducts and you’d search for reasonable excuses for your evil conducts. Even if you can’t avoid being influenced by the eight winds, you at least can start to change all your conducts that will give rise to your reincarnation. If you can cut off the influence of the eight winds, you’ll finally obtain peace and happiness. Even if you might have to experience suffering, it will be reduced to a minor level. Like the water waves passing through a duck’s back, the kind of suffering will not affect you. Thus, you will have clear and thorough judgment about everything you encounter. Actually, you can judge many worldly things by common sense. But since you are always affected by the eight winds, you’d attach to some of your clinging which would then give rise to afflictions. The afflictions as such will result in your entering into reincarnation.

Some bosses would feel grudged when their salesmen or saleswomen were recruited by other companies. Why do such things happen? It is because you had done the same thing before. This is the law of cause and effect. In the Glorious Jewel Chinese Medicine Clinic, not long ago, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has hired a doctor who has specialized in traumatology. That doctor wished to continue practice his specialty so that he can keep seeing his previous patients. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, however, didn’t agree with his suggestion. Why not? The reason he could have previous patients lies in the fact that his previous boss has opened a clinic in which he could treat patients. His previous patients should belong to his previous clinic, but not to him. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told the newly hired doctor that if he wanted to treat those patients, he shouldn’t do it in the Glorious Jewel Chinese Clinic. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche believes in the law of cause and effect. If the clinic allows the new doctor to bring his previous patients, in the future, other clinics will certainly take the clinic’s patients without permission. Thus, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche wouldn’t allow the new doctor to keep seeing his previous patients.

You say you believe in the law of cause and effect. In fact, however, you don’t really deeply believe in the law. Those who deeply believe in the law of cause and effect dare not to do even the smallest and tiniest evil karma. Many of you come to cultivate Buddhism on the purpose of seeking blessing and in hope that good things happen to you and bad things will not occur. Nevertheless, this is not Buddha Dharma. If you merely hope to pray for temporary ease and happiness, you don’t need to cultivate Buddhism but just to sell your house and donate all of your wealth to the Ministry of the Interior for charity. It is certain for you to live a smooth life in three years. But you won’t be willing to do it either. Cultivating Buddhism is not to seek spiritual comfort. If you merely need that, you could just go to see the psychologist or spend money on listening to the lecture on psychology.  Such as the male follower who helped other to carry his child may see fit to listen to the lecture.

The dharma origin of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s begins from Taiwan. Although the number of Buddhism temples of Taiwan is large, the Buddhist practitioners who truly apply Buddhism into their practice experience are very few. As it is very hard to change one’s negative habitual patterns that have been gradually accumulated. It is one of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s friends who introduced him to meet His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. This friend is deceased now. At that time, this friend told Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche that His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang speaks Chinese and now is in Taiwan for raising fund in order to build Buddhism temples. Hearing this, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche reverently invited His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang to his home and financially supported His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang with NT$ 100,000. At that time the average income of Taiwan people is at the range from NT$ 8,000 to NT$ 10,000 per month. The amount of NT$ 100,000 was counted as a huge amount. Fortunately Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche sought the audience with His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, which originated the cause for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to learn Buddhism. Who would have known that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, born in China and grew up in Hong Kong, would come to Taiwan to meet His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, who came to India from Tibet? Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s original career plan was to immigrate to Australia or Canada. Before, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche never thought that he would cultivate Buddhism, learn Tantra, and even ascend the Dharma Throne to speak the Buddha’s teachings.

Today’s Taiwanese have so great merits that there are many temples. They also think they should be able to hear Buddha teachings from these temples as long as they want to hear. They also can watch Buddhist TV programs anytime. And they could take a sutra with them from the vegetarian restaurants and study by themselves. Therefore, they become not to cherish the Buddha dharma. They are not like Tibetan, who all listen to the dharma teachings under strong sunshine.

Buddha Dharma is hard to listen to and is extremely rare to obtain. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has helped lots of people. But in fact, the total population of the whole world reaches 6 billion, and the population of Taiwan is around 22 million. In comparison, the number of the people who could receive Buddhist help is really few. Even though the practitioner has both the power of vow and ability, without conditions possessed, he could not help those sentient beings. To help sentient beings needs great efforts. However, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang has arranged all practices for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. All what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has to do is just to follow His Holiness’ arrangement.

Hence, you really have to cherish the causal conditions of Buddhist cultivation. The causes and conditions are not decided by a guru but actually seized by you yourselves. You ought to seize the chance of getting together, rather than of being with your boyfriend/girlfriend, but instead the chance of learning Buddhism and being with Buddhas. Were it not for the causal conditions of your previous lives, you would not have had the opportunity to assemble here to listen to Buddha Dharma. It is also related to your causes and conditions for you to reach Hinayana, Mahayana, or Vajrayana today. Likewise, after Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s first meet with His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, if Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not continue to learn and practice Buddhism, this conditions might have gone and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would not have been alive now. Some people may say the practitioners of Hinayana do not need much karmic relationship with sentient beings. But it is actually not like that. The practitioners of Hinayana also need two necessary provisions, virtue and wisdom. If one does not sew virtuous karmic relationship with many beings, even if he has the power of vow, he still has no beings with the conditions to help.

