The Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall.

The Great Amitabha Dharma for Transferring Consciousness is an auspicious earth terma Tantra of the Drikung Kagyu Order. Before being able to cultivate Vajrayana Tantra, a practitioner must first lay a foundation by practicing Exoteric Buddhism for at least ten years. Thereafter, upon finishing the Four Uncommon Preliminary Practices, he may receive the Amitabha Empowerment. Then, he must go into retreat under the guidance of his guru, chant the Amitabha Heart Mantra at least one million times, and cultivate until becoming attuned with the yidam. After mastering the Phowa, by which the consciousness of the deceased is liberated and transferred to the Pure Land, he is then qualified to cultivate and perform the Great Amitabha Dharma for Transferring Consciousness.

In 2007, His Holiness the Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang led Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche in a three-month retreat on Lapchi Snow Mountain in Nepal, at an altitude of 4,500 meters above sea level. To express his gratitude, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche made three grand prostrations before His Holiness, despite the muddiness of the ground.

After perfecting all prerequisites, H.E. Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche was transmitted the Four Inner-Tantra Empowerments personally by His Holiness. Moreover, Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche has attained the fruition of a Rinpoche, profound Samadhi, and the Simplicity Yoga, enabling him to benefit all sentient beings and help them to become liberated from suffering.

All representatives who offer lamps and mandalas to the Buddhas are randomly selected from the attendees by lot at the venue. Also, in order to maintain the purity of the puja, no commercial activities will be allowed. All costs are shared by disciples of the Glorious Jewel Buddhist Center under the supervision of Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche. Neither public fundraising is conducted, nor are public donations accepted.

Over the years, the Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Pujas for Transferring Consciousness have seen more than 170,000 attendees.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche said, “One important reason for participating in a grand puja is to assist your ancestors in escaping the Three Evil Realms, and to help all sentient beings leave the suffering sea of reincarnation. The word ‘grand’ in ‘grand puja,’ apart from its reference to the large number of attendees, means, most importantly, that the presiding guru possesses great bodhicitta, which means he helps sentient beings without seeking any fame or profit in return. In the Chinese word for puja, fahui, the character fa means using the expedient methods spoken by the Buddha to help sentient beings to escape the suffering sea of reincarnation. The second character, hui, refers to a gathering of the fourfold assembly coming together with the common goal of helping sentient beings to become free from suffering and to obtain happiness. If you participate in this puja with an attitude of respect, repentance, and compassion, then you will definitely obtain fortune and merits.

Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche’s compassion and aspiration fill the void, benefiting all sentient beings in the Ten Directions of the Dharma Realm.

It is rare to possess a human body, hard to hear the Dharma, and difficult to encounter a guru. With all these three conditions present, it is our hope that you will cherish the virtuous affinity provided by this Great Indiscriminate Amitabha Puja for Transferring Consciousness.