There was a male follower who had taken refuge for years but then was disallowed by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to attend pujas a few years ago. At the first time when the new venue of Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center was established in the building, the situation of the building was originally in a mess. In order to lead the building to better development, the male follower, on behalf of Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center, joined the management committee and served as the chairman of it. After term of being the chairman expired and they were going to vote for the next chairman, the male follower, in the morning of the election day, urgently said he had another thing and could not attend the meeting in the afternoon. Another male follower, who served as the Director General of the building, regarded the chairman as his supervisor and did not show up for the election either. As a result, other person was just elected to be the chairman.

The building is a commercial building where people can freely enter in and out. However, the new elected chairman, seeing so many participants of the pujas held by Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center each time, required the participants to pay for going upstairs. Moreover, he even asked Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center to pay for the maintenance fee of the elevators. Many followers were scolded by him. Thank Dharma guardian Achi for protecting the venue all the time, the chairman had some problems for unknown reason and thereby he stopped interfering with Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center. Don’t improperly think it was Buddhas and Bodhisattvas who caused harm to him. Nor did Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche conduct dharma ritual for this. It is because the chairman was destroying the Buddhist center that really benefits beings.

This follower almost brought the Buddhist center trouble, by which the karma committed would be seriously heavy. Therefore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was not able to be considerate to the male follower, the original chairman. That he suddenly had difficulty to come to attend the election, in Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s view, was that he was afraid of troubles. He might think that he just wanted to cultivate Buddhism and did not hope to get involved in other affairs. He is so smart that he would take anything good and leave from anything bad as much as possible. After this male follower left the center, his wife and daughter still learn and practice Buddhism in the center. They saw the center was more and more flourishing, and he got to know that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is a great practitioner. So last month he came to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, carrying 1M NTD to make an offering to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Besides, he cried and made repentance. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, however, did not receive his offering as he knew he did not sincerely repent. If it were other person, seeing the cash in one million Taiwanese dollars as well as the offerer who cried and begged, he would have first received the offering. After Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche declined his offering, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche no longer saw him showing up. IT could be seen that the one did not sincerely make repentance. He now is the CEO of a big real estate agency. And he tells many people that the methods he uses in his job now are just learned from his previous job in Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s company. Now his income is at least tens of thousand NTD per month. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not want to talk about money.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche takes his whole life to cultivate Buddhism. For the Order and for his Guru, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can just abandon his life. But you cannot achieve it nor will you comprehend why to do it. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is never afraid of getting into trouble. When Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche learned Exoteric Buddhism, once, there were tens of foreigners of non-Buddhist religion gathered in front of the Buddhist venue’s entrance gate. After a while, they started to sing English songs, pointing at the Buddhas’ statues in the main hall. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche heard and found the content of the songs they sang were slandering Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. At that time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not see any other people who dared to appear to deal with this thing. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told the foreigners to stop singing. Besides, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked them to think about what they would do if someone goes to stand before their god and abuse it by singing. Hearing this, those people left. At the point of time, even tens of people surrounded Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, but Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche never drew back.

After they left, some of them who were especially strong came back to find Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. They told Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche they were God’s disciples and God gave them power. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche asked them to show him their ability on the spot if they really had it; Otherwise Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would like to fight with them. They were scared and ran away. To those who show no respect to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would never withdraw but definitely try his best to fight to the end. The foreigners were coming from a non-Buddhist religious organization just opposite to the Buddhist temple. If that event were not well dealt with, they would have frequently come over to look for trouble. However, after the event they dared not to act rashly anymore. As in so doing they would create lots of evil karma, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, rather than being afraid of their coming, just stopped any other chance for them to do evil right away.

From the beginning of propagating dharma till now, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has repeatedly enlightened the concept of death and impermanence. If you act in accord with the Buddha’s teachings and your mind are able to not be moved by the Eight Winds, when something happens to you, you will be able to calmly analyze the things rather than impulsively acting. However, the point is that people usually like to indulge themselves, don’t believe in the law of cause and effect, and think they could just do what they like to do first. Knowing the Eight Winds will let you know to to do and not to indulge yourself. Otherwise you commit evils that you know are evil or make mistakes what you know are wrong, and think these faults will be all right as long as you come to make repentance. These thoughts are wrong. You have so many many problems because you believe in permanence, hoping all you have remain the same forever and thinking what you have belongs to you.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has serious S-shaped Scoliosis. Before, a follower of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s who is a doctor cared a lot for the problems of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s S-shaped Scoliosis. The doctor follower even arranged Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to take the Chiropractic treatment. After undergoing the treatment two times, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche stopped to take it. It is not because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not like to take it but because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche knows that taking the Chiropractic treatment merely alleviates the symptoms and cannot really resolve the root cause. He would need to constantly take the treatment once per months. Then the doctor follower explained on the spot that in general cases, people who have S-shaped Scoliosis to the same serious extent as Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s may also have problem in sitting, lying, and excreting. Spondyle, like a utility pole that draws body’s left and right muscles, is the important backbone of one’s body. If spondyle has problems, all of the organs will be affected. One suffers serious scoliosis may need to wear the brace. It is not possible for them to freely act as Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does.

Don’t improperly think that you can find a fortune teller to change the result of what you have done. Just try to think of that if you could be able to extortionately change the present, then the virtue of your attending pujas now would not result in the future. If you practice Buddhism for the liberation from the cycle of birth and death, then your karmic effect could get reduced to the extent of least effect. Even when it manifests, it would not have impact on your mind. When you totally absorb Buddhist philosophy, you would be able to resist the temptation. Virtue is for you to be healthy and able to cultivate Buddhism. It is not for you to enjoy the happiness. The thinking way taught by the Buddha is different from that of books. As the Buddha’s teachings is beyond language and words. And most important is to act in accordance with the teachings of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and gurus.

When you are in a relationship with your boyfriend/girlfriend, you hide the relationship from your parents but just make it known in public. Many of minors just commit sexual misconduct. Even for the grown-up people who are still financially supported by parents and under parents’ supervisor, if they have sexual relations without parent’s consent, they still commit sexual misconduct. Many college students who are in a relationship just transgress the precept. But it does not count those who work and earn money by themselves, instead of being supported by parents.

Many people think that actions have to be taken against domestic violence as they think the abuser is wrong. In fact, this is the law of cause and effect. The reason why domestic violence takes place lies in their killing karma. Whether your partner is a male or a female, you always started your relationship with the person by having coffee and meals, which definitely contained meat. When you held your wedding reception, how many sentient beings were killed for the dishes on each table? After you got married, you killed lives in hopes to improve your health so that you could have a baby. When you were pregnant, you kept killing lives for your health. How many lives did you take during your postpartum period? When your child was 1 month old, you even held a party for celebration. You have kept creating killing karma and committing evildoings, ever since you started seeing someone.

Besides, you definitely knew whether your partner has the tendency to violence when you hanged out with him or her. His or her everyday demeanor would have certainly told you that. However, you were blown away by the Eight Winds and unable to apply your covered common sense. That is why the domestic violence would take place. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is not trying to stop you from having a boyfriend or a girlfriend. Instead, you are taught to see things clearly. Nowadays, men’s and women’s minds are mostly clouded by lust. Of course, if your guru particularly reminds you not to be with someone, you should listen to the instructions. Nonetheless, even though Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche told a female disciple not to have a romantic relationship with a man, she still would not listen and keep saying that she cannot leave him for that she cannot live without him. She, too, is under the influence of the Eight Winds. Why doesn’t she think that she had actually lived over 20 years without the man before she met him? The guru sees that she is about to fall into the abyss, and, therefore, has been constantly reminding her!

This, too, is an example of someone being unable to tolerate the Eight Winds. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has seen the Eight Winds clearly. When someone keeps praising you, you should think coolly. Why does the person compliment you? What makes you deserve this kind of praise? You should not be overjoyed when being praised.

In addition, in terms of domestic violence, your killing karma could have enabled the other person to take your life. Above all, you repaid this karma through being beaten. Those who were to be beaten might repay it through kissing on the lips. Some of you might wonder, “Isn’t kissing on the lips good?” From the medical perspective, disease-bearing germs can be transmitted to another person through kissing on the lips. A disciple who works as a doctor verified this medical finding during the puja. Nonetheless, you still think that it is good to kiss on the lips. The “distorted dream-thinking” mentioned in the Heart Sutra means that, at the Age of Degenerate Dharma, people often mistake the wrong things for right, and the right things for wrong. The Heart Sutra is a Buddhist scripture that teaches the most on the mind. If you want to know the appearances of the mind, you can recite the Heart Sutra more often. Through reciting the Heart Sutra, you can remember what the mind is like.

What’s more, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has an S-shaped spine, severe scoliosis. As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has been learning martial arts since childhood and practiced the squatting stance, his spine should be straight. It would have been impossible for Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to have scoliosis. Besides, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not have poor health in childhood. The doctor disciple who examined Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s body explained that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has got extremely severe scoliosis. A few years ago, he felt utterly worried that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, who has not received any medical treatments, might lose control of the excretion of his feces and urine or even become paralyzed However, without undergoing any treatments, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is still able to sit in an upright position on the Dharma throne for several hours. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not request any blessing from His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, nor did he perform any practices for himself. In fact, one who has severe scoliosis can suffer a great deal of physical pain, and only those who have the problem know how it feels. Although Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche feels the pain as well, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not focus his mind on such a feeling. Naturally, it has few effects on Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. How difficult it is to achieve this. As the body does feel hurt, everyone knows that it is extremely difficult to ignore the pain. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche knows clearly that such physical pain is impermanent and will end someday. Therefore, through learning Buddhism, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has taken his mind under control, freed from the influence of the consciousness. That is why his physical pain has lessened. Why would someone have severe scoliosis? During a retreat practice, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was able to see the origin of this karmic retribution and thereby knew that he himself had been a general. Being in a warfare and a killing frenzy, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche killed a woman by slashing her through the waist. That is why Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche got severe scoliosis in this life. If you were Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, you would argue that you had been careless. However, there is no such a thing called carelessness. Besides, the lady was not a soldier. It took place simply because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was immersed in a killing frenzy. Few years ago, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s knees did not feel well. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche merely took glucosamine for some time. As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche completely accepts his medical problems, his knees feel alright now. Those who have bone diseases have got heavy killing karma committed by themselves or their ancestors.

A Buddhist learner has to fathom out death and impermanence. However, it does not mean that one should be pessimistic. Death does not refer to physical death, but to the creation and destruction of everything. Nothing is still and unmoving. Even the molecules and atoms in a table care constantly changing. Therefore, the creation and destruction of everything is impermanent as well. Things rise with the cause and condition, and cease as the cause and condition end. That is death. Sometimes you see a couple get divorced without having any major issues and quietly made the decision. When you ask one of them why, he or she might tell you that there was not really a specific reason. They simply felt one day that it might be better for them to get divorced. Therefore, they broke up. That is because their cause and condition ended. When you are able to see clearly that everything that comes and goes is impermanent, suffering will be impermanent and changeable for you as well. When you are able to accomplish the supramundane means, your mundane means will be successfully achieved as well. There is no doubt about it. If you don’t want to die, there is a tantric practice for that as well. His Holiness the thirteenth lineage holder of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage has accomplished the practice of attaining a body that never dies. As of today, His Holiness is still on Wutai Mountain. Tens of years ago, at the reverent imploration of disciples, His Holiness still came out to ask about the situation in the Drikung Kagyu Lineage. In fact, how could His Holiness not know about it? His Holiness was actually trying to find a topic for the conversation. Perhaps the disciples who paid visits in recent years were not sincere and reverent enough, so it has not been heard that His Holiness came out to receive believers again. However, if you would like to cultivate on this practice means that prevents death, you should begin the learning from childhood. Although His Holiness the thirteenth lineage holder has attained a body that does not die, it is still impermanent. If His Holiness does not want it any more someday, wants to end it, or wants to conduct another practice, his physical body will end, too.

You should incorporate the Buddhist teachings into your life. When you suffer, you should think that suffering itself is impermanent. If someone wants to commit suicide, you should definitely advise him or her not to do so. The process of their suicide will repeat itself for someone that committed suicide. In the past, a person came to seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche because his relative had committed suicide. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche saw that the deceased was in a completely dark room where one cannot even see his own fingers and was repeating the process of his suicide. Later on, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche read a Buddhist scripture and then realized that the dark place was the hell. Therefore, one who jumped to his death would repeatedly see himself jumping from the top of the building, experience death, and then go back to the top of the building for another jump. One who would choose to commit suicide for two reasons: One is the fact that the person himself has committed killing karma in previous lifetimes, or that he and his family have got heavy killing karma in this life. The other reason lies in that the person does not accept death and impermanence. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not salvage the sentient beings only after their death. They can be salvaged when they are alive. At seeing that sentient beings are falling into the abyss of the reincarnation, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will remind them. That is why it is important to truly learn Buddhism under a guru that is in accord with the Buddhist teachings. The guru knows that you have gone astray and will give you guidance so as to prevent you from making further mistakes.

In fact, you can’t even control yourself, let alone others. It is impossible for you to control others. All you can control is your own mind. Do not indulge yourself, or you will make mistakes for sure. Someone is worried because his son does not come back home to sleep at night. According to Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, this actually shows that your son has good health. Do you think that your son belongs to you? Can you thereby control him? You are wrong!

As neurotransmission takes effect, consciousness is thereby generated. Responses in the consciousness then influence your mind, making you feel the pain. It is difficult to control one’s body. That is why we tackle the problem through the mind. We control our mind by means of learning Buddhism. When the mind does not take effect, your physical sensations will not have influence upon you. Even though you have the body, can you control it from feeling hungry? When you want to urinate, can you control or stop it? No, you can’t. You cannot do anything about it. Regardless of the fact that you cannot control a grown-up child, you cannot even let an infant stop crying. That is why a lot of incidents of infant abuse have been seen in social news reports these days. The crying of a baby is intolerable to some adults.

The reason why many people develop depression lies in that they don’t believe death and impermanence. Thinking that everything is permanent, they generate attachment, consider things belonging to them, and try to control others. When impermanence occurs, they generate afflictions, which they continue to chase after, and thereby develop depression. Having depression is sulking. When you constantly sulk, you will suffer from an internal injury.

Every worldly affair is impermanent. Once something takes place and you are able to see it from this aspect, you can then see the nature of the incident. You insist on being with the person, but no one will always treat you well. Do not think that you are a woman, so other people have to treat you well. The advantage for you as a woman will eventually be gone. Additionally, physical pain is impermanent. Even though you are very painful with cancer, your suffering will end when you feel the pain to death. Some people say that one who has cancer will become a ghost with cancer. This is not true. As you would generate hateful thoughts with the cancer pain before death, you will still remember such pain when you become a ghost and thereby fall into the hell. When the fruition ends, it creates a new cause, and thereby enables its fruition to appear.

Many of you seek an audience with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in hopes that you can implore Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to bestow merits upon you so as to solve your problems or improve your health. Merits cannot be given like that, though. If one can get merits by means of praying, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche will not have to cultivate practice any longer. All Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has to do would be keep praying to His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang for merits. If one can achieve accomplishments through sutra recitation, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, with a complete collection of the Buddhist Canon, will not need to practice any more. You want Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to give you merits, but Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has not got lots of merits, all of which are to be used for the benefit of the sentient beings. On the other hand, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang, who has great merits, took Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche as his disciple, a disciple that is able to provide some help to the lineage.

When in trouble or adversary, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche rarely seeks help from His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. Unlike you, constantly crying, “Help me, Rinpoche!” As a result, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s ears often feel itchy. From the perspective of Chinese medicine, if one’s ears do not function well, his or her kidneys will not function well, either. However, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s kidneys are working fine. A disciple who works as a doctor of Chinese medicine also explained that, in Chinese medical theory, one’s eyes and ears are connected to certain nerves in the kidneys. Therefore, if one hears and sees things clearly, his kidneys will fully function. On the other hand, when one’s kidneys fully function, he will also see and hear things clearly.

In the Buddhist center, many children have had the experience that when dangers happen to them, they would see Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche appearing to help them. What they saw was neither Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s clone, nor Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s Dharmakaya or Samboghakaya. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has attained the power of compassion. It was Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassionate Nirmanakaya appearing to help them. As long as you respect the guru, when you are in danger, the guru’s compassionate Nirmanakaya will appear to help you. Remember, the key is your reverence to the guru. Being respectful is not that, when you see Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, whether you join your palms together or prostrate yourself in front of the guru or not. These are just outside appearance. The most important point is that whether your mind is fully obedient or not.

If you are disobedient for one time, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings to you will disappear. If you think that you are just disobedient for this time and will wait until the next time to be obedient, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s blessings to you will stop. You may say, “Doing things wrong does not matter. It will just be fine if you repent to Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is very compassionate. It does not matter.” Of course, your action has noting to do with Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche; but you have to start all over again, from scratch; it will be a very long time before you can attain achievement. The guru’s blessing is just like the energy for helping you recharge. For example, ordinarily when using your cell phone, if your cell phone’s battery is fully drained and needs a recharge, it will take at least two to three hours to recharge the battery; and it will be impossible for you to use your cell phone right away.  Even when in urgent conditions that your cell phone is used immediately after a brief recharging, you will feel that the phone call is not very smooth. Furthermore, even if your cell phone is fully charged, when you start to use it, it will begin to consume electricity and will run out of the battery power one day. Under the current technology, no one has invented a machine that can recharge for 24 hours.

So, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche can only use this example to analogize. If you want to be always full of power, you have to be biddable and have a respectful mind. Why can’t you obtain the guru’s blessing? First, you are not completely respectful to the guru. And second, you have not attained compassion.

“Vigor and diligence” is neither the apparent actions of joining your palms together and prostrating yourself in front of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, nor the amount of the action of worshiping Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. “Vigor and diligence” is to focus, to continuously focus, to focus on what the guru has said, and to focus on modifying one’s own behaviors, rather than just looking at others’ problems. As the Master Gampopa’s teachings enlightened by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche last time, you should constantly contemplate death and impermanence, understand the suffering of the cyclic existence, and cultivate compassion, mercy, and Bodhicitta. Even for those practitioners who practice Hinayana, lacking of Relative Bodhicitta is not acceptable either. If there is no compassion and Bodhi, there is no Buddhism. If one does not always keep the idea of death and impermanence in one’s mind, one will not be able to attain the indiscriminate compassion.

It has mentioned in the “Avalokiteshvara’s Universal Door Chapter of the Lotus Sutra” that Avalokiteshvara uses “compassionate eyes to look at sentient beings”. This has not been mentioned in other Buddhist scriptures. Many people think the phrase means that Avalokiteshvara uses compassionate eyes to look at sentient beings. The explanation of this phrase is not so simple. If it could be explained in such a simple way, it would not have been written so clearly in the Buddhist scripture. The compassionate eyes do not mean the heavenly eyes or the human eyes, but the wisdom eyes. Avalokiteshvara represents compassion and treats all sentient beings with indiscriminate compassion of void nature. Avalokiteshvara is a great Bodhisattva who had been an ancient Buddha who returned to this world again. In the “Avalokiteshvara’s Universal Door Chapter of the Lotus Sutra”, Avalokiteshvara was addressed as “Bodhisattva Mahasattva”. This honorific title has not been translated since, when the Master Xunzang translated Buddhist sutras previously, if a term had many meanings at the same time, it would not be translated. If we use the level of attainment to explain, “Bodhisattva Mahasattva” is a great Bodhisattva who has at least attained the achievement above 10th ground. The dharma of cultivation practice taught by Exoteric Buddhism can only let a bodhisattva reach 10th ground. Those who have attained the levels from 11th ground to 16th ground are bodhisattvas who practice Tantra. Those bodhisattvas who have attained the achievement of 10th ground still have a slightest worry, the worry of liberating sentient beings.

Liberation means to go beyond the ocean of suffering, to escape from the cyclic existence, and to be reborn in the Pure Land.

Cultivation practice means to correct our behaviors that will let us stay in the cyclic existence. The most important foundation is compassion, mercy, and Bodhichitta. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche had talked about them in the past dharma recordings, so Rinpoche would not explain them this time. Compassion and mercy is the most important, so the Six-syllable Mani mantra is the foundation.  If there was no compassion and mercy, there would be no Buddhism.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened attendees that many believers and disciples had indicated that when attending pujas they would often cry unconsciously, some of them even with their hairs standing on end. All of these phenomena occurred because your mind was opened from the attunement between the compassion of the guru, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas and your own compassion. Because the guru had attuned to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, through the blessing of the guru, Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, you had the chance to expose your original undefiled nature and virtuous root, and to see the pure and clean Buddha nature originally owned by everyone.

If you still have attachments, you have not attained the indiscriminate compassion and Bodhichitta. You can only understand the mind and see the self-nature after you have accumulated blessings and wisdom. A practitioner who has understood the mind and seen the self-nature will pay little attention to fame and wealth, and will not concoct all sorts of pretexts. When you can see the nature of the mind, you will have the perspective of “non-duality”. “Non-duality” means clearness and indiscrimination. All of you began to have a discriminatory mind when you were in the womb of your mother. Those who have been pregnant know that as they ate some cold food, the baby in their womb would kick them. This action indicated that the baby did not like the coldness. And it was the display of the baby’s discriminatory mind. When a person has a discriminatory mind, he will not be able to see clearly the consequences of all matters.

In the “Maharatnakuta” sutra, Sakyamuni Buddha had spoken a lot about the theory of emptiness. Those who practiced Zen gradually divided into two groups. People in one group thought all things exist in the world; people in the other group thought all things does not exist in the world. Hence, later, the view of middle way (Madhyamake) was introduced (by Nagarjuna). The concept of middle way does not mean standing in the middle and watching both sides; it does not mean standing on the left side or on the right side. It does not particularly teach existence or emptiness. Emptiness does not mean nothing exists. Everything is originated from the law of cause and condition and should not be attached to. The view of middle way overthrew the view of duality. Buddhism has one very different point than the other religions. The point is related to the view of “Non-duality”. The Master Gampopa also enlightened people, “When we have experienced this true appearance of our own mind, for this kind of profound meaning of “Non-duality”, we cannot use any word to describe it.” The character of “二” (two) refers to dualism.

Mahamudra is somewhat similar with the Zen School. There are four stages in Mahamudra. These four stages are yogas of one-pointedness, simplicity, one-taste, and non-meditation respectively, each of which consists of 3 parts. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has practiced to attain the level of yoga of one-taste. While practicing to attain the level of yoga of non-meditation, one had realized the nature. In fact, even the intention of practicing is also put away because everything is self-mastery. There is even no any intention.

The beauty is the karma while the evilness is also the karma. Why do we suffer? That is from the consciousness. Though seeming to learn Buddha, but we do not experience what the Buddha gives us. If practitioners have no concrete mind, no causes and conditions, as well as unwilling to obey Buddhas’ teaching, they just do not learn. That is because the causes and conditions are not sufficient. If practitioners take the retreat with the greed intention, it is futile because life and death cannot be liberated. To reborn toward the Pure Land is a concept. It needs to arouse vows and believe with one hundred percent. What Buddha dharma teaches us is not the common sense but it is totally different with the life experience. What Buddha dharma teaches us is to clearly see our real faces and intention. Those feelings cannot be expressed by languages. It is often said “Buddha said that it is unable to be told.” It is cannot be told because there is the secret, but it is because ordinary people have not attained the level. Whatever it is told, they cannot experience. Frankly speaking, you have so many afflictions and many of those result from own discriminating thought. Goodness versus evilness. Good versus Bad. Because there is the contrary, afflictions are generated.

You should believe that you could be the same with the Buddha. It is needless to suspect the Buddha dharma, or you just hear but cannot understand. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has never owed you and pays back to you with the Buddha dharma. You also should not think the Buddha dharma is illusionary. The true meaning of Buddha dharma is not expressed by languages. If you can obey and do in accordance with what the guru as well as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teach, you can break through the mist and suspect.

Do not ask when can you get enlightened or when will you change. It is also the attachment if you care about whether you progress as well as become better or not. Many people take eight precepts of a one day vow holder and hope themselves can get enlightened or have some interaction. In fact, whether you can take retreat or not, it depends on your causes and conditions, as well as whether the opportunity comes or not. If forcing to do without enough causes and conditions, something bad may happen. Learning Buddhism takes long time to instill. When the opportunity comes one day, you would find it will naturally change. Don’t deliberately demand specific results at some specific time. Also don’t think how long you can attain. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has never thought he would learn Buddhism. After learning Buddhism, he has never thought that he would be the guru and promote the Buddha dharma on the throne. We should believe all beings have the pure nature which is the same with Buddhas. But the nature is covered just by the accumulated karma which is made by the greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance and suspect in past lives. To Believe in Buddhas refers that one must can do as what the Buddha says. Why cannot you do successfully? Because you have not determined! You still indulge own desire to do evil things. As Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said just now that he was a general in one past life, he accidentally killed a civilian because he was in the psychologically excited state of killing. So he has the retribution of scoliosis in this life. That was to indulge own desire too. If he paid more attention then, he would not do as such.

One 50-years-old disciple has married but recently gets together with a young lady. He thought that he has some successful business and is still so charming while going with this star. It is obvious that the disciple did not listen to what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened in the past weeks.

The final purpose of learning Buddhism is to be able to practice to get enlightened and see the nature in this life. You should grasp this life to learn Buddhism with exertion and make effort to accumulate provisions of both merits and wisdom. When causes and conditions occur, you naturally can get enlightened and see the nature. Even if you cannot practice to attain in this life, at least you should arouse the vow to reborn toward the Pure Land and continue practicing. If you can obey and do in accordance with what Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teach, you can turn the suffering into happiness. This happiness is without retribution and affliction. You can clearly see the ontology of all afflictions in the world but feel no sufferings. If so, everything would be peaceful in the life and everyday is a good day. “Everyday is a good day” does not mean that everyday is the happy day but means that whatever anything happens, you can equally treat without discriminative thoughts.

Much of so-called happiness in this world has the sequel. After chasing for happiness, it is usually followed by the sufferings. That is because the much of happiness chased by people in the world is to pursue the Eight Winds of the world. Only learning Buddhism can teach us how to counteract the affliction from chasing for the Eight Winds of the world and makes the affliction not take effect on you. The happiness from seeking for nothing can make you have the real peace and happiness. If something happens, the heart would not float much and not to compare between good or bad. Currently it is hard for you to understand this level.

Why do many people be in the sulks, have depressive disorder, or be unable to sleep in the night? Because they have affliction and too much discriminating thoughts. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has never had the trouble of being unable to sleep. No matter how problematic the things are, those can be handled after waking up tomorrow. Because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not chase for affliction and deeply knows everything is impermanent. It is not because everything goes smoothly and there is nothing trouble in Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s living. Like Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s son had never had a phone call to home for 5 months. If it were you, you would worry. But Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has not been impacted by the Eight Winds. Instead, he was glad that he could have one less thing to socialize with.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche also continuously makes psychological and physical efforts for benefiting beings everyday and contemplates the best approaches to help beings solve problems. The difference is that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has realized Buddha dharma in the living and has the true peace and happiness. Learning Buddhism must not make us be incompatible with others. Just like Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche, nobody knows the status of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche while he does not wear the dharma clothes. If supramundane dharma can really be practiced, mudane dharma must be better only. In fact, everything in the world has the boundary. It can only reach one specific altitude while constructing a building. It is impossible to build the house as high as the sky. But the Buddha dharma has no boundary. You can only experience it upon realization by yourselves. If the Buddha dharma takes no effects, that is because you do not obey, your heart is impacted by consciousness as well as moved by the Eight Winds and your heart is not steady. So you must have determination to do. You should know everyone could attain Buddhahood in the future once you start to do. Do not think when you can achieve that or whether you do well or not, once you obey the teaching of the guru as well as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and repeat to do practically, it must be happened in the future. If you still do not understand the basic concept of learning Buddhism and demand for what Buddhas or the guru give to you all the day, that is the superstition.

Currently Tibetan Buddhism is very popular in Taiwan. Many people like to ask whom are their yidam? In fact, your own yidam relates to your causes and conditions in past lives, as well as vows power, causes and conditions in this life. Whomever yidam you practice, Six-Syllable Mantra is the foundation. Many people also wish Rinpoche to have divination for them in order to know when they will die. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened that Rinpoche comparatively would not do that because causes and conditions are complicated and would change. Your virtues in this life are practically fixed. But the lifespan are undecided because many variables would strengthen or shorten the lifespan. People who make efforts to have good deeds and arouse no afflictions would strengthen their lifespan. As to accumulating virtues, you could accumulate the virtues, which are also merits, to take effect on rebirth to the next life if you are the practitioner.

A male disciple reported that although he had learned Buddhism for more than 20 years and heard Buddha dharma speeched by many dharma masters. As to death and impermanence, faults of the cycle of rebirth, compassion as well as Bodhicitta, he heard the content fragmentarily. Today Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened the content very completely and sequentially. All the Buddha dharma, which can be enlightened within 3 or 5 years, was totally told. He felt it’s very auspicious.

Anothe male disciple felt what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened today were earnest teachings. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche very earnestly demonstrated the concept of life and impermanence to everyone again. These are the dharma category for practicing. In the past, many people pursued for profound esoteric dharma. As to these fundamental dharma category, these are not taught so clearly. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche repeatedly teaches everyone to understand  through his experience of true practicing. The disciples are benefited so much.

One male disciple, who had been to many outsides pujas,  reported that what Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened today corrected many wrong or greedy thoughts he had had in the before. He very thanked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

An ordained female disciple reported that she had no chances to hear so clearly. She very thanked that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened again and again about the death and impermanence, faults of the cycle of rebirth, as well as how to apply the Buddha dharma in the daily life. Although she had not attained that but felt very cheerful.

One male disciple reported that Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche teaches the outlines in many sutras within just 3 hours. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche enlightened about the Eight Winds, which is caused by greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance and suspect, as well as impermanent life, are all the important concept for learning Buddhism. He really thanked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche and would start to do right away.

Khenpo Namdol, who also attended today’s puja, is a Tibetan from the Zhongdian area of Yunnan. He said that he has been ordained from childhood and then went to Buddha temple of His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang in India. Khenpo said that he learned many dharma teachings in exoteric Buddhism and heard the Buddha dharma enlightened by many great khenpos and Rinpoches. But the enlightenment by Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is very different. It is the essence of practicing experience by a great practitioner. The level is different and very auspicious. He very thanked Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche continued his teachings. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche have been giving the teachings of death and impermanence, faults of samara, mercy and compassion since Rinpoche started propagating the dharma. Today Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gave the teachings once again. It is not because Rinpoche is so old to repeat these. Actually it is because these teachings are too important. Mercy and compassion will not be cultivated without these fundamental basics. You should hear these dharma teachings deeply in you mind and adopt them into your daily life. Time flies! It’s July now. Life is so short. With a blink of an eye, a year is going to pass again. Do not be afraid of adopting dharma into your daily life. How long you could live is not so important. What does matter is if you live with dharma for every second.

You though Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was used to scold people. But actually nothing arises within Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche when Rinpoche is doing this. After scolding, there is no any impact on Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s health either. That is because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has attained the mercy of emptiness and scold people within the emptiness. If not so, ordinary people have suffered burst liver already. Yesterday Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche received more than 100 believers from 4PM to 10:30PM. Even the attendant nun felt tired too. But Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche did not feel tired at all. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has such capability because Rinpoche has attained the compassion of emptiness.

One disciple who also is a medical doctor told the attendees that scoliosis may cause incontinence, paralysis, inability to walk. But Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche does not suffer these situations. Moreover, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s scoliosis is very serious that the middle segment of his vertebra is slantingly twisted and then goes straight after that. But you do not know Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche suffer such kind of illness from the appearance.  It is because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has attained the accomplishment that heart is not affected by the consciousness, and therefore the physical pain will not affect the heart naturally. So you could know how auspicious the Buddha Dharma is. If not realizing the auspiciousness of Buddha Dharma, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche would have not propagated the dharma. You have not had such realization because you have not cultivated you heart very well.

Once when His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang was performing rituals to give the teachings in India, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche witnessed a big hornet flied in front of His Holiness’ eyebrow. But His Holiness continued the performing without notice of it nor did His Holiness disperse it by hands or body. It is because His Holiness was performing the rituals for the benefits of sentient beings without himself. Therefore although the big hornet stopped in front of the eyebrow, which is the human’s most sensitive organ and people would disperse anything in front of, His Holiness performed the rituals without any interruptions. At that moment His Holiness was giving dharma teachings and would not pay the attention on harms that he might have. His Holiness did not care about his body at all. So it can be known how powerful His Holiness meditative concentration.

Although having the serious scoliosis, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche still sits up straight with double cross legs on the throne to give the dharma teachings for more than 3 hours. It is because Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche gives the teachings with meditative concentration for the benefit of sentient beings, not thinking of gaining any personal interest. But when you feel tired, you will move your body back and forth, nor do you sit up straight. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche is very attentive to know what attainment some Dharma propagators have achieved by watching how they give the teachings on the dharma seat. If a Dharma propagator could sit firmly, at least what in his mind is to benefit you. Whether a practitioner has the heart of meditative concentration could be told by observing if his legs have moved or not. Heart will have effect the legs, and that heart moves will cause the legs move and the body twist. And these all are unconscious actions. You could observe this when you have chance.

After the puja was over, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche proceeded to meet 35 believers and give them Buddhist enlightenment, and helped them to relieve all kinds of suffering in the world.
